As I went downstairs, mom was already up and was making pancakes in the kitchen.
"You look different today, Iya. I can see you have put some extra efforts on you look today. I like it sweetie."
Mom complimented and I thought was it that obvious to tell. I smiled and went to kitchen counter to have some pancake. Mom served it to me. It ate it quietly, mom makes the best pancakes.
"Did you put these efforts today to impress someone?"
My mom asked and I can't tell if she was serious or not. But it has only been three days in my new school does she really thinks I would do that for some guy.
"Mom... No. It's nothing like that. I haven't met a guy like that yet."
I told her and she wasn't ready to believe.
"Then what about Shane. He came so early in the morning today just to ask you for jogging, he is cute. Isn't he."
She said and I can't really believe she thinks about Shane that way.
"No mom. You are definitely misunderstanding things. Shane isn't like that. He's not even cute. He is rude, super rude."
I told her and don't why I was pissed at Shane when he didn't even do anything wrong today.
"Then is it, Ellis? I like him but isn't the fun kind of according to what I saw in him."
Could she never stop?
"Ellis is just a friend mom. He has been helping me from the very first day it's mean of you to say like that about him."
I said and got up from the chair.
"I am leaving now."
I told her and left. Why does she wants me to have a boyfriend, so desperately. I am good on my own and had even made friends to have fun with. Wasn't it all sufficient for her. I ignited the engine and sped towards the school. It didn't took me much time to reach there as I was fast driving at a high speed today.
I grabbed my belongings and got out from the car. I was early for school today and there wasn't much rush in the corridors just some school staffs and a few children organizing their lockers. I went towards my locker and put some books in it and took a text book for my first period. I couldn't find Jess, Ellis or others. I went to my classroom and waited for everyone to arrive.
After two minutes when I entered the classroom, Shane came in. He was looking much hotter in the thin white tight T-shirt that he wore. His muscles looked much defined in it. He smiled when he saw me and took a seat next to me. He usually roams around alone except a few times when some or the other morons try to be at his side or I would rather say they try to impress him for no god knows what. Maybe they want to be on his side because he is strong and powerful. Most of the students in schools fears him and everyone knows him.
"Don't you have any friends."
I asked him when he was scanning through his textbook.
"I have you."
He simply answered still liking at his book. It made me somewhat happy, he really considered me his friend. Is he the first day Shane for real?
"I am serious."
I told him and that's when his beautiful green eyes met mine and he said,
"So am I."
There was genuineness in his eyes which asked me to believe him and I did believe him. Shane was my friend, yes. But the only problem was he and Ellis act superbly weird around each and they both weren't ready to talk about it.
"OK so let me change the question. Don't you have any friend other than me?"
I said.
"No, I hangout out with some people but they aren't actually my friend."
He told.
"How is it so, you hangout with those people and don't call them your friend?"
I asked him as it was weird, I men you don't hangout with the strangers.
"I don't go jogging with them."
Was his answer and for some reason it made blush. But then he isn't being serious and trying to avoid the questions.
"Fine. Don't tell me. If you were my friend you would not try to avoid my questions rather would have answered simply."
I snapped.
"That's so lame of you to say that. Do you really read books a lot where friends share their every ducking secrets including the color of their underwear?"
He snapped back and I felt what he said was right. I mean, I admit that was a very cliche line I used to convince him.
"OK no problem but I will make sure you don't lie to me ever."
I told him and put on my text book on the table.
"That determined, huh!?"
He teased and I ignored as rest of the seats started filling. I saw Jess and waved at her, she waved back and took a seat on my right.
"Did you tell your mom about it?"
Was the first thing she asked about.
"Not yet Jess, not now. I don't know if I should tell her or not, she'll be panicked and moreover we are all safe, right?"
I said. I felt bad, not telling mom about the werewolf we saw in woods, Ilse weren't exactly in woods we were in just the outline of it. But it's best for her not to know about that.
"As you say. But be careful."
She said.
"I will."
I smile and our class begun. The professor's mood was good today and she didn't scold any child for the first, in her class. And I was happy that many of the students could dodge her ruthless scoldings, today. The class was pretty boring bit Shane didn't let me lose interest, not in the class but in him. Everytime I tried to concentrate on the lecture, he would whisper something fine and I would burst into giggles. Even teacher scowled me a few times but as her mood was OK she didn't say anything otherwise she would've had thrown both me and Shane outside the class. Second period was chemistry and I liked my professor Mr Logan Fernsby, he was so friendly unlike our literature teacher and always talks his student in a calm and polite way. The smile was always plastered on his face.
"Good morning Mr Fernsby."
I greeted him.
"Good morning Iya."
He greeted back and I felt good as he knew my name. Only a few people knew my name as I was a new student but obviously Mr Fernsby knew as he always kept track of his every student.
"You are a good student. I've been noticing you since your first class."
He complimented. Chemistry has always been my favorite subject. It's fascinating for me how the two elements combines with each to form a new element of it's own different nature and those two combined to form it does not have their own identity left, after forming it.
"That's nice of you too say that. I will try to give my best."
I told him and he nodded and went inside the lab and Ellis came from behind.
"Impressing teachers, huh?"
He said.
"No he praised me before I could try to impress him. But you, why were listening to our conversation?"
I asked him.
"I wasn't listening on purpose. I was just going to the lab and heard it eventually."
He admitted and after giving him a look went to the lab. Ellis followed and we both decided to be lab partners. Mr Fernsby started with explaining about the acids and their reactions and asked us to do it as well.
I asked Ellis to add acid to the water but he mistook me and added water to acid exploding the test tube. A few drops of it landed on Ellis's skin and his skin started burning due to it. The smoke produced by the acid was blurring my vision I wanted to help Ellis but couldn't reach him. As soon as the surroundings started to become normal I went to him and took his hand and to my shock it was completely fine. His hand didn't had a single mark on it. I thought I had mistaken with his hands and grabbed his left hand to check and it was perfectly fine. What the hell? I definitely saw acid drops on his hands but why is there nothing on them now.
"What are you doing, Iya?"
He asked.
"Your hand.... I just saw... "
I didn't know what to say. I was so shocked that I couldn't even phrase the right sentence.
"What do you mean...? "
Ellis was baffled regarding what I was talking about and so was I, what I just saw was not a misunderstanding or a optical illusion for sure.
