Killian's POV
It was a few days after I had punched my best friend's mate and it had not been easy. Kelsey, not that I blamed her, would not let me out of her sight. I never noticed how many classes we shared until she became my shadow. I have also been obsessed with the intoxicating smell at school. It is all over that building and as much as I want to find it's source, it is very good at hiding. Not to mention, I have spent every second of my free time at work or researching what I might be. My guides still haven't spoken to me since Selene came into the picture. I miss them but for now there is nothing I can do about it.
In the woods, about twenty minutes from my school is a place I had loved to go to ever since I was a child. My childhood friend had found it and showed it to me. I call it my Haven because nobody else knows of it and I can escape to it when everything becomes too much.
It was just a simple field with flowers but, surrounding it was a long cliff that reached past the tops of the trees. There was a waterfall in the center that fed into a lake.
Per usual, I had climbed up the side of the cliff and walked along a narrow ledge to the cavern behind the waterfall. There I sat with my books surrounding me as I laid on my back. A different book in my hands hovering above my face. Selene and I talked as we looked through the various creatures and beings that could make up what we are.
"Do you think we are a Pengeran?" I asked mentally. Her feminine voice giggled and I smiled as well.
"Is there a way to find out?" she asked and I looked back to the book. It was luckily in English instead of Latin or Greek, as some of the others were.
"I think this is it, here. Do you want to try it?" I asked and I could feel her excitement. A smile made its way onto our face as she nearly screamed 'yes' in my ear.
With my back to the side of the cavern wall, I sat Indian style. My hands rested in my legs, closed palm facing upward. My eyes fluttered shut as I focused on the power I knew dwelled within me. A surge of power washed over me as I muttered the word "Crear". I felt the power as it concentrated in my left hand. I could feel it take form in my palm as I loosened my palm. My eyes slowly opened as the spell dispersed. I brought my hand up to inspect what lay beneath my opening fingers. A gasp escaped me as my eyes caught sight of the most adorable creature I had ever seen.
In the palm of my opened hand was a dragon smaller than a newborn kitten. It looked as though it was made with greyish clay. The spell had perfectly recreated the creature in my imagination. Though, I was both shocked and tickled pink when it moved to look up at me. Its gentle and curious green eyes looked up at me. Its head tilted adorably and unable to resist, I patted its head with the tip of my pointer finger.
"Hello child, you are named Clayson." Selene cooed through my mouth, though I agreed. The small dragon uncoiled itself and licked my palm with its minuscule tongue. A small smile made its way onto my lips as it looked to me with its jade eyes. I felt pride flow through both myself as Selene as we looked at our rather small creation. As I looked down at my new child, it struck me like a lightning bolt… was I its mother?
"Yes, you are its mother," Jun commented and annoyance filled my soul.
"Look who finally decided to show up!" I mused sarcastically.
"The others and I have been in deliberation about your powers. The full moon is tonight and you still have not figured out what you are. Not to mention what we, your guides stand for. Then there is that mysterious scent that has been driving us mad." Jun explained and I rolled my eyes.
'I know very well when the full moon is you asshat. I have been waiting for you and the others to come out of hibernation so we could discuss my ideas of what you are. Instead, you have all been off in deliberations that were not necessary.' I reprimanded inwardly with clear annoyance in each word.
"OOO, me first!" Amelia said excitedly.
'I just have a couple of questions first.' I replied with a smile on my lips.
"Let's do this!" she agreed readily and I snickered at her excited-ness. I picked up the notebook I had been working on ideas in. I flipped through the lined pages until I found the one I needed, the one he labeled as Vardiya.
'So, Amelia, My first question is, can you turn into a wolf?" I asked without emotion but yet hope bubbled inside of me. I had always loved wolves and it would be amazing if I could become a wolf.
"I can do that, yes," she admitted and I smiled.
'Would you be considered rare?' I asked my second question.
"The rarest," she replied with sorrow in her voice.
'Hmmm, then my guess is a Vardiya. You are extremely rare in the supernatural community and you have always been a bit more emotional than the others. Not that it bothers me, I find it endearing. I also have this feeling that you are very wise.' I answered.
"You are correct, I am a Vardiya." she nearly shouted in excitement.
"Amelia, do you accept Selene and I to be your host?" I asked in return.
"I, Amelia, accept you, Killian and Selene, as my host." Amelia recited and a surge of power started in my middle and worked its way out to my fingers and toes.
When it stopped, I opened my eyes had not realized I closed them. I was in what I could only assume was my own mind. I could see out through my eyes that I was still in the cave, but beside me stood two very different creatures. One was a woman with a beautiful mane of white hair. Her slender face held eyes much like my own, two different colored ones. One of them a brilliant red while the other was a dazzling purple. She had a small nose with luscious pink lips that were carved up into a welcoming smile. Her slim figure was covered in something between armor and a dress. It balanced well with her pale pink skin.
Standing beside her was a humanoid wolf. It stood on its hind legs while the front ones hung at its sides like arms on a human. The obvious breasts that resided inside of her black halter tank top made her gender clear. She wore a pair of black shorts that had a special hole made for her fluffy tail. I instantly wanted to touch it but I felt that was rude.
"Killian, I am you as you are me. If you wish to touch our tail then, by all means," she said with an amused smile on her lips. For a moment I wondered if I had spoken aloud as I marched forward. She turned her back to me in a clear invitation.
"We might be in the same body but you are still you. I want to respect you as the individual that you are. So, hi Amelia, it's nice to finally meet you." I answered as I walked in front of her. The shock was clear, even on her wolf-like face. The wolfish grin was adorable as she took my outstretched hand.
"I am very glad that you are my host. Not many hold the respect they should for their other halves, thirds, or even fourths. However, you should not give your guides too much power. We may be your guides but you are the one who leads us. Even Selene herself couldn't go against you. The way she accepted you made her the submissive part of the soul." Amelia warned with a soft wolfish smile and her green eyes looked down at me. It was then I recognized the green from my own eye.
"I finally understand why my eyes are two different colors…" I mumbled absent-mindedly only to be brought back to reality by two very different laughter. Amelia's laugh sounded like a canine huffing while Selenes sounded like soft windchimes on a breeze. I couldn't help but join in, even if I did sound like a dying walrus.
"Killian, sweetie, did you hear a word I said?" Amelia asked with her eyes alight with amusement.
"Of course I did. Our matching eyes just took me off guard afterward. I have always felt like I wasn't normal and now I know I wasn't. I am just extra weird but there's a reason for it." I replied as calm understanding filled me.
"I'm glad that you found some peace but I think Jun and Samantha are getting impatient," Amelia suggested and I nodded.
"Right, who wants to go next?" I asked and was shocked to hear silence.
"I think we should do Jun next, how about you?" Selene asked and I nodded along.
"Jun, are you ready?" I asked and he responded with a curt 'yes'.
"Alright, my first question is, Do you possess the ability to wield magic?" I asked in a calm voice. Again, he answered with a curt 'yes' and it set me on edge. I ignored the feeling in my gut as I asked my next question.
"Are you one with nature and its inhabitants?" I asked knowing if it was no, I would have no idea what he was.
"Indeed, I am close to nature and its inhabitants." He admitted but it sounded forced.
"Do you wish not to be my guide?" I asked as sadness leaked into my words as much as I tried to sound collected.
"That is not it, young one. I just worry that your lack of knowledge with magic may cause you to mishandle our power." Jun admitted and I frowned deeper.
"So you wish to stay and yet you have no faith in my abilities. Just today, Selene and I created a beautiful dragon with magic. It took a lot of time and reading but I have not been twiddling my thumbs waiting for you to come back!" I shot back as Amelia placed a calming paw on my shoulder. I placed a hand over her blonde haired paw in understanding.
"That... No… I just mean… Killian, I will accept you no matter what. I just worry about you." Jun backtracked.
"Why are you so worried? You are my guide! If I have trouble, is it not your job to be there and help me?" I questioned and he went silent. I sighed and changed my attention to my other guide.
"While he thinks, Samantha, would you like to go?" I asked and she instantly agreed.
"Of course! I am rather excited about this!" She said in excitement, a side of her I had never seen.
"Right, my first question is the same as Jun. Do you have the ability to use magic?" I inquired.
"Oh yes, different kinds as well," she admitted.
"I know what you are and what will happen if I accept you. What I need to know is if you will join us or fight me at every turn?" I asked and she went silent.
"What do you mean?" Selene asked.
"She is not a guide like the others thought. Instead she is a form of Demon. They attach themselves to the strongest souls they can find within twenty-four hours of their creation or they fizzle out. That is why she is so excited to be accepted. She will either be accepted and be one of us or she will fight for permanent control over the body. If I do not accept her, she will lose all of her power to us, and be ejected from our body." I explained what I had read and opened my notebook to the correct page.
"If you accept me, I will make a pact with you. I will promise to only act as a piece of you and you will promise to not only accept me but allow me to be one of your guides as well." Samantha bartered.
"I would have it no other way, Sam. Now, how shall we seal our pact?" I asked but she was silent for a few moments.
"If you accept me, I will appear before you. I will form a physical pact with you." Samantha suggested.
"I will accept you, but if this is a trick, keep in mind that I can just as easily eject you. I have done all the research needed for such a time." I countered.
"Of course," she agreed.
"Samantha, you are a Shayton. Do you accept Selene and I to be your host?" I asked.
"I, Samantha, Accept you, Killian and Selene, as my host," she answered and her power merged with ours. Then it felt like the pressure was building inside of my skull. I knew instantly it was her power pushing for control. I gathered all of my strength and pushed back, not allowing her to gain control.
It only lasted a moment before her physical form settled in front of me and the other two. Her red hair swirled around her face and down her shoulders. Bright red eyes to match her hair as she looked us over. Tattoos were visible down her arms, over her stomach, and legs. She wore a black tube top that was more lace than fabric and a short spandex skirt made of the same. Fangs poked out from her ruby painted lips as she smiled at us. Her brown eyes focused on me as she bit into her wrist.
"Take my blood into your mouth and drink. I will do the same with yours. A tattoo of sorts will appear on our shin to show our pact." she explained. I took a moment to look into her eyes. I thought of the information I had gathered. With both the sincerity in her voice and the information I read, I stepped forward until I was in front of her.
"Why are you all taller than me?" I grumbled as I held out my left wrist and brought hers to my mouth. Samantha and the others laughed before she dug her fangs into my wrist. I yelped before I shoved her wrist into my mouth. I only broke away when she did the same. When I looked at my wrist, I saw the symbol our pact had chosen. It was the wolf I had drawn and the one Carson had made for me with a yin-yang sign behind it.
"It's beautiful, is it not?" Samantha asked and I nodded.
"Jun, I do believe that you have a decision to make. It will be nightfall in two hours." Amelia chimed in.
"Indeed, I have made a choice. I will accept him as my guide if he so wishes me to be?" Jun responded and I smiled at the others.
"You, my friend, are a warlock. Jun, do you accept I, Killian and Selene, to be our host?" I answered and I could feel the other three's pride.
"I, Jun, accept you, Killian and Selene, as my host." He said and the moment he was finished, a new wave of power surged through my being, and for once in my life, I felt complete.
When I opened my eyes, a man stood in front of me. He was a full foot and a half taller than me with the same black hair as me. It only covered half of his head while the other half was shaved close to his head. He had brilliant blue eyes, the same as my blue eye. I was stunned at how much we resembled each other even if there were some obvious differences. He wore a baggy black sweatshirt and some black tight-fitting pants. In his left hand was a staff and in his right was a wand.
"Now that we are officially whole, we will be able to recognize our mate not only by smell. We will be able to look into their eyes and know for sure. Once we find them, we will be truly completed." Amelia shouted excitedly, her blonde tail swished back and forth at hyper speed.
The merged power began to surge and Selene dropped to the ground. The other three along with myself rushed over to her. Her eyes open wide as she mumbled incoherently. I knelt beside her and attempted to tame her wild hazel locks, unsure of what else to do.
Suddenly, her hand shot out and grabbed my wrist. Shocked, I looked down at her shocked face. Her eyes were clear and filled with a new purpose and she moved to sit up. Her next words were ones that changed all that we thought we knew.
"I remember, everything..."
