"First fight: Prince Adrien and Young Master Alex."
I groaned as I walked up to the stage. My muscles were still sore from all that running. I even did ten laps before we actually started running for exercise. Adrien got into his starting pose and I got into mine. The starting pose was where we can concentrate our mana the most. I just stood there since it was my most natural pose. I waited for Adrien to make his first move. Neither side moved until Adrien couldn't take it anymore. When you're fighting, it's about patience and observance about your surroundings.
Adrien cast the most basic fire spell which was a fireball. He was gathering as much mana as possible into his hand, making the fireball bigger and bigger. It was a slow move, but powerful technique, but it had a flaw. You needed time for this spell. I didn't wait for him to finish the spell. I ran towards him, calling on the wind to help me get faster. I made a little tornado into the palm of my right hand. I combined the tornado with water, creating a water tornado. I threw the whirl of wind and water at Adrien as he threw his fire spell at me.
The spells clashed and nullified each other. Adrien looked quite shocked but composed himself. Did he see through my spell? Did he realize I used a water spell combined with a wind spell?
"Hey Alex, did you cheat?" He raised an eyebrow. He was definitely trying to mock me. He was probably using this time to calm down even more.
I returned the response throwing a little typhoon into his face and smirked when he didn't respond fast enough. I sent a few more typhoons but he used that to his advantage. Adrien shot a few small fireballs that almost matched the size of my mini typhoons. The wind made his fire bigger and made it change its direction towards me.
"Can you take that, Alex? Do you want help?" He was teasing me again. He always liked to tease others, especially me. I barely got to see this side of him often since he was the crown prince. I could tell that every time we dueled, he was having fun.
"I think I can handle it." I did the same spell with the water and wind, but I put more water into the tiny tornado and hit the flames. Within a second, I also circled Adrien with a big tornado that fits him. He couldn't make fire if there was no oxygen. I heard choking from where Adrien was at. "Do you give up, your highness?"
I heard something, so I took away the spell. Adrien was breathing hard and was sitting.
"You beat me for the first time." Well, I chose not to stand out, so I let you beat me.
"Thank you, your highness." Adrien stood up and patted away the dust from his backside. He walked over to me and hit me. "Ow, what was that for?"
"How many times do I have to tell you to just call me Adrien? Plus we are friends, right?" I nodded to his second question.
"Your highness, I am from a status lower than yours, so I am still like a servant to you. Also, you are the future king of Bisea, so I can't just call you by your name."
"Well then, I order you to call me by my name and not only me, but Eron, Cleo, and Serena." Well, that made it easier for me. Now I don't have to call them through titles.
"Your highness may speak with young master Alex for a minute." The instructor was walking towards us. I looked at awed audiences. I guess to them we were both gifted. Adrien nodded at the instructor and me before walking away.
"Alex, are you a duel-Elementalist? I'm sure I saw water in some of the spells you created with the wind. I was certain when Prince Adrien's fire spell got extinguished easily." I guess I got figured out. Still keeping it a secret would complicate things.
"Yes."
"Unbelievable, but I don't remember teaching you any water spells."
"I would observe when you teach the other elements and try it out."
"From now on, I will teach water magic and wind magic to you. I will even teach you the dominant state of these elements, which are lightning and ice." Dominant state? That was new. The instructor turned to the class. "Everyone is dismissed." He said this part quietly. "Alex, you stay."
"What about the other duels?"
"The duels will be continued to the next class."
Adrien and the other soldiers packed up their things and started leaving. Adrien patted my back as he left out of the room. As soon as everyone left. I turned to the instructor as we were alone in the room. I wonder why he held me back, even though he did say that he will start teaching me the next class. Did he change his mind?
I was being enclosed with water. I took a deep breath. I was definitely confused for a moment.
"It's a waste to see a talented young man die, isn't it Alex?" That was definitely the instructor's voice, I think. The water was making the sound of his voice weird. It was definitely him from the silhouette. I needed to do something before I drowned. I circled the wind around me, faster and faster. I did it until I caused a whirlpool effect on the water. I, then, directed the wind away from me, pulling the water away from me. I took a deep breath, allowing the fresh air to fill up my lungs. So I wasn't exactly safe in the castle, either.
I stomped the floor and directed the earth to wrap itself around the instructor. I had put some water to give it a muddy texture, then took the water out to harden it into a rock. The instructor's eyes widened as he saw me use an earth spell. I walked towards the instructor until I was right next to him.
"Who sent you here?" The instructor stayed silent. "Was it the previous Duke?" He still stayed silent.
"Since when can you use earth magic?" He looked confused.
"Since a long time ago. Now answer my question and I will free you. If you don't, I have other ways to make you talk." The instructor started laughing.
"Like what?" He looked directly at me and smirked. "This is unbelievable for a six-year-old child, but you can't even kill me. Let me tell you something, child, I am an intermediate mage. I am also on the first stage too. So you can't even scratch me with your spells."
"I guess we are both intermediate mages, then. I just broke through the intermediate first stage like last month." I gave a small smirk, showing off all my confidence. I saw him starting to tense. He gave out a nervous laugh. "I will tell you one last secret since you already found out that I can control water and earth." I tiptoed, so I could get closer. I whispered right into his face. "I can also control fire."
"No, it can't be. You're just a six-year-old. How can you already be a quadra-Elementalist? That's not possible." I formed a small fireball in the palm of my hand for him to see. By that time, he was shocked. "Who are you?"
"Oh, I'm just an average six years old. So, are you going to tell me who it is?"
"No." Since he refused to answer my question, I decided to use a water spell that I recently thought of. I put a hand near his chest and made the water in the blood in his heart move around. The instructor groaned in pain as I did this.
"One last chance to answer." He shook his head. I couldn't give him any more chances, so I moved the blood inside his heart and tore the heart in pieces. The instructor choked up blood before he died. I did try to make it as short as possible since he taught me so many things in the past few years.
