Taking her first few steps in the hallway, her eyes fell on groups of kids and their parents. A swift wave of jealousy struck her. Although she quickly recovered and felt disappointed for feeling this way. At a young age Nora had to understand her parents were busy, and that her father was a known powerful man. For them to be in public places would cause a lot of unwanted attention. Being the only daughter of the man that ran the business industry, was not exactly wonderful. Her mother was anonymous and unknown to the public, but that was just one set back of marrying Nickolas McCann.
After marrying, Nickolas told Amanda the cost. For her own safety she must be kept out of the public's eye. He wanted her to be safe, and worry free. Although after Nora was spotted with her father, reporters and writers soon came to the conclusion that was his daughter. Once she was discovered, she was allowed to go in public with her father. But it was very frequently. Weeks on end, Nora was the top story on new stations and newspapers. Her face plastered on the screens and stories, she was known.
'The King of the Business Industry Has a Daughter!' the story wrote.
In fact she was not only known for being the daughter of a powerful man, her looks captured many people's hearts. Even at a young age she was beautiful. Many knew she would be even more stunning when she got older. Her long, dark brown hair, and beautiful eyes were a sight to see. Her soft pale skin, giving the look of an innocent child. Even her small perfect nose was envied by all. For she was beautiful.
But because of all of this attention, a normal childhood was not a choice. A isolated life was forced upon her.
She silently yearned for a normal life. Without cameras or stories about her, or having to hide. But she still was still happy. For she was loved. But beyond that perfect picture image they all held up, Nora was the only one blind to see the truth behind it all.
…
Blinking from her trance, it wasn't until at this moment Nora didn't know where to go. Feeling the anxiety in her bones, she slowly approached a young couple. Before talking to them she calmed her muscles and kept a blank face.
"Excuse me Mr. and Mrs….."
"Park," the pretty lady says while giving a warm smile.
"Mr. and Mrs. Park, do you know where the classroom 6A is?" she asks calmly.
"Yes we do, In fact, my son is in your class," she says gesturing to a young boy talking to his friend on the other side of the hallway. She was unable to see his front profile, just his backside. Although from her view, she could tell he was a sight to see. Maybe even hit puberty earlier than most twelve year-olds. He was taller than most guys her age, but she didn't pay it much thought.
With a slight hum in response the young couple led her to her new homeroom. "This is your classroom, I hope you enjoy your day Miss McCann," Mr. Park says. Both give a slight bow, Nora's eyes widen. Although she quickly swifts away her features and remains calm in her movements.
"You do not need to bow, for I am much younger than you two," she says while keeping eye contact with Mr. Park. Her eyes were blank and no one would know what she was thinking or how she was feeling.
"Also," she continues, "call me Nora." With a soft smile grazing her lips, it was so fast they might have missed it.
Returning the soft smile Mrs. Park says, "Gladly. It was a pleasure to talk to you, for you are beautiful."
Exchanging their farewells, Nora steps inside her classroom to find a desk. Among the empty ones, she chose one in the back near the window, for the view of the blossom trees was breathtaking.
Bringing her eyes away from the blossoms, she looks around the room looking at the other girls and boys. Some were already talking and making friends.
'You will do great. Just remember to be yourself.' Her father's words played in her head. Taking a deep breath she stands from her seat and makes her way towards a girl sitting in the front of the room alone. When approaching the girl, she kept her emotions at bay and steadied her walk.
"Excuse me," she says, grabbing the girl's attention to her, "do you mind if I join you?" she asks while gesturing to the seat beside her.
Quickly realizing what she was asked, she gives a sweet smile and begins saying, "Of course! Be my guest."
Once she seated herself she turned towards the girl beside her. Realizing the expression on the girl's face she asks, "Is there something on my face?"
"Oh! No, but I think I've seen you before." Although her outside was calm, Nora was desperately hoping she didn't recognize who she was on the inside. "That's funny, maybe we have met before. I'm Nora," she says changing the subject.
"I'm Jennie Chaite, It's nice to meet you!" She holds her hand out for a formal shake. Slowly raising her hand, Nora accepts the handshake. Although confused on why Nora only said her first name, Jennie ignored it and enjoyed her company.
After chatting and getting to know each other, their homeroom teacher asked that they return to their seats. Exchanging a quick goodbye, Nora heads over to her seat in the back. The classroom was calm and quiet until the door was loudly opened. In came to view a young boy talking with his friend, not caring if he was disrupting the class.
"Mr. Park and Mr. Sullivan, is there a reason why both of you are late?" she says while raising an eyebrow.
The young boy looks at his friend with an annoyed expression. "No not really," he says while keeping his blank face.
Quickly taken aback by his answer she stares at the young man.
Not sparing a glance at the lady, he makes his way to his seat in the back beside Nora. His friend follows his lead and goes to his seat in the front. Instantly by his arrival, the girls eye him and gawk at his visuals. While the boys envy the attention he receives. Even at his young age, he was already popular. Anyone would see how he would become a strikingly handsome man when he grew up, for he was already good looking.
Nora on the other hand was staring into space while looking at the blossomed trees, paying no mind to the ruckus. Staring blankly with her emotions hidden, thoughts run through her head. Having the calming view in front of her, she relaxed. It wasn't until the teacher started talking about everyone introducing themselves, she returned her attention to the front. Starting from the front, making their way to the back everyone introduced themselves and gave a fact they wanted to share to the class. When it was Nora's turn she followed everyone's lead and stood up, earning the class' attention. Keeping a blank expression she stood elegantly and gracefully.
"Hi. My name is Nora, and I like singing," she says before starting to sit back in her seat. Everyone's mouth opens in shock seeing the very beautiful girl in front of them. Maybe even the prettiest girl in the whole middle and high school. For Nora did look a little older than her age.
"Tell us your full name please," the teacher says, stopping her from sitting in her seat.
"Must I do so?" she asks. The teacher gives a nod before waiting to hear her name.
Her elegance was only a cover for her panicking, for she did not want to tell the class who she was. Letting a shaky breath escape her lips, she opens her mouth and answers in a firm tone.
"My name is Nora McCann, and I hope we can all get along." Sitting down with her gracefulness, everyone's eyes widen.
"M-mcCann!" the woman responds in shock. Quickly recovering she lowers her voice and gives a bow. "It is a great pleasure to have you hear Miss McCann."
"Oh no, please call me Nora," she says while sounding a little uneasy with the formality.
"O-ok… Nora."
After most students regain their senses, the prince charming of the school stands with his hands in his pockets giving off bad vibes. Seeing how their crush is getting ready to talk, the girls squeal and excitedly await for his voice. Nora on the other hand stared at him in annoyance. She could tell he was enjoying this attention far more than needed. Although she would admit he was a good looking guy. Maybe even perfect, but she wasn't interested in guys so she just turned her head to the side staring out the window.
"Hey, I'm Tae Park, nice to meet you all," he says smugly, giving a charming smile to the girls fully aware that his actions will excite the girls. They all giggle while staring at him and can't get enough of his looks.
Although he did look perfect, he had one of the worst attitudes.
'Too snobby and full of himself,' Nora thought. For she could already tell what he was like. Still spending no mind to him, she continued staring at the blossoms until Tae's gaze fell on her fragile figure.
'Why is she not looking at me?' he thought. Completely hiding his slight anger he returned his gaze to the girls who did give him attention.
