It sounded like a thunderous alarm sounding all over the inn and seemed as if somebody was hiding something. Then, the person knocking on the door pulled out a key that fits perfectly onto the lock, and he unlocks the door. That man was a guard; he and another guard walked into Delphine and Simon's room and were investigating upon something.
"Don't move. We're looking for a demon. The half-eaten bodies of two knights were found yesterday in the cathedral. Come with us," he said. Delphine walks towards them and Simon stayed behind her as the two guards were searching for any details that could point them in the right direction.
They searched all over Delphine's body to see if she had any marks or bruises to indicate that she is a demon. But, they didn't find anything relevant, and the guards assumed that Delphine is pure and has no relation with any demon. Suddenly, two young knights came into the bedroom and were very suspicious of recognizing a demon who looked just like Delphine.
"Yeah. She was about that height. Looked pretty suspect, running around the rooftops last night. Didn't you two arrive in town yesterday?" The knight asked. The two knights came walking in and needed to remind Delphine and Simon of their errors of coming to the holy city.
"Harry. Sid. Weren't you two supposed to be on guard duty at the cathedral last night?" The guard asked.
Then Harry went in front of Delphine and said to her, "Ah, take it easy. I'm not saying I think the girl from last night was a demon. It's not like the thing showed up yesterday or today. But, for someone to be hiding her identity and bringing trouble wherever she goes, I doubt any ordinary person could do that."
Simon stood there and acted very confused as to what was going on and what Harry was trying to bring up.
Then Harry continued to speak, saying, "But, maybe there may have been word spreading like mage-fire, that a woman dressed in black armor with a young hunter following behind her cane to this sacred city and made everyone be terrified of her. I've heard the news of you two. Word spreads all over in these cities... nobody can ever forget the story about a dark knight killing the demonic kings of castles and lifting up the great evil. Oh, I know that story quite well. She even carries a metallic blade that can cut down steel and iron, and it can even deflect a ball or fire. I know who you are... Delphine of Moria."
Everyone in the room remained silent and none of them spoke a single word; they were all motionless at the sound of her name. The holy city had no need of anyone who walks in the darkness and causes havoc and brings terror. Delphine stood up and walked up to Harry, and he was backing up from her and keeping his distance. She didn't care what he thought and didn't care what he would do to her now that her true name has been revealed.
Then Delphine said to him, "Yes, I am her. I am the one who will not hesitate to drive away all supernatural evil from the earth. I will chase them all to the ends of the earth. The demonic kings and their lords hide from me because they're not willing to take me down. They would rather stay in their kingdoms, palaces, and hideouts instead of fighting me. Do not expect any kind of mercy from me."
"I don't think you understand the error of your ways, demon hunter," Harry said.
"And I don't think you understand that there is a greater threat waiting to bring you to ruin and death," she said.
"We don't want your kind here, evildoer. We will defend this city from any form of magic and darkness that plague these walls. What are you but a false idol? A usurper?"
"I've already told you who I am. You didn't seem to be listening. I will not hesitate to look everywhere in this cursed world for any monster or those who serve the night."
"Who do you think you are? What are you saying? That you've achieved all of this? That you're the chosen one, a knight sent by God?"
"That's enough! Leave her alone!" Simon shouted. Then, Harry turns his head to Simon and begins to walk towards him to question him, as well.
"And who the hell are you, you worthless cow? You little motherless chuff? You are talking to someone who is a ranked chief of the lookout for wanderers and strangers bringing their horrors to the most protected city in these regions! You ought to know what trouble you're bringing yourself!" Harry shouted.
"You ought to know who you're dealing with as well, you fat piece of trash! Who the hell do you think you are, talking to my sister like that?! She's the kindest, most gentle sister I know! Stop talking to her like you know her because you don't!" Simon shouted. Delphine stood there and looked at him after he said that about her, and she started to turn back at Harry.
"I'll... I'll make you eat those words!" He shouted. Then, he lays one hand on Simon's shoulder and raises his fist to punch the young hunter in the nose.
But before he could do that, Sid stopped him from doing anything that would cause everyone else in the inn to come into the room.
"Sid?" Harry asked.
"We're done here, Harry. Let's go," Sid said. Then, he releases his hand and leaves the room, and Harry turned back to Delphine to say something else.
"Listen closely, ebony knight. If you value your life, then stay out of my sight," he said. And so, Harry, Sid, and the other guards left the bedroom and shut the door behind them.
Delphine and Simon stood there and stared at the door for a long while; Delphine felt underwhelmed and began to assume that everyone in Gisbourne turned their backs from her.
"What a bunch of idiots. Does he even hear himself talking?" Simon asked.
"He may already have seen me last night. And I was too careless to see it through," Delphine said.
"What does that mean?" He asked.
"You came up with that nonsense, so quickly."
"I'm not sure what you mean."
"I mean what you said to that knight."
"Oh. Well, he won't be bothering us again. I'm sure of it. I made up that statement about you being my sister. And I also meant it when I said you were kind and gentle. I really think that."
Delphine became speechless for a few seconds, and she started to feel better inside after being told that she is gentle. She also started to feel conflicted that everything would've gone normal if Harry didn't yell out her real name.
"Even if that man was about to hit you, I doubt I would be able to stop him," Delphine said.
"What?" Simon asked.
Then Delphine answered and replied, "The same goes if he'd tried to hit me. If my life isn't in danger, and my mission isn't at risk, I wouldn't do anything. You're a gentleman, I can tell. But, even that will get you killed. You should know that some people... they scheme, lie, and betray. I'm not a traitor, and I don't live to bring danger... it just seems that way."
"Delphine?"
"I've spoken to father Edward. If I die, and if you like it here, you can stay here."
"But, I can't stay here. Not even you can stay here. I don't even know what to do in this place, other than be on the lookout. I'm sorry, but I can't just throw it all away. I can't just give up being a demon hunter, not after I've discovered what this feeling is. And... why would you want to leave me here in this place?"
Delphine saw that his eyes were red and he was about to break down, and she walked slowly towards him to comfort him.
"I'm doing this for your own good. I know you want to keep coming with me, and I know what it's like to feel agony and pain. I can't die... I won't die until I have fulfilled my promise I made to myself. I only mean to spare you... I only mean to protect you from anything that stands in our way," she said. Then, Delphine puts her hands on Simon's cheeks and holds onto his face, and she rests her forehead on his head.
"I don't ever want to put you in harm's way. I'm someone who is feared by all. But, we could run away together, you and I. We could live together and start a new life when all of this is over," she said.
And then, Delphine releases Simon from his grasp, and she gets ready to leave the inn and meet up with the priest.
