Chapter 43 - Chapter 43

'Baba, someone is coming!'

'Who?'

'Sounds like papa!' Damn, I just came in with dad as my disguise. Of course, it was going to cause a problem. I should have planned it better.

'Ari, come here and cover me. I can't let dad know I'm here.' I looked down at the man. He was still breathing. It was a miracle how he survived this long.

"I will see you in hell, kid." Those were his last words before I enlarged the ice crystals. I smirked.

"I can't wait." I left the ice crystals in him. I put a hand up as a silent good-bye before putting the hand in my pocket.

'Baba, I'm here.' I walked out of the cell with both my hands in my pockets. I saw Ari running towards me. I heard their voices along with their footsteps. They were definitely in a hurry. Dad's voice was among the other voices that were talking, but he was the loudest. He sounded frustrated and was yelling a bit. I guess he will get even madder once he realizes the spy was dead. I reach out my hand, letting Ari jump on to my arm. At once, she used her magic on me. I was right in front of them, and they didn't even notice me. I stepped aside and started walking towards the entrance.

"Who's there?" I froze as I heard dad's voice. Did he find out? I looked back to see him staring right at me. It couldn't be.

'Ari, you are still using you're magic, right?'

'Yes, baba.' I felt my heart beating louder as every second passes. He was just staring at me as if he could see me.

"What is it, general?"

"I feel like someone is here." I guess there is a reason he is a general. His intuition and senses were good. Dad stared in my direction for sometime before he turned away. "Nevermind."

I let out the breath that I unconsciously held in. Ari looked at me. Her head was tilted and her ears were down. I needed to hurry back and burn these clothes before my parents find them. I turned back to the entrance and started to walk again.

'Baba! Watch out!' I sensed it even before Ari yelled it out. I quickly dodged out of the way. A sword went past my ear and got stuck in the wall. I looked back again. Dad was running straight at me. I started to run too, but there was no way I could outrun him. I stopped and dodged out of his way. Sorry, dad! I froze the ground and let the ice travel all the way up to his torso. I made sure not to make the ice too cold. He was already using his powers to melt the ice.

I took this time to run out of here as fast as I can.

"Get him!"

I got out of the dungeon safely. The other soldiers were clueless about where I was unlike dad. Amateurs!

I headed to my room and got dressed out of my bloodied clothes fast and went to bed, just in case mom and dad came to look for me. I went to sleep as quickly as I could.

I slept in so late. I guess I was still recovering or tired from yesterday. Ari was still sleeping beside me. I got up and freshened myself up. You know, the basics like brushing your teeth or going to the toilet because nature is calling to you.

I could hear voices all the way up to my room. I went to the stairs to see mom welcoming a family into the house. There were a couple and three kids. I curiously went down. I made eye contact with the lady.

"Oh my, is that your second son? You are so lucky that all three of your kids are eye-catchers." I couldn't help myself but smile. I was pretty good-looking.

"If you talk too much, my son will start being egoistical over his looks." The lady laughed at my mom's comment. I gave my mom the 'Why are you embarrassing me like this?' look. Didn't moms usually feel proud when people comment on their kids? Mom turned to me and gave me a shrug with her arms. "What?"

"Alexander, I am one of your neighbors and these are my kids." The lady walked over to me. I gave her a smile and lent out a hand. She put her hand on my hand in delight. I kissed her knuckles, which made her gasp. She brought her other hand up gracefully to cover up her surprise and turned to mom then back to me. "Oh my, what a gentleman?"

I wasn't a gentleman at all. Even though people loved me as their emperor, they knew my dark side. It even attracted many beautiful women, so I was used to charming beautiful women, so it just happened. My wife did not like that one minute. I smiled internally at the thought. I looked back at the lady.

"Milady, I don't mind if you and your family called me Alex." I gave her a smile and a small bow. As I said, it came naturally. The lady grabbed my hand and led me over to her kids. "I am Lady Beatrice." She pointed to her husband. "This is my husband, Lord Evander. This is Fawn" The oldest boy nodded at me, which made me nod back as a kind gesture. He looked about the same age as me. "She is his twin, Flora." The girl was absolutely stunning, like her mother. Fawn and Flora looked nothing alike even though they were twins. I reached my hand out as I did with her mother. She accepted and I gave her a small kiss on the knuckle. I watched as her face turned red as she blushed. I could feel the intense stares from her twin and her father, so I backed away immediately. "This is my youngest. His name is Aaron." Aaron looked at me, then looked beyond me. He looked the same age as Ami.

"Mommy, where is Ami?" When he said Ami, my right eye twitched. I definitely did not like this kid. He did not have my permission to call my precious sister by her nickname. I crossed my arms and stared at the kid.

"Amelia is-"

"She's sleeping." I didn't even care if I cut off Lady Beatrice. I heard mom clear her throat, but I didn't really care. No one was going to get my sister. The kid turned to his mom.

"Then mommy can I go wake her up?" My face darkened as I clenched my fists. No breathing exercise was going to calm this. This damn kid. I looked at Lady Beatrice. I hope she knows how to control her kid.

"Yes." She didn't even ask or look at mom for permission. She smiled as Aaron went upstairs.

"I will help him wake up Ami." Before any of them answered, I went after him. He was going to learn that getting a girl wasn't as easy as he thought.
