I survived. It was surprising to me.
My heartbeat was through the roof because of the adrenaline rushing through my body. I had escaped and the rush was causing me to hyperventilate. My big brother Niall finally came around. He must have realized the dead end he was headed in while working for Lamia. I didn't have time to hate him for his past decisions. He had ripped our family and pack apart. He helped that vicious vampire queen destroy everything that was keeping the pack together. I'm sure he had his reasons. Maybe he was lured in by lust.
Lamia... The vampire queen was a goddess of trickery. I met her a few times while trapped in her home. The whole time there I had only one goal which was to RUN. It didn't take much convincing to get her servant Andrew to agree to help me leave. He was her personal servant who was forced there against his will. I'm sure everyone there was forced against their will to be there. Andrew was just a human. I think he wanted to leave. He probably prayed every night for death. He was forced to stay there as much as I was. It wasn't my idea to stay at the vampire queen's rotten castle of Dragavei. It had been my long-term boyfriend's idea. Emmett must have felt stupid for going. I can't imagine what he thought when dying.
Emmett had been a control freak. He didn't expect things to fall apart when my sister came home from college and caught him making out with me. The whole time- I didn't know they had been fated mates. She was a late bloomer, Vivienne. She must have transformed for her first time away at college. Because when she came home that's when everything bad started to happen.
Viv caused Emmett's downfall from his perfect life. He had it all. The beta position, a hot boyfriend, and respect from a pack. Of course I'm the hot boyfriend. When she came home and rejected him he fell down from his heavenly high. He was thrown out of the pack. I don't even remember the words he used to convince me to go with him. I was so stupid.
Now... I was determined not to leave Lamia's territory until I found my family. My mother and my twin sister were taken during the invasion. I knew they would be at the warehouse. I couldn't leave without them. It didn't take much to convince Andrew to take me to them. He knew which way to go and I knew who I was looking for...
In the dark night following Lamia's war games... She had managed to lure my pack's best warriors away from our territory by attacking a nearby pack, Blacktail Growlers. Anyone left behind was defenseless against the vampire army that swooped in to steal women, children, and the weak omega werewolves. They killed anyone that tried to stop them. The only place Andrew knew where to look would be Lamia's sacred warehouse.
The warehouse, Which was a place Andrew knew all too well. For he was once held captive in and was now able to describe thoroughly to me without missing a detail. It was a humid building due to all the heat signatures cooped up inside. Think of it like a chicken house. With wire cages no bigger then four by four and stacked on top of one another. The people kept in those cages were my people. They were werewolves being sold into slavery. It was huge inside. And, a storage for what my brother Niall and Lamia had been working on these past few years. It was a savage hell hole to look at. Because the cages were small and hardly any room to move in. Andrew explained that the peasants didn't get properly taken care of there and often... died if they were not sold off right away. This was a factory of sin. This was a place to trade species for the dollar. This was a vampire's favorite game. They were predatory creatures that thought of themselves as top of the food chain. So they were the superior species. Naturally our enemy.
The warehouse building was used for storage. And, this was an obvious building for werewolf trafficking's. It was still against the law to traffic my kind. We had established our freedom first long ago in history before the rising of vampire kind. We were equal on paper... But, not everywhere. In the territory of Lamia she despised our kind and so we were nothing but chickens. Her favorite pass time was Lycanthrope's elite underground basement.
Places like the Lycanthrope wasn't rare. Lycanthrope was a fight-club where my kind was forced to fight until death. And, there was many other reasons for wanting your own wolf-transforming pet. Not just to take to Lycanthrope. Lamia's town was a heaven for vampire's sick trafficking's game. I didn't want to think of the reasons a vampire would want to own someone.
I just wanted to destroy the whole damn town. Emmett was fucking insane. I could see it now. He picked a blood sucking demon over his own boyfriend's well being. No... I can't think of him now. He's dead anyway.
Sometimes people that went into the warehouse... never came back out. And, my pack was forced in there when Lamia raided my pack's territory. As much as my brother's warning for me to leave stuck in my head.... I couldn't shake the feeling I needed to find my twin. Nena was in trouble. And, she needed me bad. It didn't take me long to convince Andrew to take me to the warehouse. All it took was one plea... That my sister was somewhere in that mad-house and needed my help. I could feel her misery.
