'Park? This guy is a part of the Park family? Now this is indeed a surprise.' A smile makes its way to her lips.
"Well I certainly didn't expect you to be a Park."
Taken aback, Tae raises an eyebrow. Surprised? No maybe, confused. He didn't see why it was such an exquisite thing to believe. Was it hard to believe? Impossible, he was known among many individuals. He is known to be one of the most popular, young men of influential families. How could she have not expected it?!
"Well I don't see how it is hard to believe, but if you want to play hard to get to be my guest," he says while returning the dark smile. Running a hand through his hair he ignores her widened, shocked eyes and turns his attention to his friends.
'Hard to get? Does he think I am playing hard to get? He must really be full of himself.' Letting a small scoff leave her lips she meets eyes with Jennie. Exchanging looks between each other, they decide to leave the table. The atmosphere was too stiff, it made both of them uncomfortable. Standing up, not only did they gain the attention of the boys, but also the remaining other tables in the cafeteria.
Nora could sense the shock radiating off the other girls.
'Why would they leave the boys?!'
'Are they crazy?!'
'Must they be so cocky?'
'I would kill to sit there.'
Nora could practically hear their thoughts. She knew they only wanted them for their money and their looks. They didn't care if the boys were snarky or rude.
It was money. Popularity… They only wanted the treasure, not the adventure. But what she could do about it, it didn't concern her. They could be popularity seeking, and she could watch from the sidelines. As long as she wasn't involved, it didn't matter. And she preferred to keep it that way.
As Nora and Jennie stood, they could feel the boys' attention shift to both of them. Their gazes were burning through them, like venomous snakes. It was practically glaciers of ice piercing through them, although it was calm, but dangerous.
Quickly walking away together, Jennie released a breath she didn't know she was holding.
'That dominance is no joke, especially since those five boys were staring at us,' Jennie sighs.
For Nora on the other hand, she expected most of that to happen. She could tell they were popular, and most likely no one has probably left the heart throbs. It was known in every book she's read. The popular character was praised and envied. No one would dare turn them down, or at least leave them. Maintaining her cool, she asks, "Do you want to finish our lunch in the hallway before class?"
Being awakened from her daze, Jennie blinks her doe eyes. "Oh! Yes, yes… that would be perfectly fine," she quickly answers.
Arriving near Nora's locker, they both lean against the lockers and sit in the hall, talking and laughing over their lunch.
It was moments like these that Nora loved. It was a normal conversation, that was genuine. Who was she kidding, she was acting normal, and she felt normal. No fights, no praise, no over the top attention. Just a normal conversation between two normal girls, in a normal hallway.
As a kid, Nora was in some way isolated to the world. It wasn't until the paparazzi spotted her, that she gained to be isolation free. Well in some ways free. She was pushed to be the best she could be. She studied a lot, hoping that one day in her near future she would take over her father's company. Being an only child, made her the center of attention. She was sheltered from the world, but she was very smart.
"Oh! And then-"
Abruptly cutting off her sentence, the bell rings. Shocking the both of them, their wide eyes meet, before giggling, and fixing themselves. Suppressing their giggles Jennie asks, "What class do you have next?"
"I have science. I'll see you during the break. Meet me at your locker, I'll wait for you."
"Ok! See you!" Jennie waves before making her way to class. Putting her lunch away in her locker, Nora dusts herself off and heads to science. While on her way over, she can feel the stares, and hear the muffled whispers. Although they weren't of praise, they were of jealousy. Half expecting this behavior, Nora brushes off their whispers and continues her walk.
….
Back in the very empty science classroom, five boys were in their own thoughts. Especially Tae Park. For this is the first time someone has walked away from him, or leaned away instead of moving closer. He can't really say he predicted this, but he knew for certain Nora wasn't an easy girl. This only confused him more. In fact, all five of them still couldn't wrap their heads around the previous incident. It was like having a mythical pet; it isn't a very common thing. Just like those two girls' behavior. They basically ran this school. Although that would be an understatement, they funded this school. Their families would be the front name for this high class school. Who would possibly turn them down?!
'Now I love challenges but this is draining.' Tae holds the skin between his brows, closing his eyes in slight annoyance.
All lost in thought, a sudden noise breaks their concentration leading their attention to the cause. All turning their heads to see an unforgettable face.
'I'll be damned, seems like curiosity killed the cat,' smirks Tae. Calmly forgetting his irritation, he stands and strides over to their culprit. Pushing a hand in his pocket, he licks his lips, staring into the same irritating eyes he finds interesting.
Plastering a smirk on his perfect lips, he tilts his head to the side.
"Well, what do I owe the pleasure of seeing you again doll?" Almost playfully the words slide off his tongue as swiftly as a night breeze. Calm, but refreshing. "Did you possibly miss me too much, your heart hurt from being too far away?" he grins knowing damn well he's pushing her buttons. Even if he can't see it, he can sense her aura.
But little did he know two can play at that game. So the culprit's lips fell into a straight line as she walked past him sitting in an empty seat in the back. Completely ignoring his existence, she gazes out the window, only waiting for his next reaction.
Shocked, he stares at this annoying creature who ignored him and mentally curses her.
Giving a throaty chuckle, he pokes the inside of his mouth with his tongue before clenching his jaw.
"Do you really wanna make me mad? Because I guarantee you doll I don't play nice," he threatens.
Bringing her attention back to the persistent boy, she meets his furious eyes. Holding his gaze, and keeping her cold act up she responds.
"And I guarantee you Tae that I don't play games with someone to the likes of you…."
