"Are you sure? Maybe you should rest," Simon said.
"I said I'm fine. Time is short. Let's go out," Delphine said.
After leaving their room, Delphine and Simon were heading out towards the front door until the innkeeper stopped them.
"Hey. Headed out?" The innkeeper asked.
"Yes. We're going to take a look around town," Delphine answered. And so, Delphine and Simon started to walk around the city for a little while, and they both had more things to say to each other.
"You keep changing your personality. It's amazing," Simon said.
"I've had some training. Covert operations are something I'm usually good at. I've learned to carry myself so I can blush like an aristocrat or smile like a prostitute," Delphine said.
"Prostitute?" He asked.
"What? Are you interested? Shall I show you?"
"Uh, maybe later."
Then, they both started to hear the church bells ring as they were walking, and they stopped and gazed upon the cathedral.
"This is the cathedral of Clovis, the center of the town," Simon said.
"Let's go inside," Delphine said.
"Alright," he said. Then, they followed the other people who were going inside of the cathedral and started to hear chanting voices.
With the chanting voices, there was orchestra music playing in the background, and there were people praying to whatever god they served. It was all peaceful and quiet as Delphine and Simon continued their way to the back of the cathedral. Delphine looks above and sees many sculptures and paintings of gods and angels who have existed in ages past. Anyone could tell that this city is very religious and its foundations deserved the utmost respect. As they continued walking, one of the guards stood in front of them and stopped them from walking further.
"The baptismal hall is beyond here. It's closed to the general public," the guard said.
"Oh. We came to be baptized," Delphine said. They didn't seem as if they were going in the cathedral to be baptized, but she told Simon to stick to her plan.
"Do you have any proof?" The guard asked.
"Yes," she answered. Then, she hands over an amulet with a holy image on it to remind the guard of the religion she believed in.
"This is proof that you've completed the pilgrim's journey. You may enter," the guard said. And so, he allowed Delphine and Simon to continue further into the cathedral; they had to make sure to remain silent and walk slowly.
"Wow, this is creepy! They have mummies! Must have been some big shot," Simon said.
I knew it. No matter where I go, I can't catch even a whiff of the demon. I guess searching the town is the only thing to do. Delphine thought.
"You there," a priest said. Delphine and Simon turns around and sees a priest who seemed to be expecting them.
"If you're here to be baptized, please come this way," he said.
"Are you father Edward?" Delphine asked.
"Yes," he answered.
"It's an honor to meet you," she said. It was at that moment when she kneels down to receive a blessing from the priest as Simon watches her.
"I baptize you in the name of our Lord. What is the name of yours?" Edward asked.
"My lord is the king of Heaven. I have come from the Baltic lands," Delphine answered. As she said this, Edward's eyes began to open wide in surprise as he started to realize who she really is.
His eyes spoke as if the person he was looking for appeared to be before his very face, and he took a step backward. Delphine slowly opens her eyes and gazed upon the old priest to let him continue his baptismal upon her.
"Then... you are...," Edward said.
"Please lower your voice. Continue, father," Delphine said. Edward began to look at the people who were staring at him and notice him have sweat run down his face.
There was nothing for Simon to do, and he couldn't just force the priest to hand over his blessing upon the dark warrior. Edward slowly walks over to Delphine and places his hands on her cheeks, and he slowly bows his head before her.
Then he whispered to her, saying, "I understand. Let's meet later this evening in the south room on the top floor. There's a curfew at night, so it will be hard to walk around. Will you be alright?"
"Leave it to me, father," Delphine said. Then, she allows Edward to anoint her with some oil with his fingers.
"You are now baptized. Go forth with the mercy of our lord. Forget not the modesty of a child of our Lord," Edward said.
"Thank you very much, father," Delphine said. Then, she turns over to Simon, and he was ready to leave the cathedral and head back to the inn.
"Let's go," She said.
"Alright," Simon said.
"Oh, so that was her. The one we sent for," Edward whispered.
Meanwhile, Delphine and Simon were back inside of the room they rented, and Delphine wouldn't let Simon inside. She was doing something in there as Simon was holding two plates of their dinner; he didn't want the food to get cold.
"Delphine! Let me in!" Simon shouted.
"You can't come in. If you do, I'll knock you out," Delphine said.
"It's not just your room, you know!" he said.
"You swore to me that you would do exactly as I say when I say it. And right now, I'm telling you to wait just a little longer."
"The food's gonna get cold, Delphine. I don't think you like cold food or anything that's undercooked."
"Well, just hope in vain that they just made the food and you came here as fast as you could."
"Delphine, are you... changing in there?"
"No. Are you peeping through just to see my body?"
"Where would you get that idea? Look, your food's getting cold and I'm already starving just by looking at the food. If you don't let me in, I'm just gonna eat without you and you're probably going to starve. You haven't eaten anything the entire day."
"You never hear my stomach growling. If I was starving, then I would immediately open the door and eat every last scrap of food on that plate."
Then, Simon started to feel embarrassed by just thinking about what was behind the door as he was holding the food. He didn't know if Delphine was naked or if she was doing something that may attract him to do it with her. Even though they didn't know each other for long, he knew many things that women had on their bodies. And so, he gently placed down one of the plates and lays his hand onto the door handle, and he opens the door. Then, he picks that plate back up and pushes the door all the way open with his hip, and he walks into the room and sees Delphine.
Delphine was actually polishing the room and making sure that nobody was touching her armor, and she also made sure that nobody touched Simon's armor.
"What is it, Simon?" Delphine asked.
"I have dinner for us," he answered. He seemed a little embarrassed as he had to barge into the room to make sure that nothing bad was happening.
"Why do you have that look on your face?" Delphine asked.
"Huh? Well, I thought you might die, so I... wanted to make sure that you were alright," Simon answered.
"Seriously? A little cleaning isn't gonna kill me," she said.
"But you sounded pale, and I could hear you breathing strangely and making weird sounds."
"I don't think I was breathing strangely."
"Then what was that noise? It sounded like you were in heat."
"When you're cleaning glass, you breath on it first, don't you?"
"Then what about the moaning?"
Delphine started to give him a confused look as he asked that question; if she moaned, it would probably be if she was embarrassed by something.
"The inn has this room cleaned regularly, but they missed a lot of the details. When I looked at the cups, I saw they still had tea stains from whoever drank out of it last. That's enough to make anybody moan in disappointment," she said.
"Oh, I see. But if you'd told me you were cleaning the room, I would have offered to help, you know," Simon said.
"Everyone has their own unique way of cleaning things, so in the end, it's just faster to do it myself. My family had their own ways, and I'm sure you do too, right?" Delphine asked.
"Yeah, I guess so."
"Anyway, I'm finished, so you can come back in again. Thank god, what a relief to have that done."
Then, Simon brought the food into the room and placed the two plates onto the round table for the two of them to start eating. He was just as excited as ever to eat his food as Delphine was making sure none of the food spills on the floor.
