CHAPTER 35- THE BIG DEAL
Ma Roo pitied her seeing that he couldn't send a girl in pyjamas outside especially when it was winter. His cold heart had melted down over Rin's stay. "Mi Na, come!" He told her. "Me?!" She put her palm in her chest in disbelief. "I won't repeat myself." He then walked away. She smirked seeing that whatever she was up to had worked. She ran following Ma Roo from behind. They found Rin in the leaving room in her zebra pyjamas reading a book. "Ma Roo, you are back." She then saw Mi Na coming shyly from behind Ma Roo. "Rin, this one will stay here for tonight. You can share the room." He explained seeing a puzzled look on Rin's face. "Oh! Hi!" She didn't say much. "Thank you." Mi Na said as she pushed the strands of hair in her face behind her ear. "No problem." Rin then went back to reading her novel.
"Rin, weren't you waiting for me to have dinner?" Ma Roo asked seeing food on the untouched food for two on the dining. Whenever they had made food for three, the other person would be Saet Byul but today she wasn't there. "I feel sleepy; I'll go sleep now. I have no appetite." Rin said. She left the food for Mi Na. "But you haven't eaten since lunch." Ma Roo grabbed her hand as she was passing. Though, he understood what she was trying to do. He didn't want her to do so. The food they made was always just enough for them. "I'll just go and cook myself something simple. You two eat first." Ma Roo pushed Rin to the dining table. "You two, I am fine. I am not hungry." Mi Na knew what was going on. "Whatever! I don't feel like eating shrimps today." Ma Roo said and headed to the kitchen.
Rin and Mi Na were eating their food silently. Mi Na was stealing glances from Rin. She had seen what happened today. "Do you love Ma Roo?" Mi Na asked bluntly. "Why do you ask?" Rin said. "Just answer me." She said as ate small portions of rice. "what if I do?!" Rin said fixing a scary look at her with her grey eyes. "Better not love him." She frankly. "Why wouldn't I? What would you do?" Rin didn't know what this girl was up to. "You seem so naïve. Let me tell you something, humans can be scarier than you think." Mi Na said stretching the word 'human' so much trying to show Rin she knew but wasn't scared of whatever she was.
"Oh! Can they?" Rin didn't know why the girl was acting like this. "What are you two conversing?" Ma Roo came back with rice and sea weed soup with other side dishes. "Nothing! I am tired. I'll go to bed." Rin stood up and left the two in daze. Ma Roo ate his food silently. He didn't have much of any discussion to chat with Mi Na. "Ma Roo, why didn't you come to school today?" She asked. "I had a cold and… diarrhoea." He came up with an excuse. "Oh! I see." She gave a little chuckle that you could hardly hear. Ma Roo also felt bored eating without Rin, so he just took a few bites and cleaned up the table. When he came back, he told Mi Na acting to sleepy, "I'll go to bed now. See you tomorrow." He said.
Mi Na remained alone at the dining. She dropped her chopsticks down and mumbled to herself. "Let's see what my energy will bring me." She then stood up and went to Rin's room. She found Rin had already slept. The bed was large enough for two people to share but Mi Na just got a blanket from Rin's closet and slept on the ground and put out the light but when Rin got up she put them back on since she didn't like the dark.
A few minutes to six, Mi Na got up and went to the bathroom, she got her phone and put t to video recording mode and placed behind the curtain but the camera could still get everything in the bathroom. She smirked and got out and went back to sleep. When it was 6, Rin got up and went to bathe. She wanted to make breakfast for Ma Roo this time., so she got up earlier before he woke up. She bathed and came out in her white bathrobe. She dried her hair with the blow drier and then wore a black sweater shirt and a pair of black jeans.
When Ma Roo woke up, he found breakfast ready already. He smiled and went to the kitchen and found Rin washing the pans. He wanted to scare her, so he tiptoed, came and held her eyes tightly. "Ma Roo, I heard you already." She smiled feeling that he was so near their bodies touching. She felt all red. Ma Roo felt disappointed and took off his hands. Rin turned to see him. "Hey, why are your eyes so pink? Your face too. Are you sick or are you on heat?" He teased her. "Hey, what are you saying?" She punched him in the chest playfully.
"Rin! Let me go get Mi Na somethings she will need in her house." Ma Roo said. "Ma Ro, actually I think…" Before Rin could finish Ma Roo covered her lips with his index finger. "I know you don't feel comfortable around her." He guessed right, he had learnt Rin's eye colour meanings nowadays. He saw her eyes grey yesterday. That's when she normally feels uncomfortable. Ma Roo went leaving Rin speechless. Ma Roo opened the door with the master key. He went got Mi Na a tooth brush and some other things she might need such as under wears and clothes but when he came out, in the first place he had not noticed it but he saw something strange. "Is this even possible?" He said barely believing it. He walked to the kitchen, then back to room and living room.
When he came home, he went to Rin's room straight and found Mi Na still sleeping on the ground. "Hey, neighbour!" He called her. "Yes?" She said groggily. She sat down and looked at Ma Roo sleepily. "Why are you sleeping there on the floor?" He asked. "It's nothing much. Rin wasn't comfortable with me sleeping together with her on the bed, so she told me to sleep here. She kind enough, she even gave me a blanket." Mi Na said rubbing her red wrists.
"Did Rin really?" Ma Roo could hardly believe it. "It's nothing, at least you let me in. thank you." She said with a smile. "But today, I went to your house today but noticed something strange." He said after remembering. "What is it?" she was curious to know. "Ma Roo, what are you doing? You'll be late for school." Rin said on the doorway. "Ok, let me come. Mi Na, you can go take a bath, in this bag. There are somethings you might need. You can use Rin's clothes." He then went and left.
"Rin, why did you tell her to sleep on the floor? That's a bit too much." Ma Roo said as they ate the rice dumplings Rin had made. "No, I didn't." Rin denied the accusations. "Rin, you have all rights to be angry at me but it's not fine to treat people like that." Ma Roo remembered seeing Rin's side he didn't know yesterday. He thought she was fully capable of telling a poor young girl to sleep on the floor. "Ma Roo, I thought that she liked to sleep there so I didn't stop her." Rin tried to defend herself but Ma Roo didn't listen to her. He only ate a few dumplings and drank some water, then he went to his room. He came with his brown leather bag. "Rin, I'll head to school now." He said. "Bye!" Rin had no appetite anymore. Just as she was about to leave the dining, Mi Na came wearing her white sweater with her black pants with her white hair band.
"How do I look?" Mi Na said with a devious smile on her face. "You can eat and leave after that." Rin said with low spirits. "Oh, look at you. Ma Roo believed me instead of you and this is just the beginning." She then sat and picked up the black chopsticks. "are you the one that told Ma Roo that nonsense?" Rin asked her with a straight face. "What if I am? The difference between us is that I am human and you are not." She said as she poked the dumplings without eating them. "You! How did you know?" Rin now knew that she knew her identity.
"Oh, are you going to kill me? If you do kill me Ma Roo will suspect you, for sure. He'll then hate you. I bet you don't want him to despise you." She said. "What are you trying to do?" Rin asked. "Oh, poor you! So naïve. I love Ma Roo and I know you do too, so better back down before I make this into a big deal." Mi Na said and then added on, "My father is rich, I can help pay all his debts. Can you? I bet you want the best for Ma Roo, so go back in the sea when am still generous enough." She blackmailed Rin. Rin folded her hands into fists and got out of the apartment. Mi Na remained lone in the room smiling.
