Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 Ambush Lurks Ahead

As Thomas pointed to each of the five men who hid in the trees and bushes the man asked "Are you sure that the men waiting to ambush us are there." Thomas shrugged as he said, "Ya probably." The man looked at Thomas as he said "I bought you to protect my daughter and you aren't even taking it seriously." Thomas looked at the man with a smug face as he said "I didn't exactly ask to be purchased by you either." The man looked at him as he said "Your right but please protect my daughter." Thomas sighed as he said, "I've never been very good at promising people things." The man looked at Thomas as he said "Please protect my dear Lily." Thomas looked at the sky as he said "So Lily's her name." The man asked, "Will you please protect her please?"

Thomas leaned just arm against the side of the cart as he said "Your a strange man begging a slave your daughter can control." The man looked at Thomas in shock as he said "Your right I can make you protect her." Thomas said, "You can't make me but she can." Thomas stood up as he put a hand on the front of the cart and said, "Anyway listening to you is boring and while talking to you I've thought about my plan and I'm ready for action." The man looked at him as he said "Thank you." Thomas looked at him as he said "For what? Besides, I can't do this without a weapon, wouldn't happen to have one would you?" The man said, "Yes I have one in the back of the carriage." Thomas said great as he started stretching he said "Can you get it for me please?" The man got up without a second thought as he went to the back of the carriage and came back with a weapon.

Thomas continued to stretch as he asked "This weapon isn't gonna break in one strike is it?" The man said, "It shouldn't it's a sword made from iron." Thomas looked at where the five men were hiding as he said "An iron sword should work fine." The man handed the sword to Thomas as he said "Thanks again for protecting my daughter." Thomas glanced at him as he unsheathed the sword and said "Sure no problem after all I suppose I'm doing this for fun anyway." The man looked at him as he asked "What's so fun about risking your life." Thomas swung the sword a few times as he said "I don't know myself." Thomas hopped off of the carriage as he said with a grin "Wish me luck." The little girl jumped out of the carriage as she peeled out from behind it. Thomas looked at her as he put his finger up to his lip and mouthed the words gotta keep quiet.

Thomas bent down to the ground and picked up a rock as he said "You might wanna cover your daughter's eyes." The man turned around as he said "Get back into the cart." Thomas looked at him as he said "Probably not the best time but that's not a carriage?" The man said, "No it's not." Thomas turned around and threw the rock he picked up at the tree as he said "You could've corrected me anytime you know." The two men in the trees screamed as they began to fall. Thomas said, "Told you there were two in the trees." Just before the men hit the ground Thomas started to rush at them as he saw the three other men jump out of the bushes. Thomas continued to run toward them but as got closer the closest two men swung their swords as he blocked the man to his left and dodged under the man's sword to his right.

Thomas continued to run without a second of hesitation as he jumped over the third man who was hiding in the bushes. Once Thomas landed he shoved the sword into his back and said "A whole new meaning to backstabbing you may ask?" Not wasting any more time he ran towards the two men now laying on the ground as he lifted his sword and shoved it through the man's chest. He left the sword in his chest as he bent down to grab the sword of the man he stabbed. He said, "Thank you for the weapon." He quickly stood up as he saw the two men he avoided first now charging at him as he turned to his left and seen the man getting up he threw the other sword through the back of his head. The two men with weapons in hand ran at him as they yelled "Get him he doesn't have a weapon now." Thomas laughed as he said, "Man you guys are funny."

Thomas began to run toward the men as he said "That never mattered, I'll still win!" The men both swung their swords as Thomas slid on his knees while leaning backward as he kicked one of the men's legs out from under him. The other man quickly turned and started to swing his sword straight down at Thomas. As he looked around for a way to avoid the sword he glanced at the cart to see both the man and the girl staring as they fought. The man looked at her as he said "Lily get back to the cart quickly." Thomas saw a dagger hidden inside the man's pocket at the last second he managed to grab it and threw it at the man's sword. Once the sword was hit the trajectory was thrown off as his blade hit beside Thomas. The man began to lift his sword as Thomas kicked his arm causing him to drop his sword and stagger back.

Thomas quickly grabbed the sword and stabbed the man on the ground as he said "And then there was one." The man looked at him as he said "It was nothing personal we were just trying to make a living." Thomas looked at him as he said "A living out of killing and stealing?" The man looked at him as he said "Wait I know it sounds bad but I need a job and this was the only way." Thomas dropped the sword as said, "I don't care anymore so just go off and do something else to make a living." The man looked at him and then at the other four men as he said "How were you able to take on five of us at once?" Thomas said, "I already told you I don't care anymore do you think I'm gonna care enough to explain to you." The man got down on his knees as he said "Please I beg you to teach me." Thomas looked at him as he said "I won't bother teaching anyone."

The man still on his knees laid down his hands as he said "I understand and please forgive me for attacking you and your cart." Thomas looked at him as he said "So it is a cart and not a carriage." The man sat up as he looked confused and said "I should get going and I swear I won't harm anyone else." Thomas started walking back to the cart as he said "Do what you want but an actual job is probably safer than trying to rob people." Thomas walked up to the man and his daughter as he said "I wrapped things up here." Lily walked up to him as she said "You got all dirty." Thomas looked at her confused as he looked down at himself and seen that he was covered in dirt and blood. He looked at her as he said "Look on the bright side at least this time it's not my blood." Lily looked at him as she said "We gotta get you all cleaned up." Thomas looked at her father as he said "You were right about the five men."

Thomas looked at him and said, "Ya I suppose your right." The man looked at him as he said "You were a good purchase for sure because if it wasn't for you we would've been robbed for sure." The man looked at Thomas as he said "Thank you for protecting her." Thomas looked at the man as he said "I didn't have a choice besides that was exhausting." The man looked at him as he said "Most slaves are raised to battle and are often mistreated if you ask me your one of the lucky ones." Thomas looked at him and yawned as he said "I suppose your right." The man looked at his daughter as he said "Alright everyone onto the cart." Thomas looked at the man and said "You know you still haven't told me your name." The man looked at Thomas as he said "Your right we never formally introduced ourselves." The man pointed to the girl as he said "That's Lily." Thomas said, "Ya you already mentioned that but who are you." The man smiled as he pointed to himself and said "My name is Jason." After he introduced everyone he said, "All right everyone now it's time to head home."
