Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: The Monarch

We leave the next morning, heading to Helm Town with Lyon. The rest of them stay and wave goodbye.

We stop in the forest at sunset.

"We're camping out here," Ryan commands, "Everyone, do the usual."

"W-w-what? We're camping out here?" Lyon stammers.

"Yeah, what else will we do?"

"W-what about the beasts of Beguile Forest?"

"Don't worry! They're very strong!" Trisha comforts him.

"O-ok…"

He helps Trisha carry some items. I spy Ryan looking over worriedly, even though he acted as if he wasn't bothered. Aww, what a cute couple!

That night, I volunteered to stay guard for a quarter of the night. I sat on one of the trees and stared at the stars. By far, this is the most fun and happiness I've had in five years in this country. It wasn't as luxurious, but it was great. Two red shooting stars crossed in the night sky, making a big 'X' mark. It was as if it were to warn me of dangers ahead.

We head to Helm Town and arrive by the next afternoon. King and I put on hoods lowering our heads.

"This way!" Lyon gestures us as he brings us through the town.

"My, Lyon, you're back? Who are these people?"

The townspeople greet him warmly and welcome us. However, there was a shadow on their face, as we feared.

We arrive and meet the town elder.

"Lyon, you're back!" the town elder greets him, "Welcome back and we welcome your friends too."

"Thank you elder. What happened here? Why is everyone gloomy?"

"Ah well, it's none of your concern… how is your time as a Royal Guard?"

"It's fine. Please tell me what happened. We are here to help."

"Ah, well you see, his majesty, the King is visiting this town right now in seek of a concubine."

The King?! Dylan? I look up by accident.

"Argh!" the elder starts to yell.

"Elder, it's fine, she's here to help. We're all here to help!"

"O-o…" he calms down a bit but still puts up his guard.

"A-anyways, many families are also being stripped of their money just for walking on the street…"

That is so petty… does Dylan even know how to rule a kingdom?!

"We'd like to see him," I ask the elder.

"A-er- well… he's staying in the cathedral right now…"

Lyon speaks, "Don't worry, elder, we'll get everyone back and save the town."

"O-ok…" he smiles sadly, "Good luck."

We storm across to the cathedral.

Dylan… just what are you doing?!

I walk right up and slam the door of the cathedral open.

"Huh, who dares to bother the-"

Dylan starts, but his face turns to shock as he sees his old friends. He quickly covers up and smirks.

"You've disturbed the King of this nation. Send these people to hell."

"Yes, your majesty," the guards follow.

Tsk! The Royal Guards around the King are the most powerful. This will definitely be troubling. We quickly rush to finish the fighting. Lyon, Veronica, and Trisha take care of the back as King, Justin, and Ryan rush at the commanders. What's even more troubling is that the head aristocrat's troops are also here, which means double the trouble.
