"AAHH!" a scream pierces the cold night at 2 am. A rumble fills the air as the grounds uncontrollably shakes.
"What's going on?" I rush outside my tent to meet a huge wall of water crashing down before us. A tsunami? Out of nowhere? I release my magic into the air to find that it was planned. That damned Dylan! What does he even think lives are!
The aggressive cold water fills into the camp, washing up all the tents and people with it too. I stare in horror as the rebels scream, dying. I come back to reality after a few minutes and start to find ways to save as many as I can. I 'heal' the trees to help me rescue people. Yes, my magic is called hearth magic. I can heal anything with a heart and control some if they're not too complicated, for example, trees. Humans are the most complicated so it takes a lot out of me for that.
Anyways, the others and I tried to gather and save as many people as we could. The water finally calms down after half an hour.
"How many people did we lose?" I ask King worriedly.
"Almost a quarter," he responds with grief in his eyes.
My face turns dark with sorrow as I glance at Trisha, Veronica and the medical unit working on treating the injured.
"I should go help," I sigh, heading over.
"No! You've used enough magic today," King lurches forward and grabs me before I could leave.
Ryan comes over, "Yeah, you're the one who made this platform we're on too, so don't."
King tightens his grip around my waist as Ryan calls Justin to join him at the medical unit.
"It was Dylan who did this, right?" I glower in hatred.
"Yeah," King responds, "He used his water magic and had other water magic users support him."
I frown in displeasure. I can't believe that he would actually execute such an insane plan.
"I'm going to apologize to the rebel army," I say, feeling guilty.
King releases me as I head over.
I clear my throat and project my voice, "To our rebel companions, we have suffered a great loss and I am very sorry for all the lives that were lost. It was my mistake and ignorance that caused so many lives to be lost…"
I gulp in fear. I know that many people are going to turn their hatred to me, especially those who lost family members.
My guilt drops down to my stomach as I hear them,
"Yeah! How dare you! You guys didn't even lose your companions yet many of us lost our family members and the ones we love!"
"You can't even pay for these lives!"
"I'm quitting the rebels!"
"Yeah!"
The riots grow even louder as the original group are indulged in guilt.
