Chapter 44 - Chapter 44

I followed the kid quietly until we were out of sight. I don't know what came over me, but I was still not too fond of the thought of him getting closer to Ami. Aaron must have come here quite often since he knew the way to Ami's bedroom. I childishly went ahead and walked in front of him. I opened the door and saw Ami sleeping in her bed. I let out a soft chuckle as I saw Ami's sleeping position. Her back was against her bed. One of her legs were off the bed, dangling off. The only body part that the blanket was covering was her left hand. She also snored quite loud.

Quite a lady, indeed.

Aaron went inside the room with his index finger near his mouth. I guess he was biting his fingernail or something since I was seeing him from the back. He stopped and reached out his hand to wake her up, but I rushed over and picked her up. I wasn't going to let a child who had saliva on all of his finger touch Ami. That was gross. Aaron gave me a confused look. I raised my eyebrow slightly in response.

Since Ami was was only three years younger than me, she was still tall to me. I hadn't even hit puberty yet or I could have carried her easily, but I was taller than Cleo. He was older than me by two years.

Ami might have been a bit small, but she was so heavy. She was a growing child so it was expected. As soon as I adjusted so her head was on my shoulder, I felt her drooling onto my clothes. I shivered in disgust. I turned and took a step, only to stumble, but I caught myself. I honestly did not know what I was doing anymore.

"Big Bwutha?" I felt Ami moving a bit. This was not helping me balance her weight so I don't fall along with her.

I froze as I heard Ami's sleepy voice.

"Are you awake?" I felt her nod, so I slowly put her down. As soon as I did, I felt every part of my body dancing in joy. She ran to the restroom, and I took Aaron's hand and led him out of her room. He refused at first, but once I glared at him, he silently followed like a depressed pup. I left him outside and waited for Ami on her bed.

It didn't take her too long. She was still in her nightgown, though. I called a maid to help her dress up, and I went downstairs with Aaron. I followed their voices to the living room. Lady Beatrice and mom were talking, while so were the men. Arthur was already talking to Fawn. They seemed like good friends, so it felt kind of awkward to go up to them. They have known each other longer than I have. Flora was sitting quietly and smiling at Arthur's and Fawn's conversation. This was one of the moments that I wished Ari was here. I sat in the chair right next to her since that was the only available seat. Arthur and Fawn immediately stopped talking and stared at me. I nodded my head trying to act as calm as possible.

"So, Alex, this is Fawn." Arthur was trying to introduce. That was nice of him.

"I know." I smiled and extended a hand. I could see Aaron looking at me in confusion from my peripheral vision. I focused back at Fawn. Fawn didn't take it, instead, he turned to Arthur. I put my hand down.

"So, Arthur, you must be happy to have your little brother back." Arthur smiled at Fawn as an agreement. "Is he even as good as you?"

Was he trying to start something? I let it off and ignored it.

"I think he is good as me. Probably even better than me."

"Don't be so modest. I bet he is weak and depends on you. You are the strongest person I know around here." The room was silent. Everyone was looking in our direction. I closed my eyes and still ignored him. I wasn't going to stoop to his immature level.

"You know, that is not true." Arthur's smile was slowly turning into a frown. Fawn walked over to me.

"Can you not sit next to my sister?" I sat where I was. He wasn't my parents or anything to give me this attitude. He started to glare at me. I just faced the other way. "I am asking you nicely right now." I still didn't move. He didn't own me.

I turned my head as I heard a small growl coming from the entrance of the room. It was Ari. When did she wake up?

Ari slowly walked towards us. Her pupils were sharp and her ears were lowered. Her tail aggressively whipped the floor. I knew she wouldn't really do anything unless I tell her to, but I didn't want an accident to happen.

'Ari, stand down.'

I heard a gasp from behind me, which made Ari lift her ears up straight. It was Flora. She was looking directly at Ari. Flora stood up and held her skirt up. She rushed to Ari and swooped her up. Ari was confused at first and started panicking in her arms. It took a second for her to grasp the situation. Ari started smelling Flora. Her tail started to swing and her wings flapped lightly.

I got surprised when Ari started to lick Flora all over her face that caused Flora to giggle.

"Mommy, can I keep her?" Ari tensed up for a quick second.

"Of course not, she belongs to the Covingtons. She is their pet." Flora looked to the floor and let out a depressed sigh.

"Ok mommy." She looked at Ari and gave a small tight hug. Flora walked over to me. "Here you go."

"You can always come and visit Ari if you like." Flora's eyes lit up and turned towards her mother.

"C-can I, mommy?"

"Of course, you can." Lady Beatrice gave Flora a small wink. Flora turned to me and jumped with excitement. Flora wrapped her arms around me and gave me a soft kiss on the cheek. The only thing I could do was gasp.
