A large creature, trampled on the trees and created cracks in the ground as it walked forward. A being composed of pure, solid rock. Its face was shaped like that of a dragon, and its whole body was covered with jagged pieces of rock. After it covered a considerable distance on its four legs, it roared as it saw us.
The battle cry was almost deafening, but I had seen far worse back in the beta realm. This sound was easy to overcome, however, the elf's sensitive ears couldn't bear the noise. She pressed her hands over her bleeding ears and yelled after closing her eyes. "Urrgh!!!"
She had closed her eyes due to the unbearable pain, and the rampaging Demon God took advantage of this moment. He swung his left front limb towards the elf with an extraordinary amount of force. I acted in the moment and grabbed the elf by the waist tightly. Not because...but because... It's pointless to explain this. I grabbed her silky smooth body and leapt into the sky.
I had jumped right in front of the Demon God's glowing red eyes. The monstrous God then proceeded to attack with an orange beam from its mouth. While in midair, I couldn't dodge the attack, nor could I activate [Red Shadow] fast enough. It was as if I saw death before my very eyes. Other than this, I could do nothing to save the elf either. If I'd throw her down from this height, her mortal body could possibly die. I was in a complete deadlock.
Prepared to face the beam, I put my left hand ahead to lower the impact by a little. However, as soon as the beam was in a close proximity, the blue mana shield activated, splitting the beam into two. At the moment, I had forgotten about this effect of the flower.
Quickly, a smirk developed on my face. I no longer had to dodge any attacks that I faced.
[Skill: [Mana Shield] obtained.]
I landed back on the ground, right in front of the Demon God. I let go of the elf and spoke, "System, hand me a Red Flare Herb."
With the flower-like herb in my hand, I spoke to the elf. "Here, eat this."
She ate the herb without a word in reply. Realising her incompetence, she expressed both sadness and anger on her beautiful face. After regaining her composure, she passed the arrow through her bow, and enchanted a spell. Wind started twirling around the arrow. After looking at her readiness, I activated [Red Shadow] and leapt towards the Demon God.
I had leapt in the sky to land on his body, however, half way there, the Demon God's limb moved towards me. Presumably, my mana shield wouldn't block this attack. Mana has the ability to block all mana related attacks, but physical attacks could pass through defences that used mana. I didn't ever use [Red Shadow] for its actual purpose, but I tried to use it in this moment. But before I teleported, the elf's arrow hit the Demon God's arm, shattering the solid rock particles on the tip. The Demon retracted its arm, and started roaring once more.
I landed on the back of the God and smashed its body, creating craters on it. The God tried to shrug me off, however, I managed to latch on to its body. While the Demon God was swaying around, the elf was firing her arrows, cutting shards off of the Demon God's body. While gripping on the God's body with one hand, I was constantly punching it with the other.
Steadily, the Demon God's body began to disintegrate. Attack after attack, the Demon God could do nothing. He simply swayed from one direction to another. When he tried to approach the elf, she fired multiple arrows, cutting a large chunk of his body.
I began to make several craters in its body, and eventually, after creating a large hole in its body, a part of its core could be seen. After finding the black core, I shattered it, ending the Demon God's life.
The large creature fell with a thud. With the death of the Demon God, this world was once again, at peace. I jumped off of its body and approached the elf. "Are you alright?"
The serious look on her face persisted to stay. "I'm fine, however, we won't be in a moment."
Confused, I asked, "Why so?"
"Because the Demon God will be coming. We have to go back to my village to seek help." She walked away from me, and headed east.
"What? Wasn't that the Demon God?"
The elf, while facing in the other direction spoke, "That was merely the Demon God's henchman. You didn't think defeating a God would be this easy, did you?"
After a momentary silence, I spoke, "By the way, what's your name?"
The elf swiftly turned her neck to reply, "It's Shaina."
