Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

As the crack widened, I heard Ami squeal in excitement. She looked so excited. Everyone adjusted, so they could see. I saw a little hole in the egg. The hole was right in between mom and me. I tried to peek inside to see how it looks like, but it was so dark that I couldn't see anything. I waited for the egg to hatch some more.

I was kind of impatient, so when the top was cracked I decided to help it out by breaking some of the top part of the eggshell. I went to reach for it, but my mom stopped me.

"Let it get out by itself." I let out a disapproving grunt. We waited for five minutes more before it took off the top half of the eggshell. I found blue eyes staring right at me. I leaned forward to the baby dragon. She copied me by leaning forward. She was quite beautiful. She looked sort of like her mother. She was white rather than black, but she still had those beautiful gold designs on her body like Ariella. She stepped out of the bottom part of the eggshell while holding our eye contact.

The young dragon started to walk towards me. She was still a little bit wobbly, but she was walking. I watch as she climbed onto my lap. From the corner of my eye, I saw Ami walk towards me and holding out her arms to come and pick up the dragon. I heard a little growl from my lap, which made Ami start crying. Mom held her back and started whispering and soothing her. Even though it took a little bit of time, she calmed down. I looked back at the white dragon.

She was climbing up my shirt. Well, she was trying. I picked her up to help her out a little bit. I brought her up so that we were face to face. She gave a high-pitched roar right on my face. She started squirming out of the blue which made me accidentally drop her. She bit my nose and her claws dug into my face.

"Let go!" I shook my head and tried to pull her off of me. She bit harder. I took my hands off of her and reached to get her paws off of me, but she let go of me before I touched her. She got onto my shoulder and bit me again. This time I felt a burning sensation.

"Alex, you are on fire." I felt the dragon let go of me. I patted my shoulder to extinguish the fire. When it died down, I still felt the burning sensation. Mom hurried over from her shocked state and looked at my burn.

"A mark?" Mark? I went over to the mirror that was in my room. I leaned over and exposed my shoulder to the mirror. There really was a mark.

'Are you my mommy?' A voice? I never heard this voice before. It was also in my head. I looked back to see the dragon behind me. I kneeled down to the white dragon.

"No." I replied back.

"Sweetie, who are you talking too?" I looked at mom.

"No one." I fell silent with awkwardness. I look back at her. I tried to speak with my thoughts like I did with Ariella. 'You're mommy gave you to me.'

'So are you my sister?' I could see the curiosity in her eyes.

'You know, I am a boy, right?'

'Then can I call you brother?' Even if it was really weird for a dragon to call me brother, I really didn't mind.

'If you want to.'

'What is my name, baba?" She was definitely excited.

'Baba?'

'It is short for brother. So what is my name?' I never really thought of it. Should I just name her white? She is a white dragon. Would she like it? I was about to ask her, but I couldn't. I can't name her because of her color. Her mom's name was Ariella, so something close to that.

'Ari? Do you like Ari?'

'I love it!' Ari started to jump around. I looked up at Ami, who was trying to catch Ari. Ari sensed it and started to take a defensive stance.

'Ari, that is my sister, so that means she is your sister.'

'I have a sister.' Ari jumped into Ami's arms, which made Ami giggle. Ari purred while rubbing her face on Ami's face. Ari looked at Arthur, mom, and dad. They were also looking at Ari with curiosity.

'Who are they, baba?'

'That is your other brother, mom, and dad. This will be your new family.'

'I have mama and papa.' Ari turned to me with smiles. She was definitely happy. I hope Ariella can see her from above. The last descendant of all dragons. I had to keep her safe. I'm pretty sure there would be a lot of greedy humans that would be interested in Ari. Ari got out of Ami's arms and came over to me. She climbed up and rest her head and paws on my head. I walked over to my parents and Arthur while holding hands with Ami.

"So you good? You were having a staring contest with a mana beast this whole time." Arthur said with a smile. I knew he was sort of mocking me.

"I'm fine."

"Does your body hurt anymore? I can still call the doctors if you want." Mom looked so worried. It must have scared her when something like that happened on the day I came. I went over and hugged her.

"I am fine."

"If he says he is fine, then he is fine. Dear, you worry too much." Mom gave my dad a playful little pout. "Anyway, it's already evening and we haven't even practiced yet."

"Practice what?"

"Swordsmanship." Dad paused and looked at me. "Why don't we have a little spar? I want to see how much they taught you."

"You're on."
