CHAPTER 39- BETRAYAL AT THE LEAST EXPECTED TIME II
Ma Roo went to the door and rang the bell a few times but no one came to open. Ma Suk inside didn't know why Rin was transforming. He carried her out of the bathtub, her pyjamas were all soaked with her hair too. The wounds on her hand hadn't disappeared yet. Ma Suk looked at the girl he was carrying in his arms. "I can't believe that you actually not to human. Got to get my fun but it'd be more fun if you are awake so wake up." He murmured. He put her on the bed and wetted all the sheets with her clothes and hair. He started unbuttoning her shirt.
Ma Roo went and jumped to the open window which was on the next story only a few meters from the ground. He tried a few times till he grabbed on to the edge and pulled himself in. Lucky him, it was exactly Ma Suk's room. "Son of a bitch!" He ran to Ma Suk and punched him. He had unbuttoned Rin's shirt and her grey bra and slim tummy were showing. Ma Roo was just in time. If he had entered a few minutes later, he doesn't know what would have happened to Rin.
"Right in time, brother." Ma Suk spat blood from the ground where he had been tossed by Ma Roo's punch. "What do you want from me? I left you everything." Ma Roo said. "You still don't why I hate you, jerk! Ha, in other people's eyes you are still perfect though you actually ran away from home. I am just an illegal son; you are struck by luck wherever you go. I have gone through so much to pay people hate you." He said and stood up. Ma Roo went to carry Rin to leave his psychotic brother's house but he noticed that she had wounds on her hands. He was now infuriated. He went and jumped onto Ma Suk and punched him as hard as he could.
Ma Suk pushed him down on the floor and it was time for Ma Roo too to get a taste of his own soup. Ma Suk punched Ma Roo too when he got the chance. He pressed him down. Actually, in physical observation, Ma Suk had a great body physique than Ma Roo's. He was even taller than him since he was 4-5 years older than Ma Roo. Rin also started opening her eyes. She felt dizzy and she felt like the head was spinning. She sat down seeing the fight on the ground where Ma Suk was on top of Ma Roo hitting him so hard that his face had several bruises almost unrecognisable. Rin felt like she had to do something.
Ma Roo saw that Rin had woken up, he wanted to tell her to go as Ma Suk beat him up but he saw her hand glow purple. He knew she was going to use her powers yet he remembered that Hong Ga Ya told in that Rin couldn't use her powers. "Rin, don't do it!" He used all the energy he could to push Ma Suk from himself. He went and hugged Rin and held her purple hand. Ma Suk felt like this was hilarious. Who had time to flaunt love in such a moment. "OMG! You two are interesting. I feel like something is fishy. Spill it." Ma Suk said pressing his bleeding nose.
Ma Roo carried Rin in his hands and stood up to leave. He had no interest in fighting Ma Suk. "Do you think you are going to leave?" Ma Suk laughed. "I think I'll." Ma Roo said and immediately Ma Suk heard police sirens. Ma Roo left and took Rin out. "Ma Roo, whatever you did. I promise that I'll pay you. Just wait. I'll kill your mermaid princess and make her vanish in your eyes." Ma Suk said with spitefulness. There were three or four police cars in the compound. Ma Roo had sent the video of his and Ma Suk chatting to the police and sent them the address too before coming.
In the hospital, Saet Byul's father, Jung Il Shik was in the alley way walking back and forth. At the end of the alley, there was a door to the OR and it seemed like a surgery was taking place. As he walked back and forth, he received a phone call. The caller ID was 'nephew'. When he saw that, he just rejected the call. Instead, he made a phone call. When the person he called answered. He said in a low voice. "Jin Hee, come to Haemin so Hospital now." He had called his wife. "What? Are you sick? Why'd I come? I am busy right now. Get someone else to go. I'll hang up now." She said.
"IT'S OUR DAUGHTER!" He shouted in rage. "She's in the operation room getting a surgery. She got into an accident. I took her from home but it seems like you didn't even notice that is she's not there. Did you even know that she had appendicitis? Yeah, I can't blame you alone. I am at fault too!" He said with tears rolling down his eyes behind his silver rimmed spectacles. The lady on the other end of the phone didn't say a thing but was suffocating from pain.
In a few minutes, Saet Byul's mom came fast. Her eyes were all soggy from crying. She found Jung Il Shik in the alley squatted down leaning on the wall, with his palms joined together on his face. He didn't even notice that Saet Byul's mom had come. She squatted down beside him and patted his back comfortingly. He looked up and saw her, he looked at her and dunk his face in his palms again. He then took off his specs and held them. Looking at the door to the operation room, he said, "I never thought about how Saet Byul would be hurt by what we did."
"We were always quarrelling forgetting about her presence. We just never thought about her when we made decisions sometimes that's why she's in there. I don't even know if I'll be able to face her when she wakes up." Saet Byul's mom said. "Me too! It's actually funny that we gave birth to a clever girl but we never appreciated her presence. She managed to bear life so well at her young age. She never asked much from us." He said. "if Saet Byul wakes up today, I am actually going to quit working as a reporter and be there as her mum." Saet Byul's mom said. "Me too." Il Shik wiped the tears from his eyes.
After 2 hours, the doctor came out. When the two saw him. They quickly stood up. "Are you the patient's guardians?" The doctor asked. "We are!" Saet Byul's dad said. "Actually, I have good news and bad news. It's up to you what you want me to tell you first." The doctor in his 50's said. "Doctor, tell us the good news first." Saet Byul's mom picked randomly from the anxiety. "The surgery for now went well. That's the good news." He said. "For now?" The two were puzzled by what he had said. "Now, that leads me to the bad news. Your daughter in actual sense. She's in a critical condition. Her intestines were damaged. She needs a surgery but our hospital is the best in town yet we can't manage her condition but I do have someone who can help you." The doctor said.
By now, Saet Byul's mom dunk her head into Il Shik's chest and sobbed.
