"I don't care whose idea it was.
What do you think would happen if he died?"
Meynard asked us as his eye brow twitched. "I trusted you with him." I could hear the annoyance breathing out of his voice. It was unusual to find him emotional about something. I avoided looking at him as my eyes landed on Lamia.
I could see her broken face from not being able to find her husband. She had tried so hard to keep him out of this. Now he was gone and no where to be found. I could see everything was on hold to her. She was consumed with bordom. There were rumors she wasn't feeding. It's like she died the night he was discovered missing.
"Kill the one responsible," Lamia ordered which brought my attention back to the two bickering beside me. Jameson flinched from her orders. Meynard's hand extended as he pulled out a gun from inside his jacket. He shot Jameson in the chest and the room fell silent. The music was shut off. I could sense Felix on edge like he thought the bullet was meant for him. I bit my tongue as I dared not to show emotions for the vampire. Sure, he was a nice guy but he wasn't my friend.
My eyes met with Lamia as she seemed to be in a staring competition with me. "I can't leave you with anyone. I suppose that means you're coming with me." Her eyes stayed connected with mine. I felt my jaw clench with frustation. That meant I was going to be forced to stay with her at the old pack house. My family home would be unoccupied.
"Good ridiance," Felix whispered under his breath. Lamia's lip curcled into a smirk. Her head tilted as she finally took her eyes off me to look at Felix. She exposed two sharp fangs as she began to hiss like a snake.
"Good ridance?" Lamia asked him. Meynard aimed down Felix and Lamia stepped out to be between them. It made Meynard quickly put it on safety and lower it. He slipped it away as it was clear she would deal with Felix. She walked over to us as she seperated and circled him from me. "Did you think this task was too much for you?" She stopped in front of him and forced him to back away as she drew in closer to him. I could smell his cowardly scent fill the air.
"Were you so overwhelmed with this task that you let your partner bring him to such a place? You wanted him dead so you wouldn't have to fill the pressure of taking care of a mutt. Do you think you're superior in this situation and that if you let him die I would just forgive you. Oh well? Good ridance right? Well his life is more important than yours!" She snarled at him as she suddenly shoved him backward. I turned around and widened my eyes as he fell into the pool on the deep end. I heard him groan as his back hit the cement.
"I SAID KEEP HIM ALIVE!" She jumped over the barbwire.
I ran up to the edge to look into the pool.
"Not drag him out to the first fight ring and place a bet on him until he dies."
Lamia started to kick into his head. Her pointed boots were getting scuffed and bloody as he took the kicks. He wouldn't dare defend himself as he spit out blood. I covered my nose and flinched from the sting of the wound on my face. I blushed as I now realized why she had been staring me down so hard. I could hear Felix begging her softly to quit.
I felt my mouth quiver as I begged she would stop hitting him. I didn't enjoy seeing him suffer. It's not like I had anything against him. She stepped back from him and glanced up at me. I was baffled as I woundered if she heard my prayers. I suddenly knew it wasn't me she was looking at as I smelled Meynard coming up from behind me.
"FELIX volunteers for the next round," Lamia yelled out and I heard the crowd agreeing to go through with it. Lamia glanced back down at him. "Stay here until you die," she ordered him. I was left dumbfounded as she backed away from his body. I half expected her to rip him apart and make an example out of him. Meynard rushed down to the pool and helped Lamia walk up the hill and get out of the pool.
"Do you need me to clean off your shoe?" I heard Meynard asking her softly. It was strange to see an old man like him helping a much younger lady coming out of a pool. It seemed like it would be the other way around. It was comical.
"No," she growled out as her eyes landed on me. It was as if she was calling me to follow her. She walked out of the building. The crowd separated for her. She wouldn't stay to see Felix be murdered by the next wolf that followed.
"You said they were the best choice to babysit him. What was that just now?" She asked him as we headed out of the pool area and through a rundown bathroom.
"I will choose better next time."
"There isn't a next time," she said in annoyance. "I will not allow him outside from now on." I felt my breath catch in annoyance. My small amount of freedom was gone, just like that.
We walked out to a waiting vehicle running. It was no surprise to find a vampire waiting in the driver's seat. I was used to their scent by now. It was still disgusting to breath, of course. He was listening to violin music when we got into the back seat. She had slid over for me. She stuck her hand out to take and shut the door in Meynard's face before he could get in.
"Stay and watch the show," she told him through the window and I knew he could hear it. She looked at the driver. "Go." I saw Meynard's jaw clench as he nodded to the driver. We took off in silence as she adjusted herself in the backseat and looked out of her side's window instead. I didn't recognize the driver other than by scent. He was a new escort. It made me grow suspicious that she killed the last one.
Did Lamia come to the arena for a show?
Or, was it because she found out I was going to be in it?
I felt my eyes drifting to her out of the corner of them but I didn't want to stare her down directly and face talking to her. Why does she keep looking at me? Is there something- oh, is it my face? Is she staring at the wound? Is it too distracting for her? She got me here alone to eat me!
"I can't seem to understand why you volunteered for that. If you wanted to die you should have cut your own wrists. That was pathetic."
I faced her as I felt my lips part. Keep talking! Don't let her fall for me.
"It's so hard being here," I growled out. Why else would I volunteer for that? I wasn't suicidal- I was looking for attention.
"Hard? What do you know about hardship? Try living as an immortal with pests like you."
"Try being a mortal with pests like you!" Her eyes raged as I repeated her words back toward her. Her fingers twitched as she seemed to be restraining hitting me. "You know even if I cut myself someone would be there to heal me before my time was up. All it would cause is pain and suffering. This WAS the fastest way. Nobody even knows I'm here. I'm as good as dead." If that wolf had beat me? Not one of them would be fast enough to save me from dying. It would have been the perfect way to escape from her.
"You're right, no one will come for you," she snorted out. She was happy all of a sudden as she lit up by her words. "You're actually not that valuable to keep around. Your family must have forgotten about you since they haven't reached out to bargin for your life. Nobody cares for you, werewolf."
"That's because they believe I'm dead. The last they saw of me was in the warehouse."
"We should send your family a present letting them know you were alive this whole time."
I flinched at the thought.
What was she thinking now?
I could feel the
nerves setting in
as my heart race increased.
Her fangs exposed at me suddenly. I knew then she had heard my heart race and this was the end of everything. Before I knew it I was on my back in the seat and Lamia was hovering over me as she forced my neck into exposure.
She bit down at I screamed so loud the driver swerved. He managed to get the car under control but I was past caring. I was scratching at her arms and trying to pry her from my neck. I shouted as I flicked my knee up into her crotch. I heard her gurgle up blood from laughing. My mind flickered when I realized I was trapped. She was like a weighted blanket times five on top of me.
"Get off! What are you doing?" I asked her as I realized she was really going to kill me. I was in no position of power. I had only a few thoughts of how to win against her. I threatened to transform as my bones snapped, starting in my chest.
"I'm just giving you what you wanted," she told me firmly. I was shellshocked.
I watched as she sat up in my lap and licked her lips clean of my blood. She smirked down at me in pure joy. Her eyes fading away from an ugly red and into a healthy blue color. I could already tell her body was processing my blood as the color in her skin came back to life. She seemed like she was glowing. Her hand reached down and snatched my jaw angrily as her expression grew dark.
"What's wrong? I thought you wanted to die!"
"No!" I shouted as I sat up on my elbows. "I want to live to see my family again. That's something you should know about. It's important to me."
"Important? To whom? The only one that cared about you is dead. Should I refresh your memory? They don't care about you. How many of you are there? Eight? You're replicable to them. They didn't even care about you when Emmett convinced you to leave them." She leaned in suddenly as she hovered over my lips. "But- I care about you. I've been keeping you safe here, Nolan." She crashed her lips against mine suddenly. I flinched as every instinct raged a war inside of me. I was needy for love but at the same time- I didn't want it from her!
I bit down into her lip harshly and tasted a sweet substance fill my mouth as she gasped in surprise. I was taken aback as I knew this was the taste of her blood but it was like candy to my tongue. I hated it. I hate her! I was eating it up as I sucked on her lip and felt myself slowly loosing control over my body.
"I hate you," I growled against her lips as I tried to spell her off with my words.
"I hate you more," she hissed as she ate away at my mouth and stole my tongue as she took it into hers and sucked hard. I was at her mercy at the matter of seconds as her hands got under my clothes and rubbed against my bare stomach. I was left in disappointment as she pulled away to look me over.
I was suddenly surprised when she leaned in and ran her thick-siren like tongue against my face. I felt the soreness of the wound leave the surface as she healed it. I growled in frustration before snatching the hood off of her face to get to her hair. I was surrounded by it as it fell down around us. I snatched it up into my hand as I yanked on it by force. She didn't budge as she eyed me down with a sour face.
"You-You're going to kill me. I'm not useful if I'm d-dead. I think we should make some rules," I told her quickly. She would take this too far if I let her. I would- give in if she kept tempting me.
"Rules are no fun," she told me as she yanked my shirt up to expose my stomach. I felt my heart flutter as I knew the driver was watching from the mirror. I could see his eyes meet mine as mine wondered off for a split second. "Don't you know by now? Besides... I'm the only one that cares rather you're alive or dead. So just relax. I like you alive for now. That's all that matters."
Will I have to play this game to survive?
"How about slight boundaries?" I begged. She's just trying to use me! She's trying to make me her slave... Maybe, I should fake it and see what her intentions for me really are? What if this gets me back to my family? Should I attempt it? I don't think I have a choice!
"None," she snarled. "I do what I want and when I want." She looked toward the driver suddenly. Their eyes met in the mirror and I suddenly felt a horrible feeling swell up in my chest. She took off towards him and suddenly he slammed on the breaks as he tried to hop out of the car. She captured him by the back of his hood and brought him back into the seat only to snap his neck seconds later. She tossed him out of the car and looked toward me.
"Get up here and drive," she ordered me.
"What?" I asked nervously and watched as she crawled into the passengers seat. She eyed me down as she gestured toward the drivers seat. "No."
"I don't know how to work this thing, now come up here~" She patted the arm of the seat. She must be insane, after throwing out the driver!? Why would she get mad at him for staring at us?
I slowly sat up and tried to hide the bulge I was breaking through in my jeans. I can't believe she turned me on back there by threatening my life. She's no where close as handsome as Emmett and she's a girl- vampire! I never thought I could get attracted- so easily too! She's insane! How does she not know how to drive? I don't really know myself... Emmett usually drove us everywhere.
"I don't know either."
"It's easy," she urged.
I was starting to feel like I had no choice.
Fine, Lamia.
You win.
