A few hours later, Simon gets himself up from the grass, and he stretches his arms and legs, and he started to look around. He felt well-rested and ready to start the new day; since it was his first time following Delphine, he'll have to know that she doesn't wake up the same hour as him. Then, he walks around to see where Delphine went, and he started to yawn a little bit while walking. To his surprise, Delphine was sleeping behind the spot where he was asleep before the large tree which stood next to the cliff. Delphine was still sleeping as he was awake, and he was getting a bit confused as to why she was not awake yet.
"Delphine?" Simon asked. He started to shake her arm and wanting her to be awake like he was; Delphine was a hard sleeper and pretty challenging to be awoken.
"Delphine, wake up," Simon said. But it still didn't seem to be working on him as he was still shaking her shoulder; he also tried poking her cheek a little bit.
Suddenly, Delphine began to feel Simon shaking her and slowly opens her eyes, and she turns her head and sees Simon trying to wake her up. She had her cloak wrapped around her body, and her armor was cast aside along with her sword. Then, she turns her head back around and refused to move around because it was early in the morning.
"Delphine, come on," Simon said.
"Leave me alone," Delphine whispered. Then, Simon sat down next to her, and he started to rub her shoulders and poke her some more.
"Hey, Delphine?" He asked.
"What?" She asked.
"Delphine, wake up."
"No."
"Please, wake up."
"Why?"
"Because you said that you wanted to be up so that we can get moving. And I'm right here trying to wake you up."
"So?"
"So... why not be awake like I am."
"It's still morning. Just wake me up in a few hours, and we can leave."
The answer that Simon received didn't seem to make much sense to him, and he sat there trying to think about what to do. He was still a bit tired even after getting a few hours of sleep; he started to feel cold as he could slightly feel the cold wind. Then, he began to lay down and wrap his arm around Delphine's body so that he can be warmed up. Delphine turned around and saw Simon holding onto her, and she believed that this was his first time having a warm body to sleep with.
"What do you think you're doing?" Delphine asked.
"I'm cold. And I want to be warmed up. It's not like we're doing anything right now," Simon said. Then, Delphine said nothing more as Simon is being warmed up by her smooth, warm body during the morning.
It wasn't widespread for Delphine to be walking around as the sun rises, and the long night is vanquished. Simon wasn't holding Delphine very tightly, but he mostly held onto her back and her right shoulder; he felt twice as comfortable than before. When it came to resting and sleeping, Delphine always had her black cloak wrapped around herself, and she still had her armor tossed aside. Simon never knew how soft and smooth a woman's body could be; he never had that much experience with women. The only thing Delphine felt while sleeping was Simon grasping onto her, but he knew he wouldn't do anything that would go against her.
A few hours later, it was eleven o'clock, and the sun was above Delphine and Simon as they slept; it wasn't hot, but the temperature was cold. Then, Delphine opens her eyes a little and starts to notice that the grass was bright green, and there were only a few clouds in the sky. She turned around and saw that Simon was sleeping on the grass and didn't have his hands on her arms. Then, Delphine starts to shake him a little bit and rub his left arm, and she was now wide awake.
"Alright. Simon, wake up," Delphine said.
"For what?" Simon whispered.
"You said you wanted to leave here, remember? You said you were ready to start the day," she answered.
"Oh. Well... yes, I was."
"Very well. Let's get going."
Then, Simon gets up from the ground and lets Delphine get herself ready to leave; he puts his armor on and gathers his belongings together. It didn't take him as long as Delphine took to put his armor on and wrap his cloak around his armor. After that, Simon puts on his boots and gauntlets, and he wraps his scabbard onto himself and puts his sword into his sheathe. Delphine always took about ten minutes to put her armor on to make sure none of the essential things fall off. Then, Delphine walks over to where Simon was and saw that he was ready to set out into the world.
"Simon, come here," Delphine said.
"Sure. What is it?" Simon asked.
"There's something that I need to tell you. I need to make sure that you understand what I am about to say," she answered.
"Well, I'm right here. So, what's on your mind?"
"I had a little chat with that... woman as you were sleeping. She told me that the next place that we are going to is a holy city. The request came from there. They want us to hunt down a hunter demon that's appeared in town. That means anything unnatural such as certain things and unholy people are not allowed into the city. Of course, that includes the two of us.
"This is a matter of special urgency. We've been therefore asked to enter the city without revealing ourselves and to dispatch the monster quickly and quietly. That's the specific request."
"What's this place called?"
"The holy city is called Gisbourne. It's named after the city's founder. Ever since then, it's been a city dedicated to worshipping God."
"God? What god?"
"Some people have their religion. There are gods whom people of their nature worship. Odin, Zeus, Jupiter, the saints, the apostles."
Then, Delphine and Simon started to walk from that spot and began to continue onto the long, dark road. As they walked, they began to discuss religion and both of their beliefs as it was ten minutes after noon. Still, it wasn't very cloudy, for it was mostly sunny, and there were barely any people coming their way. There was so much for Simon to know and understand about Delphine as he remained with her. Then, he began to walk beside Delphine and wanted to know of the God whom she worshipped.
"Well, I promise not to tell anyone. But, what god do you worship?" Simon asked.
"I worship the one true God. The Lord. The king of Heaven," Delphine answered.
"Ah, so you're a Christian. You desire to go to heaven when you die," he said.
"Of course. I was baptized long ago. My family always believed in only one god, worshipped only one god, and prayed to only one god. So yeah, I've always been a Christian. But what about you? What's your religion?
"What are your beliefs? Or, do you have the same religion and the same god as I do?"
The questions that Delphine asked seemed easy to answer, but it was somewhat challenging to develop on the matter at hand fully. Simon believed in the Christian faith and worshipped the creator of heaven and earth.
"Yeah... I believe in God. Of course, I also have always believed in one god. I've always been religious and kept the Christian faith as you have," Simon said.
Then Delphine said to him, "Oh, good then. Maybe now it won't be so complicated once we get there. Maybe the priests wouldn't have to waste our time so that they can know our god. Indeed, they will have no choice... they are all devoted to faith and prayers. Now they won't see us as some peasants who wish to walk into their city and cause havoc."
Simon took it to heart that Delphine wished for all of this to be done quickly and not have it be so complicated. If Delphine and Simon had different beliefs and worshipped other gods, it would've nearly been impossible for the two of them to be taken lightly. The city of Gisbourne was far different than any other city in its region, and it was one of the only cities in the world which was made as a sanctuary for newcomers. All the other cities in the world were either controlled by a kingdom or were abandoned by the people as they left it behind.
"I almost forgot to mention this. But when we're there, we won't go by our real names. We will go by our traveling names," Delphine said.
"Oh... and what will our names be?" Simon asked.
"First off, we'll start with my name. I am Miriam of Locksley, a traveler of the far west and a noble adventurer. You are Mandy of Narvik, a noble swordsman, and a good cook," she answered.
