Chereads / Lycan Curse: The Howling Bloodbath / Chapter 12 - The Wolf incident

Chapter 12 - The Wolf incident

All of us panicked as the voice came nearer to us and we had no clue about what to do. It was an animal for sure but we were informed that animals were only found in depth of forest, when we came to live here and we were just a few steps into the forest. This was a residual area animals can't come here I tried to tell myself but then came the sound of footsteps as they crumbled the dead leaves. Emma was in urge of crying and I felt the same but I was too numb to say anything. I just stared towards the bushes waiting for the animal behind it to come in front and I know that will be the most treacherous scene I would ever see , god knows if I will be alive to see anything. Jess held my hand and I don't know what Mason was doing as he stood behind us, her hands were shaking and cold.

With a loud noise a wolf jumped and stood in front of us it's brown, sparkling eyes gazing at us. Hunger evitable in them. Jess's grip on my hand tightened and Emma was now, crying. The wolf came closer to us and started smelling the air around three of us while revolving around us. It stopped in front of me and we were so petrified that a even a single word wasn't ready to escape our mouth. As it stood in front of me, he stared directly into my eyes and despite the fear of him I wasn't able to move my eyes from him, I think I have seen that kind of sparkle in eyes before, but I don't remember where.

It kept gazing me constantly and I couldn't stop staring it. It's eyes were much aggressive when it jumped out of the bushes those expressions were somewhat changing. I wouldn't have observed if I wasn't looking at it intently. It came closer to me and Jess was constantly shaking my hand. It sniffed something near me and then it looked into my eyes, it's eyes were calmer now. As soon as I tried to turn my vision from it, it ran into the dense forests and after a few seconds he disappeared in it.

We let a sigh of relief and ran from there as soon as we could after running few metres I stopped to catch some breath. Three of them stopped with me as well. We were all exhausted.

"What did you do? You were amazing."

Mason said and I don't know what he meant.

"Huh.. ?!"

I said,panting.

"What did you to the wolf, he stared at you like you both were into some nonverbal communication. He left without harming us. Do you really know how to communicate with animals?"

Mason asked in excitement and I don't really think it had anything to do with me. Moreover, I don't think something like that ever happens to anyone.

"I did not do anything. Even I am confused as you all are."

I told them and they looked at me in disbelief. Did they really think, I am some kind of animal instructor?

"Even I thought you were having some kind of communication with him through your eyes."

Jess said and I don't believe she was the one saying this. I mean she was the smartest and knows everything well. But how could she think I was able to control the mind of an animal and that too a wolf.

"What are saying...please... Let's go home,now. I don't want anymore trouble now."

I told them to escape from their silly questions and started moving towards home. They followed.

Finally after walking for ten minutes,we reached my home. Lights were switched on and mom was back home. I pressed the doorbell and mom opened the door quickly. She was a bit panicked and held her cellphone in her left hand. She was a lefty. She started saying as soon as she saw me,

"Where were you Iya. I was worried for you and was gonna call inform 911. You shouldn't be roaming around outside at least not in this hour. Don't you know what happened with that guy we saw today?"

She yelled but felt bad at herself for what she said. She would never want to imagine me in such condition. Even I was worried for a second in forest that would I be able to see my mom again or not. I went near her and hugged her. She was baffled for a moment but then hugged me back.

"I love you."

I whispered in her ears and she repeated the same. I did not wanted to tell her about our encounter with the wolf or she was gonna panic furthmore,or worse, she would ask to change the neighborhood or even the city. We had just shifted here and I didn't wanted to make her worried about me anymore. I did not tell her anything about the incident and after a long hug with my mom, she saw my friends standing outside the door and asked then to come in. Jess whispered to me,

"Why didn't you tell your mom about the incident?"

"It would have panicked her and I didn't want that."

I said.

"But she has to know about it. It was Avery dangerous incident."

Jess said and she was right. I would tell my mom about it but when the time is right.

I nodded and my mom came with tea and some cookies. My friends thanked her for it and left after having their cup of tea.

I tried to work on my assignments after they left but I couldn't focus on it. I just held my pen in a hand was thinking about the incident continuously. Those sparkling eyes were not leaving my brain for a moment. And I couldn't do anything than ponder about them. I tried to sleep but it took me two hours to get asleep. But it wasn't a good sleep as those sparkling eyes haunted me in my nightmare as well.
