Elsewhere, as the night was still continuing and the moon was slowly setting down, two guards were standing beside each other. They were inside the cathedral when suddenly, one of them heard a clanging noise from behind.
"What is it?" The guard asked.
"I heard something," he answered. Then, the person next to him turned and looked at both sides of the main hall where the noise might be coming from.
"You're imagining things. We just patrolled this area. And we didn't see a single soul," he said.
"That's true," the guard said.
"The entrance to the cathedral is is more heavily guarded than usual. No demon could possibly get in..."
Before that guard could say anything else, he sees that the person beside him has been decapitated.
"What?!" The guard became surprised. He was utterly shocked by the fact that the man lost his head by some unknown force.
"That's... that's impossible!" He shouted. Then, he turns around and sees a gigantic figure from the shadows walk towards him, and he slowly backs away.
"We checked the cathedral top to bottom. Other than a few soldiers, the only ones here should've been the priests! How is it...?" The guard asked. Then, he starts to look closer into the darkness and see the monster grow bigger and taller.
The large creature had dark skin and red eyes, and his sharp nails were powerful enough to slice a man in half.
"It... it can't be. A demon," the guard said. Before he could say or do anything else, the demon's teeth started to increase; the rest of his body started to transform.
Then, the creature charged quickly against the helpless guard and sliced him in two, and the man's lifeless body began to be slowly devoured. The creature looked up to the heavens and roared so loud that some of the stones on the ceiling began to crumble.
Elsewhere, the sun began to rise up and the day was already starting for the holy city of Gisbourne. Delphine was sitting down on a chair and looking at the sun as it rose behind the mountains. As she was sitting down, Simon was already asleep on one side of the bed they were sharing. It was a long night that she went through and an even longer afternoon just to reach the city. She didn't know why she went through the trouble of renaming herself, other than just to hide her identity from secretive people.
Then, Delphine started to get tired after staying up all night, and she knew that she had to get some sleep. And so, she gets up from the chair and starts taking off her armor, her gauntlets, and her boots. Then, she puts her sword aside and lays it next to Simon's sword, and she lays her cloak with her armor. She turns her head and sees Simon rolling to the far left side of the bed; he was dreaming about something, but he couldn't tell her what he was dreaming about. Delphine goes over to the right side of the bed and begins to lay down as the morning has already begun.
Delphine already informed the innkeeper that she and Simon sleep in the morning due to how often they are out at night. She pulls the cover-up to her chest and starts to close her eyes and get some sleep. The bed was comfortable and soft enough to sleep and wake up feeling well-rested. Then, Simon senses something sleeping next to him, and he started to smell the scent that was very strong. It was a mighty, powerful scent that could attract even the lowest of commoners who were unlucky to fall for it. Then, he rolls over to his right and lays his hand on the thing he was imagining in his dream.
Simon didn't realize that his hand is on Delphine's stomach, and he didn't know that his hand was moving across her body. Then, Delphine started to breathe heavily and began to moan as she lay next to the young hunter. It wasn't the first time she slept with him, and she didn't lift her hand to stop him from putting his hands on her. About a minute later, Delphine rolls over and wraps her arm around Simon; she keeps sleeping without being alarmed. It's been a very long time ever since she felt this much satisfaction while being around another person.
Then, Simon starts to grope and fondle this soft thing before him, and he began to feel a bit awkward while doing it. He smelled the person before him and had this strong sensation and wanted to know so much more about this situation.
What? Who... is this? What's this... sensation I'm feeling. Simon thought. He reached out and held Delphine with both of his arms wrapped around her, and he did not let himself go.
Simon started to feel some sort of strength enter his body and felt no pain and no remorse as he slept. There were many instances where he could have gotten up and be surprised at what has been happening. But, he didn't get up from the bed because he was so exhausted and couldn't move another step. Then, he opens his eyes for a few seconds and saw Delphine having both of her arms wrapped around his body. Instead of freaking out, his face was blushing and nothing could be done to change this situation.
Then, he was trying to move away from Delphine, but he could not shove or push her away from him. He started to realize that she was holding him and warming him up from the cold. Then, Delphine puts her left hand on Simon's cheek and lets his head rest on her chest. His head felt really cold to her, and she wanted him to be warmed up so he doesn't freeze when they start walking outside again.
"I suppose I'm awake now," Simon said.
"Shhh. Get some sleep," Delphine said.
"What time is it?" He asked.
"It's still morning."
"Oh, okay. I'm just hoping we don't run out of time."
"Don't worry. We got plenty of time."
"Are you sure you're not hearing any noises from outside?"
"It's alright. They're not gonna come bother us."
"Hey, you never know. There might be a bunch of other people. They might have some more things to say to us."
"If that ever happens, I'll be the one to do the talking. Please, get some rest. You need it."
And so, they both continued to get some sleep as the morning sun continues to rise up. They were both trying to have a good time resting and waiting for more things to do and more places to go. It was quite obvious that Delphine killed the powerful demon that roamed around the roofs of the buildings. But, she didn't know that there was another powerful creature hiding somewhere in the cathedral. She knew that her suspicions would have to get even higher if she wants to know more about the danger within the city.
About an hour later, Delphine starts to open her eyes and yawns for a second; she wasn't exactly sure about how she woke up so unexpectedly. Then, she stops holding onto Simon as he slept, and she slowly gets herself up from the bed. She must've sensed something that triggered her mind and forced her to be awake and ready for the day. She didn't want Simon to be awake the same moment as her, and she didn't want to make a scene. Then, Simon also started to be awake; he started stretching his arms and legs to be able to move a muscle.
"Good morning," Delphine said. Simon turns around and saw her sitting down on the chair that was next to the window.
"Oh, hello," Simon said. He was rubbing his eyes and tried to get a clear vision at Delphine as he is speaking with her.
"Sleep well?" She asked.
"I did," he answered.
"Is there a problem? Is there something you need?" Delphine asked.
"No. Not at the moment. I was just thinking about something."
"You want to tell me what you're thinking about?"
"I'm not sure if I want to. You might not be able to answer it and I may not be able to get the answer I'm looking for."
"It's okay, you can tell me."
"So, what were you exactly doing with me? I haven't had such a feeling before. I'm not really used to being around a bunch of women."
The question he asked seemed to surprise Delphine a little bit, and she understood that she had to give him a good answer.
Then she answered and said to him, "I was only just warming you up from the cold. I've been through a lot of places where the sun shines on both my face and back. And I thought it would be necessary if I could return you the favor. Why, would you rather be cold?"
"Oh, no. Wait, I didn't mean it like that. I mean, I don't mind being warm and cool. Believe me, I've been to many places like you," Simon said.
"Except that I have been to twice as many places as you. And I've traversed many roads and went to many countries and regions more often than you have," Delphine said.
"Well, you're not wrong about that. However, I could go out and see the world for myself if I wanted to. Now, I'm by your side, so it's much simpler," he said.
"You'll get used to it."
And before any of them could say anything else, they both began to hear loud knockings on the door.
