Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: That Foolish King!

A voice raises suddenly, "How could you blame them!"

It is Lyon, "They were the ones that had provided us food shelter and justice from this inhumane King! They were the ones who protected us here! Without them, we would have all drowned!"

"Yeah," Lyon's friend also stands up, "If you want to blame someone, blame the mastermind! That foolish King!"

The shouts of hatred against Dylan grow louder as I watch, pale.

"Stand up," a little girl gives me her hand, "You're not at fault."

She smiles brightly, like a sun in the night sky, as I reach out and stand.

I take command again, "We need to secure ourselves tonight! The medical unit will take charge of the injured and others who can help, please build us a shelter for the night! We'll survive!"

"Yeah!" The cheers grow.

Light was no problem, since we had Justin. At one point, he walked around like a human lighthouse, lighting up torches… uhh… well it did bring up the morale of the rebels?

We laugh until the sunrise and sit around a warm campfire. Even though we were scraped of our resources and aren't living as we want, it was fun and lively.

I cuddle in a blanket with King as we supervise and protect our troops.

"You can sleep first, goodnight," King says to me right before I drift off into dreamland. The warmth of the rebels allows me to sleep peacefully, without nightmares.

The next morning, we are ready. We have a quiet morning. Even the children have a determined glow in their eyes.

"Today, we are going to end this war!" Justin announces firmly.

"Yeah!" the rebels cheer, raising their sharp weapons.

We launch our military into four groups. Each attacks from the North, South, East, or West with either King, Justin, Ryan, or I in the lead. The off- guard knights protecting the capital cower in fear as our army of thousands march. I easily get rid of the first couple and we head to the palace.

A shower of bottles rain down on us, no, fire bombs?! The glass shatters on the ground and the oil seeps out. A flamed torch soars at us. No!

"Everyone! Get out of here!"I scream over the chaos. Unlike the Beguile Forest, there aren't many trees in the capital. I target my magic at the nearest tree and elevate myself to the torch. I jump towards the torch as the burning smell fills the air.

The cowering citizens below stare up at me.

"Leave! Now!" I yell at them.

Finally, I get hold of the torch and put it out. But it was too late for the other areas. The capital is on fire! To think that a King would put his own city on fire! I spot some of the rebels.

"Take care of the citizens and the fire! I'm going for the King!"

The ones that calmed down give me a thumbs up. My eyes glower with hate as I head towards the castle. I meet hundreds of soldiers as I charge through the main entrance. Avoiding innocent citizens as much as possible, I shatter the windows to the throne room and charge in.

"Imperial knights, you know what to do," Dylan commands on his throne.

He smirks down at me with the crown on his head. I cut my way through everyone until there are only five left.

I smile fakely, "Commander, to think there's a day where you would stand against me."

His face is surprised, but he recovers quickly, "I don't know who you are."

"Oh, so you want to play it like that, huh."
