Taking a long break is the last thing Delphine and Simon would ever do after an onslaught against the demons. Simon continued to feel his chest and felt a lot of pain coming from his body as he walked with Delphine. She began to turn around and look at him for as long as she needed to. Unlike most people, Simon was the only one she ever felt concerned with, and she needed to do something quick about it.
"Simon, come here," Delphine said. He slowly walked towards her and continues feeling the pain; at this rate, he did not know if he can pull out his sword or not.
"What is it?" Simon asked.
"Hold still," she said. Delphine holds out her hand and lays it on Simon's chest, and she closes her eyes to perform a miracle.
"What are you doing, Delphine," he whispered.
"Trust me," she said. Simon looks down and saw that Delphine's hand is lighting up, unlike the rest of her body.
He notices the pain he felt is disappearing and starts to feel a lot better than before; he did not force Delphine to quit touching him. No one ever told him that Delphine can heal people nobody ever told him about her being a friend to those who choose to fight. Simon can breathe again, and he is now able to roam around freely and not in the torment of feeling pain.
"I... I feel much better. What did you do to me?" Simon asked.
"I healed you. I took the pain away from you in a matter of seconds. You will not be able to feel agony again," Delphine said.
"Oh, I cannot thank you enough. I owe everything to you," he said.
"I neither need nor want it. All I want from you is your will and strength to fight on. If you truly desire to be with me, you have to face threats that are far greater than you'll ever know. Let's not waste any more time."
The way out of the forest is about six miles away, and it was only just a straightforward walk that would take about an hour to reach. Delphine and Simon were getting used to walking a whole bunch and got used to going places without a carriage. They proceeded to step out of the forest and not stop for something that would only mean to stand in their way. Delphine and Simon had their swords hanging on their side, and their cloaks were blowing along with the wind around them. The wind is getting much colder than before because they were reaching for the nordic lands to get inside of the towering mountains.
Delphine could handle a bunch of cold wind blowing around her body, but Simon could only feel it if he wore much more armor and more coverings. The road did not seem to change direction as they were almost outside of the forest; somehow, the large cliff was like a terrible shortcut that allowed them to get out of that place much quicker. Delphine did not realize how quickly the night would be over, yet it still took a long time for the sun to rest. Simon already had the strength to push onward because of how quickly Delphine was able to take away the pain. At this rate, Simon wished he could offer so much more for the ebony knight as he followed her.
"Simon, we're almost out of here. We just need to follow this trail," Delphine said. She even saw a small body of water beside the road that has icy rain and a waterfall about twenty feet tall.
She had her suspicions on whether she should take a look at the lake or not since she almost fell inside one a few hours ago.
"Hey, Delphine. You're going pretty slow. I wonder why," Simon said.
"Simon, check it out! It's a waterfall!" She said.
"Indeed. It looks pretty good," he said. He was not as impressed as Delphine was when she took a look at the body of water, and it seemed much different than other lakes.
Delphine walked over to the lake and noticed that not only was it about three feet deep, but the water also did not seem salty. Salty water was widespread to find in lakes and oceans, but some lakes in the world don't have salty water. Simon followed Delphine from behind and stood beside her as she starts to bend down and look at the lake. Then, she takes both of her hands and begins to drink the water from the lake and looked up for a few seconds. Delphine had a feeling that she sipped this water before, but she could not remember how she came across it.
"Are you seriously drinking water from a lake?" Simon asked.
Then, Delphine answered and said to him, "It's pure and clean water. You don't see these types of lakes every day. It's pretty rare to find such a lake. It's said to fill your spirits and make you feel a lot better. But, I've only managed to come across a few of these, and I think this is the last place I can think of that has pure water running on its shores. Also, there's no salt inside of it. Even if you add salt to the water, you won't taste the salt."
"You sure seem to know much about it. I don't pay attention to waterfalls and imaginary lakes," Simon said.
"No, it's pretty real to me. Come on, have a taste."
Then, Simon walks towards the lake, and he slowly bends down to have a look at how clean the water is. He then takes his hands and drinks from the lake; thankfully, the rain did not taste like salt, but it did feel very icy and cold. It has been so long ever since he had the purest of waters, but it was not anything holy or heavenly. The last time he had water, it was not cold or absolute, and it forced him to spit it out because of how nasty it was. Luckily, it did not ruin the aftertaste that he would have if he ever had water again; he began to feel satisfied with how this new water turned out.
"What do you think?" Delphine asked. He thought of it for one second, and he scratched his head to think of an answer to give her.
"That has to be the best water I've ever tasted in a long time. Much better than the ones they serve in the taverns," Simon answered.
"I'm glad to hear that," she said. Simon stayed with her beside the lake, and both of them waited for the morning sun to rise and the night to be over.
Then, he started to have something naughty in mind, and he could not bring himself to tell her what he is thinking.
"Hey, Delphine," Simon said.
"Yeah?" She asked. But, before she could say anything else, Simon splashed some water on her face and stepped back a little.
"Ha, your face is dirty!" He said. Then, he began to laugh a little just by the thought of it; however, that did not stop Delphine from thinking about something to pull from her sleeve.
Delphine walks up to him, puts her hands on his shoulders, and pushes him into the water. He was now even wetter than Delphine was as he is now completely soaked from head to toe. Simon looked up to her and felt as if he had made a terrible mistake by putting lake water on her face.
"Well, would you look at that? Now, you're the one who needs a bath," Delphine said. But, Simon was not done yet with her as he went much closer to her, and he was having some afterthoughts about doing this with her.
He then grabs her right leg and pulls it towards him, which makes her fall on her back. She then looks at him and sees that he has gone mad about touching her and having the gall to pull her into the lake.
"And that was payback," Simon said.
"You started it!" She said. Then, Delphine uses her leg and kicks the water onto Simon's body and watches him overreact to it.
She then gets herself up from the ground and looks at Simon as he starts to have a little fun with her before the morning comes.
"This is child's play. You know that?" Delphine asked. It was during that time that they both start pushing each other on the lake and making sure if one of them gets even wetter than the other.
They did this for another minute or so until they started to realize it is meaningless to be in such a frozen lake. They both decided to get out of the lake and dry themselves up underneath the morning sun as it starts rising.
