Chapter 27 - Mama River

'There's nothing to tell.' I laughed and shook my head, whilst grabbing some liquors.

'Nothing to tell? NOTHING TO TELL!?' He yelled. 'How did he ask you to be his girlfriend? How was the modelling? What did you wear? How's the relationship going? Is he good in bed? How long is his-'

'OKAY!' I stopped him. So I told him, I told him about the truck and field and what we did there. About his house and I opened up to him about something pretty big and important in my life. How the modelling went really well and how I was modeling lingerie. About how he took me out for lunch. I told him about the balcony and the cliff and how lovley it was. River had pretty much perfected the drink.

'Marry the guy.' He said after a while. I laughed. He smiled.

'Okay, what about you.' I looked at him.

'What do you mean?' He stopped what he was doing and looked at me.

'What about you and Harper? Have you done anything since-' I started to say.

'Since the incident! Since THAT night.' He interrupted. I giggled. He took a long sigh and rubbed his eyes.

'I don't know. We're all flirty and cuddly but it's very much a physical thing we have.' He said.

'That's how me and Dieter started out.' I stopped what I was doing.

'Yeah, you guys have a lot of emotional connection though, not saying that there is no physical attraction at all because the sexual tension is fabulous, you just have a lot more chemistry.' He closed his eyes and tilted his head so he was facing the ceiling. He clenched his jaw which made his already razor sharp jawline more defined. He sighed again and took a sip from one of the drinks we made. I was about to say something else but Margie came back around the corner.

'Right, go home you two! I'll clean up, shoo!' She said swatting us away.

'Are you sure?' I asked. She looked at us and swatted her hand again. We got our bags then left.

'Hey, Bella.' River tapped my shoulder.

'Yea?' I turned around.

'Can I have help with something?' He asked.

'Sure, what is it.' I said.

'It's my mama's birthday soon and I really want to get her something nice because we're going through a rough bit again, so could you come to the mall with me if you're free?' He pushed his glasses up his nose.

'Sure!' I thought it was sweet seeing him care so much. We started to walk to the mall. 'Y'know I used to be a stylist back in England for a bit.' I told him.

'Really?' He sounded a bit shocked.

'Yeah.' I laughed a bit. He took out his phone then tapped the screen a couple times before handing it to me. It was a picture of a woman. She had the same auburn hair as River with a couple of grey streaks. She was a pretty lady with striking shiny green eyeshadow. She had a mustard linen top on with a necklace that had big green and purple beads strung onto it. She was sitting at a restaurant with a glass of wine in front of her and a gorgeous little smile on her petite lips.

'Is this your Mother?' I asked, looking at the picture.

'Yeah.' He smiled.

'She's beautiful.' I told him handing back the phone.

'She's where I get my looks from if I have any at all.' He laughed a bit.

'Are you close with her?' I asked him. He hesitated then took a deep breath.

'Most of the time we're fighting or in an argument but when we're not we're the bestest of friends.' He looked at the picture, smiled then put the phone away. 'My papa left when we lived back in Spain. I was only about two.' He explained.

'I'm sorry' I stopped and looked at him. He stopped too.

'It's not your fault.' He smiled. I started walking again. I'd thought I would change the subject.

'What does your mama like?' I asked.

'I don't know. You're the stylist!' He joked. When we got to the mall. River ended up getting her a handful if things. He got her chocolates, spanish chocolates, some clothes, a pair of shoes, some kitchen things, some paints because she apparently loves to paint a portrait of everything and some picture frames River planned on putting pictures of himself and her in.

'That's lovely River.' I told him, as we walked out of the last shop.

'Do you think it's enough?' He rubbed his neck.

'More then enough.' I laughed.

'Thanks for the fashion tips.' He looked at the clothes bag.

'No problem.' I giggled.

'Let me buy you a coffee in thanks.' He smiled.

'Yeah.' We went the coffee shop. I ordered an iced coffee latte and River ordered a Spanish coffee. We sat at a table. We were just talking and laughing around a bit. I got a call.

'Sorry.' I was getting my phone out my bag.

'No problem.' He said while talking a sip of his drink with his dark eyes glancing everywhere in the cafe. It was Dieter.

'Heya.' I said as I answered.

'Hi, babes. Do you like indian curry's?' He asked. I giggled.

'Yeah? Why?'

'Thats what we're having for lunch tomorrow with dad.' He told me.

'That's fantastic. What are you doing now, gummie?' I asked.

'Just running some errands and grocery shopping. What about you?'

'I'm out with River, picking some gifts out for his mum's birthday.' I told him.

'Awh lovley. Sorry for disturbing you.' He said.

'Ah. No worries! See you tomorrow.'

'Bye baby.' He said then hung up the phone. Then River's phone rang.

'Blimey, aren't we popular.' He said. I giggled. He took the call it was only short he only said 'Yes' a couple of times. Then he put is phone away.

'Just Margie checking that I managed to learn the drink recipe and checking up on us.' He smiled.

'Bless her.' I smiled too. We finished the coffees then he drove me home, we hugged and said goodbye. It was 7.00 by the time I was home. I was exhausted from shopping so I just made sure Freya was alright then went straight to bed.

When I woke up and remembered I had a dinner with Dieter and his dad then a shift at the bar. Callum said he would come visit the bar with Bailey. I grabbed my phone and checked the news. I scrolled down a bit the saw this one article of me and River yesterday. I clicked it and read the headline:

'Arabelle Grayson cheating on Dieter Harris?!' My heart went to into my throat.
