We went to a little restaurant for lunch. It was lovely. Dieter ordered noodles and I ordered chicken stir fry. Our hands were joined across the table. People were looking and were trying to take pictures sneakily. Dieter glanced around nervously.
'I'm sorry, do you want to move?' He asked squeezing my hand.
'No, it's fine. The media is gonna find out one day.' I said and put some chicken in my mouth. He smiled.
'I've only ever dated two girls. One was with me for the publicity, the other hated the cameras.' I raised an eyebrow at him.
'Why are you telling me about your ex's. You want me to tell you mine too?' I said eating more stir fry. Dieter chuckled.
'Your neither of the two and thats attractive for me.' He said. I looked at him.
'Comes naturally.' I mimicked him from the shower this morning. He laughed. 'Your attractive too.' I added, winked and carried on eating. He smiled.
'But please do tell me about your ex's.' He said. I looked at him. He smiled and nodded. I sighed but smiled.
'I've dated three people, four if I count you.' I told him.
'Oh yeah, were they nice guys?' He held my hand tighter.
'One was very much a physical connection. One was very much a meaningful connection. The other was both.' I took a sip of my drink. Dieter nodded his head and looked at me like he wanted me to say more. I laughed.
'Levi was the physical connection guy. Lots of sex. He turned out to be a scum bag and couldn't keep it in his pants. Renn was the meaningful connection guy. Lots of cuddles, snuggles and kisses. He moved away and we stopped dating but we're still really good friends. Then there's Olly. It was a meaningful and physical relationship with him. We were best friends before we started dating but it just felt weird so we went back to friends, we kind of drifted apart and I don't really talk to him anymore.' Dieter nodded again.
'What type of connection is ours would you say?' He smiled.
'I think both. But a little more meaningful though. You and Renn are the only people outside the family who I've told about my past.' I took a big mouthful of food. Dieter looked at me.
'I can agree with you there. Thank you for opening up.' he looked in my eyes and smiled. I finished my mouthful.
'Thank you for listening.' I smiled back. He leaned over the table and kissed my cheek.
'Anytime, darling.' His thumb stroked my hand. He took a deep breath. 'Do you possibly want to have dinner with me and my dad.' He asked. I looked up.
'Yeah sure.' I said shyly. 'Don't think your meeting my parents though.' I giggled.
'Oh is it cause they live back in England.' He asked.
'That, and the fact they both hard working lawyers and were never at home, and when they were at home they were bastards.' Dieter looked at me.
'That's fine. But don't you have a sister?' He said. I laughed a bit.
'My sister is worse then my parents. She couldn't care less about me or Callum.' I said.
'I'm sorry. Your family seems like a pain. Except Callum though.' He smiled.
'Don't apologise. That's why me and Callum are so close.' I finished my stir fry. I thought I would change the subject.
'When are we meeting your dad?' I asked.
'I don't know I'll have to call him. To see when he's free.' he said, glancing at his phone screen. The waiter came and took our plates.
'Any desserts?' He asked. He had a clear German accent.
'Uhh...jumbo ice cream with two spoons please. Ooo! Wait. Ist der Balkon leer?' Dieter said.
'Ja.' The waiter said. 'Gehst du bald hoch?'
'Nach dem Eis.' Dieter smiled.
'Soll ich es schließen, nachdem du da oben bist?' The waiter said glancing at me.
'Ja bitte' Dieter answered.
'Your ice creams will be here shortly.' He said before walking off. I raised an eyebrow at Dieter. He looked at me and smiled.
'What was that.' I said. Dieter just tapped the side of his nose. When our ice cream came it was placed in the middle of the table. We both tucked in.
'I love ice cream.' Dieter said with his mouthful. I giggled.
'Clearly.' I smiled. He dropped his spoon and put his hands to his head.
'BRAIN FREEZEE!' He yelled. I burst out laughing. He finished the ice cream off.
'Come with me.' He said quickly and he speed walked up some stairs in the corner.
'Hey! Wait for me!' I ran after him. 'Dieter, what are yo-' I got to the top of the stairs. There was a beautiful balcony. I was looking over the city. It was made if glass. I breathed in it smelt wonderful. Dieter was leaning on the glass fence opposite, looking out. I walked up behind him. Staring at the view I started to shiver a bit in the cold. Dieter pulled me towards him. His body cocooned mine.
'It's beautiful.' I said.
'Yes it is.' He hugged me tighter. 'I haven't taken anyone up here ever.' he said.
'I'm glad you have.' I smiled.
'The best for the best.' he told me. I giggled.
'I love you.' I said before my hands clasped over my mouth. I felt his body jerk up in surprise. Then he did the unexpected. He took my hands from my mouth and held them tight.
'I love you too.' He whispered in my ear.
