Chapter 34 - Chapter 38; A fatal twist at an unexpected time

CHAPTER 38- BETRAYAL AT THE LEAST EXPECTED TIME

The next morning, Ma Roo got up and took a shower, after putting on a white sweater with two red stripes on each sleeve and a pair of light blue pants. He went to the fridge and noticed that it was empty. "I need to go for a little grocery shopping." He murmured to himself and went in his room and the grabbed his wallet. After making sure Ma Roo was gone, Rin also got out of her room. She went to his room and the first thing her eyes met was the white bear holding a red heart. She walked to where it was and carried. When she flipped the bears heart unintentionally, she saw the three words sewed on the heart. But if you looked closer, you could see fading black ink of the word 'Rin' in English letters. Rin had learnt to read English over the months, so when read this, she felt her heart pound. She placed back the bear where she had found but her eye colour had changed to pink.

Across the building, a black motorcycle was parked with a man wearing a black tinted helmet was watching Ma Roo walk out. After seeing that he was out, he then made a phone call, "Boss, the target is out. What should I do?" The man asked. "Get the girl!" The man on the other side of the phone said.

While Rin was inside, she heard the doorbell ring. She went to answer it. "How may I help you…" She couldn't finish her words when the man put a drugged handkerchief on her nose and lips. After she went unconscious, he carried her and went away with her.

When they brought her to Ma Suk, he was excited. "You can go now." Ma Suk said. He went to the bathroom with his phone and filled the tub with water. "I can't wait to see everything. Ma Roo, you have to repay for ruining my life."

Ma Roo had went to a grocery store, he got a few bags of things he needed to make a lavish breakfast. As he was coming out, he saw white roses at a florist's. He bought well packaged bouquet in a pink gauze with red hearts drawn on. He smiled as he looked at the flower, "Rin, will for sure love these. I even know her favourite colour. He was still mumbling to himself when he received a phone call. "Ah, geez! Don't ruin my mood." He rejected the call from whoever it was. His phone rang a few seconds just after he had just hang up.

He answered it this time, "Hello!" He answered formally. "You are late for training. When are you coming? Do you know that you are just sponsored? I'll fire you." The man on the other end of the phone pontificated. "Sir, I quit. You can save your energy. I won't be coming back from now on." Ma Roo said aloofly. "You!" The man was going to squabble but Ma Roo just hung up. "Fuck! Why doesn't he just stop calling me?" Ma Roo was almost going to throw his phone when his phone rang again. He thought it was the man from the agency again but it wasn't the number was unknown caller. He just hung up.

Ma Roo had reached home, he took off his shoes and changed to slippers. "Rin, now wakes up late!" He mumbled to himself. He went to the kitchen with the grocery. He got a phone call just as he was about to open fridge to organise whatever he had bought.

He got another call, his eyes got red from anger. Was it a phone call day? If it was, why choose to call him only. "Hello! Please, whoever you are. Call later in three hours." Ma Roo said. He had answered without looking at the caller ID this time. "Ma Roo, it's me Saet Byul." Saet Byul said in a low voice to extent of almost a whisper. "Saet Byul, why are talking like that?" He asked.

"Doesn't matter but my dad and his sister's son, I think they did something to Rin from what I heard this morning." She said from the bathroom where she was. "Saet Byul! Where are you?" Her father called her before she could tell more to Ma Roo. Ma Roo ran to Rin's room and didn't find her there but he had her shoes inside, could she have changed them? Where did she go? These questions were enfolded on his brain.

"Saet Byul, what did they do?" Ma Roo asked. "Can't talk now, my dad's looking for me. Sorry." She hung up. Ma Roo noticed when the call had ended that Saet Byul's phone number had a name on it, 'Cheeky Clever Brat'. He then dialled the number that had called him just before Saet Byul praying for it to be who he thought it was.

"Look, who has called again?" Ma Suk chuckled. He hung up and he then redialled using video call. "Is he nuts?" Ma Roo was impatient. When he answered the video call, it was who he thought it was. "Ma Suk, what did you do to Rin? You'll regret it." He said. "Oh, you thought you were the only who got the chance to enjoy yourself with a mystical fairy-tale creature. I am going to pay you on behalf of my mother. Your dumb father divorced her for your sake and when he begged you to come back, you refused. Don't worry, the girl, I won't hurt her much." He chuckled.

"Why did you kidnap her? Can you show me to her? Where are you right now?" Ma Roo said as if he was walking on nails. "I never thought that seeing you in that state could be fun but I think it'll be more fun after whatever I'll do. There is your girl, calm down, I haven't done much yet." Ma Suk moved the camera to the bed where Rin was lying unconscious. "Don't dare to do anything to her. Where are you? Torture me instead of her, it's me who you want." Ma Roo said. "No, torturing her is more torture for you than torturing you yourself." He then hung up. "son of a bitch." He cursed and re-watched the video of the call.

He had recorded it just in case. "I know where this is. His condo." Ma Roo had went there once or twice. He ran out immediately.

Ma Suk on the other side, he went to the kitchen and got a knife. He went to the bed where Rin was and slit her wrist. As he expected, purple blood flowed out, "Ha, amusing." He chuckled seeing that her wound healed a few seconds after he had cut her. He then slit her a few times on the hand again. The wounds healed again. "Wow, this is fun." He started slitting every visible part of her body he could see. "Why are some wounds not healing by now?" It was a few minutes later that other wounds he had made long ago were just healing slowly according to how fast they were healing at first.

"Now, maybe, it's time to see you turn fish." He carried the unconscious Rin to the bath tub he had filled with water. When he put her there, he waited almost for a few 10 minutes when she wasn't turning mermaid. "Why is she not transforming?" He was confused, he was eager to see her transform but she wasn't doing so.

At Saet Byul's father's apartment, he was having breakfast with her. "Saet Byul, that necklace? Why aren't you wearing it?" He noticed. "I threw it in the trash." She said indifferently. "Are you crazy? Which trash is it?" He stood up from anxiety. "I first smashed it to ash before trashing it." Saet Byul said with a smirk.

Her father felt like dying when he heard. "Are you stupid? Are you even my daughter? Useless girl. Fuck this shit." He said out of anger. "If you were buying a camera, you should have bought the one that transmits data on your monitor and saves it from there. Not a new useless model. You should have just married your sister and adopt your nephew for a new family." She said with spitefulness. He came to where she was and slapped her. He had never laid a finger on his daughter and regretted hitting her just now. "Apologise, right now. Do you even know why I did that?" He shouted at her. Saet was shedding tears now. "I won't apologise; I mean everything I said. You and mom, don't even care about me. Mom cares about her job most and you are always thinking about your sister. Have you ever asked me what I wanted? After they told you, I was being bullied at school. You didn't even go to the school to punish those who bullied me or fight for me, you just changed schools. Then when you were tired you made home-school. Do you two think giving me freedom of doing whatever I want will make me forget that you actually don't care about me. My birthday was last week but you didn't even come. When mom is always at work, I have to cook for myself. I suffered from appendicitis and took myself to the hospital. For once, when you gave me that necklace, I actually thought that you had changed because it was your first time giving me a gift out of the blue without wanting me keep any news from mum but it wasn't actually a gift for me. I sometimes wish it'd have been better if I was an orphan.

You are shameless to try hurt Rin and Ma Roo after everything they have done for me. They took care of me like you two could have never done. Even after Ma Roo got to know whose daughter I was, he never treated me badly though he knew everything you did to him. Rather than you dying it's better for me." She then walked away. Her father was now shedding tears. He never imagined that his 7-year-old was actually suffering like this. She was way more sensible than him. Saet Byul got out and ran out and went to the elevator crying.

"Saet Byul, don't go. Where are you going?" He came running after her but by the time he reached the elevator had sealed itself. He decided to use the stairs to go and catch up with her. When he reached, the elevator had also just reached. Wen Saet Byul saw her dad, she ran fast to go out. "Saet Byul, stop!" He told her when he saw that she was going to run into the road when there was a black Hyundai. By the time Saet Byul saw the car, it was too late for her to go back. The car tires screeched as Saet Byul's father also shouted at them same time.
