Delphine and Simon were now thoroughly soaked from the lake, and they both took off their armor and clothes and laid them next to each other. It would not make that much of an impression if they walked out of the forest being wet. They then sat down and had their backs turned to each other; none of them wanted to look at each other without being covered. Delphine looked down at herself as Simon looks up to the sky to see if the morning sun will come and shine down on them. He was already lucky enough to have an attractive woman come to his life, and his strength has increased a bunch because of her.
"Well, I guess we can't go anywhere until our clothes dry up," Simon said.
"Oh, I know. You realize this is all your idea, right?" Delphine asked.
"Yeah... I guess you can say that," he said. Then, he starts to look down at his hand to figure out a way to make it up for Delphine, since he already got her into this mess.
It was her idea to check out the pure lake, and it was his idea to have a little bit of a good time before a new day begins.
"I guess you should feel lucky. Not many people who pass a large forest get to see the other side," Delphine said.
"How would you know? How many times have you crossed such long places?" Simon asked.
"Honestly, I've never kept count. There's usually a time where I don't need to cross a forest just to reach a certain location," she said.
"So, you just cross the high plains and the large cliffs just to get to another city and village?"
"If you want to put it that way, sure. But, there usually comes a time when I have no choice but to cross the forest at my peril."
Then, they did not say anything for about ten minutes as they sat down behind each other as the morning sun has risen. The sun always rises after the demons have disappeared back in the shadows. Delphine and Simon were tired from lots of running and falling; all that mattered to them was being awake and making sure to get some rest. Delphine could hear Simon humming quietly, and she heard that he hummed a lullaby she once knew. She said nothing to him, but he was turning around to look at the back of her head and say something to her.
"Hey, Delphine," Simon said. She had her eyes squinted and her hands covering her breasts as she thought he was going to move beside her.
"There's been something I've meant to say to you before that wolf came to us," he said.
"I'm listening," she said.
"I just... wanted to thank you for making me breathe again. You did what nobody could ever do, and I can't seem to find myself thanking you enough," Simon said.
"You're exaggerating. I did it only to save you, and I did it so that you can still be alive."
"Yeah, that may be true. But I'll never forget that moment. I'm sure you need just as much rest as I do after that healing spell. And I have been wondering, do you conjure up any other magic."
"No. I might learn more magic along the way, but restoration spells are all I know. And you're right. I do need some time to rest."
Then, Simon rests his chin on Delphine's shoulder, and she doesn't move away from him as he did this. Delphine lifts her hand and lays it on Simon's cheek and starts rubbing it for a short while.
"You have been doing this for quite some time. You think you're very good at this?" Delphine asked.
"Well, it is kind of cold. The water tasted good, yet I'm freezing just by thinking about it," Simon said.
"It's your fault, Simon. Deal with it," she said.
"So, how long do you think our clothes will dry up."
"About ten more minutes. Just take this time to rest your eyes a bit."
Then, Simon lets himself go from Delphine's body and turns back around to wait another ten minutes for his clothes to be dried. He starts thinking about something that would leave him on that spot for a while. Then, he looks up at the sky and notices that some of the clouds were starting to appear next to the morning sun. They were not gray clouds, and thankfully, it was not looking like it was going to rain. And before he knew it, another ten minutes have passed and it appears that the sun has been shining down on them.
"Hey, Simon. Put your clothes back on," Delphine said. She was already in her clothes and armor, and she had her greatsword on her side as she spoke to him.
"Wait. How long has it been?" Simon asked.
"You were asleep for about four minutes after I got up. You passed out," she said.
"Oh, great. I'll get back to it," he said. Then, Delphine walks away from him and waits for him to be ready; she waits beside the road and stands where they left off.
She looks down at her hands and still tries to figure out how she learned restoration magic, and she remembers all of it. Many years ago, Lagertha taught it to her and told her the fundamental importance of how and why she must use it. Those days are long gone; she learned that kind of magic a few days after learning how to swing a sword. It took her about six years to master sword-wielding and a few spells before she could roam around the world and hunt demons. Then, Simon walked towards her and stood with her as she is more than ready to start walking again.
"I'm ready," Simon said.
"Alright, then. Let's go," Delphine said. As always, she led the way on the dark road, and Simon continued to follow her like an hour of the morning has passed.
They walked onward until they reached the endpoint of the forest and not stop for anything else. The lake was enough for them to enjoy being around because of how clean the water turned out to be. The only thing that seemed to hold them back was the urgent need of Simon to catch up with Delphine. She was the only person amongst anyone else who would be there for him and guide him through any obstacle. They finally managed to make it out of the vast forest after walking another mile and could hear the sound of owls and birds.
Delphine and Simon were finally able to not see so many trees all at once; they were glad to have made it out alive, unlike some travelers. Delphine was able to see grass all around her, and Simon could see a little bit of snow falling. It was quite rare for Simon to see snow during the spring, but they were already in the Baltic lands. Delphine closes her eyes and felt the cold wind breeze around her, and she looks at Simon to see how he is doing. He was feeling exceptionally well and confident that he can still roam around the earth like he used to.
"We still have a long way ahead for us. But, we'll find ourselves a place to rest," Delphine said.
"Oh, thank God we're out of there. Can't wait to feel more of this breeze," Simon said. Then, he walks towards her and slowly raises his arms to hug Delphine before they can go any further.
She stood there for a few seconds to see what he wants to do, and she seemed a bit confused about whether or not she should try it.
"May I...?" Simon asked. Delphine still appeared as if she had no idea what is going on, but she gave in and accepted his request.
She then raises her arms and allows Simon to hug her; he wraps his arms around her and lightly squeezed her. They both hugged each other before going any further, and it was the first time any of them felt some love come inside them. Then, Simon pressed his head into Delphine's breasts and continued holding onto her as the morning sun is above them. Delphine began to rub Simon's head and comfort him before they could go any further.
Then, Simon thought to himself, I haven't felt this good in a while. Oh, how I'm lucky to have such a sexy lady come into my life. Man, why is a guy like me going through such a hot time right now? It's no wonder she hasn't been with anyone, but me.
"Okay, that's enough. Let's get going," Delphine said. Then, she releases Simon from her grasp and continues leading the way to the next village.
