It's been a few weeks since Mika moved in with Lukas. She got used to her life as the wife of the CEO. Even though most of the time, Lukas will act aloof to everyone around him but when Mika shows up, his whole expression changed. He became a little bit warmer towards her and he was a bit too harsh before. Lukas didn't know what was happening to him, all he wanted was her.
Mika was working in Lukas' office when she received a call from a woman. She didn't know who it was so the woman introduced herself as Lukas' younger sister, Katy. Mika lets Katy in and asked her to have a seat while she called Lukas who was still reading up the proposal.
*knocks*
"Come in." Lukas wore his glasses and saw Mika standing there, "What's wrong?" He asked. Mika pointed to the young lady sitting on the sofa.
"She said she's your younger sister, Katy" Mika replied and Lukas reluctantly stood up from his seat to meet with Katy.
"I'm still busy. If you have something to say, say it." Lukas impatiently waited for her reply. It took Katy several minutes to stir up her courage to say the horrible news.
"Brother, Mom passed away. Before she passed away, she really wanted to see you. She was sorry for all the pain she caused y--" Katy and Mika saw Lukas stood up from the sofa and went back into his office without saying anything. Mika assured Katy that Lukas will be fine. Katy nodded. Mika didn't know too much about Lukas' family but she was hoping Lukas will tell her more of his back story.
Mika went into his office as quietly as possible. She went beside Lukas and puts her hand on his left shoulder, "I'll be out with Katy. If you need anything, let me know." Lukas nodded and Mika went out to meet with Katy who was crying. She handed a tissue to her and Katy wiped away she tears and sniffles.
"Thank you." Katy said tearfully. Mika sat beside Katy and placed her hand on Katy's hand, "I'm sorry for your loss. I know it's a hard time for you but you need to be strong. Your older brother still needs you even though he doesn't express it well." Mika gently smiled at Katy who nodded.
"Uhm, may I ask who are you?" Katy asked out of curiosity. Mika scratched her head and laughed, "It's a long story. If we have more time, I'll tell you a bit more." Mika wanted to avoid the word "wife" because she is Lukas' fake wife. A moment later, Lukas stood beside Mika and replied, "She's my wife." Mika turned around and she was surprised how quiet he was when he approached them.
"You're married already, brother?" Katy looked so happy, "I'm so happy for you!! What should I call you, sister-in- law?" Katy held onto Mika's hand.
"I... My name is Mika Watson." Mika looked at Lukas for help but he remained aloof as usual. Katy looked really happy and hugged Mika, "Please take a good care of my brother, if you can, can you please let him go back home to see our father? Thank you." Mika nodded and agreed.
"For sure." Mika replied.
"Then, I'm relieved. I'll be heading back now. Father will be glad to see your wife, brother." Katy waved them goodbye and Lukas looked at her without saying anything.
"Mika, let's go back home." Mika understood him without asking him questions.
"Okay, let's go back."
Later in the evening, Lukas lost his appetite to eat and headed to bed earlier than usual. Mika helped him review some of the reports before heading to bed. She headed downstairs to get a midnight, then she heard the doorbell ringing.
"Coming!" She double checked the security camera and it was David.
"David, what brought you here? It's so late." Mika was surprised. David explained that his car broke down midway and it had to be fixed. He lived quite far from the neighborhood.
"Please come in. It's quite cool outside." Mika went in to prepare some hot tea.
"Green tea or Jasmine tea?" She asked.
"Green Tea, please." David replied.
"Green tea, coming up~" Mika came back with his cup of tea and placed it in front of him.
"Thank you so much. I didn't know what to say because I didn't want to disturb you." David was very thankful. Mika shook her head, "Lukas is already fast asleep, he had a tough day today. I didn't want to put too much stress on him so I just let him sleep a bit earlier." Mika replied.
"What happened?" David asked in curiosity while carefully drinking hit green tea.
"Today, his younger sister came to his office and told us that their mother passed away." Mika continued, "He didn't show too much emotions, I think he's hiding it in there. I'll wait until he wants to tell me. I won't force him." Mika finished and she took a tip of the green tea.
"That's terrible. His mother was a wonderful woman but she can be very strict especially toward Lukas. He got the most responsibilities so that's why he doesn't show too much emotions. He may be cold but inside, he's like a glass. I'm glad he has you. No other women could withstand his attitude for a long time. I really admired you." David smiled at Mika and she smiled back too.
Mika checked her phone and it's already 1 AM in the morning, Mika asked David whether he wishes to sleep in the living room couch or in one of the guestroom upstairs.
"I'll sleep on the couch, it's comfortable." He said and Mika brought a thick blanket for him, "If you need anything, let me know. We have extra toothbrushes and toothpaste in the bathroom." Mika went upstairs after talking to David.
When she went into her bedroom, she yawned while laying in bed. She was so tired that within a minute or two, she fell asleep.
