CHAPTER 36- CHOICE BETWEEN LOVE AND LIFE
-A week later-
That day Ma Roo came back from school with a white stuffed bear holding a red heart in its chest. He was smiling as he looked at it. When he entered he found Saet Byul seated in the couch without the TV on. She seemed to be in too much thoughts that she didn't notice Ma Roo tiptoe come to where she was seated. "BOO!" He scared her that she almost jumped out of her seat. "Ma Roo, are you out of mind?" She touched her heart which she felt like it was going to pump out from her chest.
"Where is Rin?" Ma Roo asked with a jovial smile hiding the bear behind his back. "I thought she was with you." Saet Byul said. "But I left her here with Mi Na the other girl whose name I don't remember." Ma Roo said. "Oh, that Mi Na girl, I hate her so much." Saet Byul said. Ma Roo didn't have a clue of where Rin could go when it was getting dark. "Where is Mi Na?" Ma Roo asked. "Oh, she went back to her apartment since it was renovated today." Saet Byul said. "Let me go look for her in the library."
Ma Roo went to Mi Na's house and knocked on it as if he was being chased after finding out that Rin wasn't anywhere he could think of. When Mi Na opened the door, "Where is Rin?" Ma Roo asked impatiently. "How could I know? Is she gone?" She pretended to know. "What did you tell her? You are the last person she saw today." Ma Roo asked. "Hey, what would I probably tell her to make her go? If she's gone, it's none of my business." Mi Na started cleaning her nails. "That day, does it have anything to do with Rin. The fire that day, your living room wasn't burnt yet your room was burnt down. How could fire skip the living room from the kitchen and just head to your room and the other." He said.
"Wow" She clapped her hands. "It seems I don/t have to keep this act up. I know your girlfriend's identity and I simply told her to leave if she really loves you. I have enough evidence showing her turn into whatever she is." Mi Na said. "Where did she go?" Ma Roo asked. Mi Na said nothing but took out her phone and played a video showing the phone to Ma Roo. "I bet you don't want me to post these videos on the internet. People might not believe me but her pride will all fade once these videos her out. No, she'll gain fame. She has quite a great body when naked." Mi Na laughed. Ma Roo snatched the phone from her hand and threw it on the ground. And stomped it. "So hilarious, do you think I am so stupid to have only one copy." She chuckled. "What exactly do you want?" Ma Roo asked. "So simple, I want you." She said.
Ma Roo went back to his apartment with his head down. "Did you find her?" Saet Byul asked. "No, she won't be back. She's gone and I think it's for the best. I think you should also stop coming here. "What do you mean? Why did she leave without telling us? Why is everyone so selfish?" Saet Byul cried. She had no friends, so if Ma Roo and Rin all abandoned her. She didn't know what to do. "Saet Byul, leave!" Ma Roo said with his head down. Saet Byul left while crying. Ma Roo sat down where he had put the bear, he flipped the heart the bear was holding and behind were English words, 'I love you'. He thought since Rin was going tomorrow for a few good months, it was better to confess today.
"Why did she leave? I haven't succeeded with what I wanted yet." Ma Suk flipped the table where the monitor was in anger. He regretted not doing anything when he got the chance.
In the school cafeteria, Ma Roo headed at the table where Mi Na was seated with her friends. "Mi Na, look who is coming here!" Do Ra said. Mi Na didn't seem surprised at all. Ma Roo came before their table and knelt down on one knee and took out red tulips from behind. "Song Mi Na, will you be girlfriend?" He said with his face down. All students were astonished since Mi Na was quite famous at school. Mi Na touched her lips acting all surprised and shy. "Yes." She said shyly.
"You hear, after you left. He wasn't eve sad at all. He just went and loved another girl." Hong Ga Ya said. A black car was outside the school. Rin and Hong Ga Ya were in it. "Let's go!" Rin said with a straight face. The car raced away and left.
"Wow, you did great back there. I have cleared all your debts. Now you'll do me a few more things." Mi Na said a=in the car with Ma Roo seated in front passenger seat. "I never asked you to clear it." He said. "Doesn't matter, I now have you." She said. "You have my body not my heart." Ma Roo said with a straight face. "It's all the same. I'll also get it soon. Anyway, you've got to become a trainee at my dad's agency. If you dare refuse, you know what will happen." She said. Ma Roo didn't say anything but just looked out the window.
Weeks passed, Saet Byul and Ma Roo turned back like how they were. Except for Ma Roo, he didn't even know if Rin was alright where she was. He felt lonelier than he was before she came in his life. Though he always smiled at school, the smile was fake. At home, he seemed al lifeless. He didn't have the cheerful smile he had with Rin around but now it was a fake smile. It was more burdensome than not smiling. It was also the same on Rin's side. Even when Hong Ga Ya was explaining to her. She just listened unresponsively thinking how Ma Roo was doing.
-In the sea-
The king was getting out of his room or office when he saw Ma Roo's necklace which was stuck in the pile of rocks. He removed it and examined it carefully but when he saw the patterns on the ring in the string, he is expression fell drastically. "Could it be him? Was he still alive all this long?"
-11 months later-
A lady with straight white long hair cascading down to her knees was in showering in the bathroom. She turned the shower off and grabbed a towel. When she got out, she walked to the mirror. The reflection in the mirror was that of Rin. She had hair straightened. She could even bathe now without turning into mermaid. Her face didn't have any trace of smile or warmth.
She chose a black dress with loose long sleeves. The dress was slightly past her thighs. She walked out of her glamorous white and black themed room and walked down the stair. "You said you have somewhere you want to take me. I am finished everything I was doing." Rin said indifferently after she reached where Mrs. Hong was.
"Come, let's go." She took her and made her enter the black BMW. Rin just sat silently in her seat. "Rin, are you still not over that boy?" Ga Ya asked Rin. Her expression changed slightly after hearing Mrs. Hong mention Ma Roo. She didn't reply to her question. She just stayed silent. "I'll take that as a yes." Hong Ga Ya assumed from Rin's silence.
At a certain party, Ma Roo was seated in the corner alone sipping slowly on the glass of Champaign. As others danced, he just sat alone in his re suit with a black shirt inside. A few moments later, Mi Na came where he was seated and sat where he was. She started touching him intently but he didn't react in anyway. "Wow, so cold even over the years. You've become boring now." She said disappointedly. "Attention! Every one." The MC stopped the music and sought for everyone's attention. "The host will be here any moment from now on."
"Why are we at a party? I don't like these kind of things. I'll wait in the car." Rin said. "I dint think you'll want to miss this party. It's my last gift for you." Mrs. Hong said. Rin couldn't turn her down and went with her inside. "Everyone, welcome Mrs. Hong." The MC said. "Hi, every one. Thanks for attending today's party. I organised it in dedication for two people's last meeting. You can enjoy the party till morning." She then handed the microphone back to the MC. "DJ, music." The man on his ate 20's said enthusiastically. "Rin, be careful. Not to use your powers or else you know what's next." Hong Ga Ya warned her. ��I'll be off then. Don't leave till the party's ended."
Mrs. Hong Ga Ya went in the restroom where she found Mi Na applying lipstick on her lips. "You are a beautiful young lady." Hong Ga Ya locked the door from inside after making sure they were there by themselves. "Thank you. Oh, aren't you the host?" Mi Na said blushingly. "It's a pity your heart is the opposite." She said. "What do you mean?" Mi Na was troubled by her last sentence. "You have Kim Hye Rin and Kang Ma Roo! You don't know them. You also hate all men in the world." Hong Ga Ya spoke some kind of changings looking right directly in Mi Na's eyes. Mi Na's mind suddenly went blank. "Who do you hate most in the world?" Hong a Ya asked Mi Na to make sure her spell worked. "Men. I hate men with my life." She said. "That's good." Hong Ga Ya said and left.
After Hong Ga Ya got out of the restroom, she saw where Ma Roo was seated in the corner of the room. She headed towards where he was but Ma Roo dropped the glass of wine he was holding as if he had seen a ghost just now. He saw Rin standing in the crowd, she sure had an attracting aura. Rin felt like someone was staring at her, so she turned around to look for the person. But she was also surprised. She didn't expect to see him here. "You! What are you doing here?" She asked the man in front of her.
