Chapter 15 - Orcus

In front of the wooden gate, a being that looked similar to a man, was sitting on a wooden chair. The being held a scythe in his hand, and wore a black cloth that covered his body. The cloth hooded his face.

As I walked closer, the being spoke,

"Welcome, God of Evil. I've been waiting for you."

I looked closer into the being's face. A decaying body, whose bones could almost be seen.

I spoke, "Who are you?"

The being looked up and replied, "I am but a messenger of my lord. I merely contain souls in my hand. However, one dying soul that never made its way to me was your predecessor."

"Your lord? Do you refer to the devil? And my predecessor?"

I paused for a moment as my expression changed into anger. I grabbed the being by the collar and asked, "What do you know?"

The being chuckled in a screechy deep voice. "Ha..ha..ha. What do I know?"

The being looked up into my eyes and continued, "Everything."

As I looked into the dark eyes of the being, I spoke, "Then tell me about it."

The being looked down once more and said, "In due time... in due time."

After pausing for a moment, the being spoke once more, "For now, you must face your destiny, you must obey the prophecy. Enter through the wooden gate, and fight against God Orcus."

I let his cloak go and spoke, "The next time I see you, I'll be cutting your head off if you don't tell me more about your words."

I opened the large wooden door, and entered in a room filled with darkness. I could tell that the entire room was made out of stone. As soon as I entered, I saw a few sparks in a corner of the room. The sparks slightly illuminated the room which allowed me to see a bit clearly. A large obese beast was sitting on a huge rock, while sharpening an ever bigger sword with a stone. I could see the beast's back.

As soon as the beast noticed my presence, he stopped sharpening his sword. The beast spoke in a deep bass voice, "I waited here since the origin of your powers, sharpening my sword for this battle."

"The origin of my powers?"

The beast laughed. "He didn't tell you did he? The body you have now, isn't yours. He must have gifted his perfected body to you."

"Who did? Whom do you speak of?"

I was confused beyond measure. What in the world was this beast talking about?

"Well, couldn't you tell by the grin? The Evil God was him."

The grin? The grin! Was he talking about the meat eating beast that I had initially met? But that monster was extremely weak. A group of level 2 heroes had killed the beast with ease while rescuing me.

I questioned, "Then why was he so weak?"

"Isn't it obvious? He gifted his immortal body to you. That's the reason you have this level of strength."

During this conversation, I was piecing together that incident and the beast's words. It could be possible that the smiling beast crushed my body to enhance it, and to shape it. In the process, he could have lost his strength, which would explain why he was so weak. But why did he do something like this?

I shrugged my head. I didn't really need to know about the decisions of my predecessor. I was here to battle against Orcus, one of the four Gods of the underworld. I was eager to know the extent of my strength as a God.

The beast got up from the stone he was sitting on, and turned around to face me. I could see his glowing green eyes.

The beast spoke, "Do you know why you're so eager to fight me?"

The beast bent down and rested his hand on my head. I could now see his face clearly. A grey complexion with two tusks... This was Orcus.

The beast continued, "Because the Evil God lives inside you."

Hearing this, I realised that he was in fact right. Why was I so eager to begin with? The way I behaved, just wasn't like who I was before.

I asked, "Then tell me, how do I fight against him?"

The orc moved his hand away from my head and straightened his back. "Boy, you think too much of yourself. You don't fight the God of Evil within you, you eventually become one with him."

The orc sighed and continued speaking, "I have a lot to tell you. But first, we battle."

The orc swung his large sword across the room (clockwise) while gripping on to it with both his hands. And I ducked to avoid the hit. The sword landed on the wall, which caused the wall to break. The outside was clearly visible. The molten lava illuminated the room, and now, I could see clearly. I let the red aura flow and ran forward.

The God swung his sword once more (anticlockwise), and this time, I jumped on it. I began running on the flat side of the sword as it was moving. As soon as the God was finished with his swing, I jumped into the air and attempted to land a right hook on the God's face.

Just as I was about to punch him, an unknown force pushed me all the way to the wall behind me. I crashed into the wall, creating a dent. My nose started bleeding, and my back was nearly crushed. My back was stuck in the wall.

I squirmed a bit and fell to the ground. As I was slowly getting up, Orcus smiled and said, "You passed this test human. You passed."
