Chapter 24 - The Past of the Gods, Part 2

"It pains me each time I think of the incident, but far beyond that pain stands hope; hope that the successor of the Evil God will provide."

The elderly God paused for a moment before she continued, "200 years back, while the Evil God was governing the planet Earth, he transformed. A hideous creature with claw-like hands. Suddenly, his mentality shifted and he became the very thing he wished to destroy. Slowly and steadily, he swept the planet and eradicated a large amount of people. Some Gods stepped in, to prevent the bloodshed, however, the situation only got worse. The colossal battle led to catastrophic damage. Fight after fight, Gods died, planets were annihilated, and a part of the universe was decimated. I too, stood amongst the Gods and fought against the creature which was previously the Evil God. Each God that fought, only seemed to face death when they stood against the Evil God. Blood spilt every other second. Each time I would even attempt to fight against the Evil God, he would counter the very next second. I lost my limbs, but they regenerated, my bones cracked, yet they were restored. Even after all that damage, I didn't die. And even after fighting for years, I was unable to inflict a single scar. Years into the battle, many of the New Gods had died. The few that were fighting then, lost all hope. A few cowardly Gods ran away, and the ones that fought till the end, died.

During that entire time, I watched the slaughter. An endless loop of horror. My apprentice died that day. After killing most of the Gods, the Evil God Seth, rampaged across the universe. Word is, that he still lurks in a corner of the universe, feasting on the flesh of Gods."

The ground rumbled once more. A second later, the rumbling ground was followed by the battle cry of what seemed to be a previously sealed demon.

The Elf God returned to her earlier calm and fidgety expression. "Ah damn it! I forgot about the demon spawn. I'll have to rush, just to beat one of his underlings. The cheeky bastard!! Even when dead, he's a nuisance!"

She sprinted towards the source of the sound and I followed her. Running through the village and through the forest, I cut through the wind as I ran. On the other hand, the old God used her MP to skip along the way. A green air surrounded her as she skipped.

After a few seconds, the large roaring demon was visible. I stopped after reaching considerably close to the demon, however, she continued to pace even after seeing the large creature. Standing still, what I witnessed in that second was fascinating. She passed through the rock present in the demon's body and stood at the other end of the hole she had created. Cracks developed in the demon's body originating from the hole. A second later, the cracks led to the creation of fragments of the demon. The core shattered a while later, causing a minor explosion.

The elf God sighed, "Phew. All done. Now where did I leave the conversation again? Ah right! The dying Gods."

After changing her expression once more into that of a resentful lady, she spoke, "During that battle, most of the newly appointed Gods died. Helpless, during that entire time I watched planets get destroyed, I saw civilisations end. Gods back in the days were divided into three categories. One, the Gods of Time and Space were called the True Gods. The Gods that they initially appointed were called as the New Gods. However, even after the death of the True Gods, Gods were formed through the system. To differentiate ourselves from the younger Gods, we called them the first generation Gods. And you, stand as a God of the second generation, meaning that there have been two Gods from your race that ruled over your species before you."

The Elf God sighed, "Huff... I guess that's all I had to say. Now, you may decide to stay or leave. I won't stop you, but know this, there'll be a time when you'll face your worst fear, be prepared for that moment. And if you decide to leave, take Shaina with you, she's more of a nuisance than the Demon God himself."

After saying this, she turned away and walked towards her village. I took some time to admire the old elf's wisdom, and began to collect more herbs in the neighbouring area before I rushed back to the original planet.

"System, tell me what that is." I pointed towards a black coloured grass, which was present in a small area.

The hell. Why was everything here designed to be edible? It pissed me off at first, but I got over it. If all I had to do was eat grass to obtain another skill, I wouldn't mind to do so. Honestly, the first thing that came to my mind, was that this 'grass' could have potentially saved so many lives back on Earth. A single strand of grass here had that much power on this planet. As my thought progressed, I decided to save a few items for the time I would return to Earth.

After a quick clarification on what I was about to do, I plucked the grass and ate it. While I was stuffing all the grass I could, an elf approached me. As I looked up with my cheeks full of grass, the elf burst into laughter. And yes, that elf was Shaina.
