Chapter 7 - chapter six: part two

Selene's POV

The moment we were completed, I felt the power surge through me. I felt as my body hit the floor but had no strength to move as Memory after memory flooded through my brain. I finally knew more than just my name. I knew of the other 'children' I had created over many years and many rebirths. I knew why I felt so connected to the werewolves. They were one of my many creations.

The others stood around me in Killian's and my consciousness. I knew I needed to explain but how do I tell them? How do I explain that I am- no, that we are so much more powerful than most other creatures.

"Hafu ina, I need you to talk to me." Killian murmured and it was then I realized I sat cradled in his lap while the others had gone. I looked into the eyes of the other half of my soul. The look in his eye confused me... it was not fear nor was it hate. It felt as though he understood my plight already, without me having to say a word.

"You know everything as well, don't you?" I asked, my eyes never leaving his. I could see the truth in his eyes even before he nodded.

"We are one and the same, of course, I have your memories as well. Just as you share mine." He replied and shifted his gaze to our surroundings. I snuggled into his body as we enjoyed each other's company. We found comfort in each other as we fell into unconsciousness.

Killian's POV

It was Monday, the best day of the week... not. After all the power that surged through us, Selene and I are exhausted. As much as we wanted to curl back up into our thin blanket and sleep, something told me I needed to get up. Something inside of me screamed that today was not the day to stay in bed. So, like any other mythical creature, I followed my instincts. I lifted myself up off of the hard floor and stumbled into the awaiting bathroom. My curiosity spurred me faster as I went through my morning routine. My shower was quick yet bone-chilling, but I dressed in rather light clothing anyway. I slipped on a blue polo that wouldn't stay closed at the buttons, some black jeans that were a size too small, and my black sweatshirt.

When I finished getting ready, I looked in the mirror, still shocked by the changes in my appearance. Half of my previously black hair was now whiter than snow. The other half remained black. It was a symbol of sorts, it represented how Selene and I were one and the same. My eyes had also gained specs of silver in them, just like each of our guides had in their own.

It was time to leave by the time I had given myself a once over. I decided to leave early so the others in the house wouldn't realize I am not the same. I didn't know what they would do but I was not going to take that chance. I slunk down the stairs as fast as I could without making a sound. Relief filled me when I reached the back door uninterrupted.

I rounded the side of the house as I hummed a mellow tune. My head was clear and free for the first time since I lost my entire life. I felt like things were going to be okay once I asked Kelsey the favor I have been burning inside to ask her. I thought about the night before and a smile formed on my lips. I was finally who I was always meant to be and I floated on air until I reached the front of the house.

Leaned against the passenger side door of my truck, despite all the times I told him not to, was Carson. This time, however, was different. As I walked closer I noticed the black eye, split lip, and how the right side of his jaw was bruised. I gasped when he finally looked at me, his eyes welled up with tears.

"Oh my God, Carson! What happened? Are you okay?" I asked once I was next to him. I could see the pain he was in as he tried to shake it off.

"Don't worry, brother. We can talk about it on the way to school," he responded nonchalantly but I saw the flicker of his eyes. I knew he needed to get out of there, so I didn't argue. With a stiff nod, we both climbed into the awaiting truck. I placed the key in the ignition and stared it up as soon as we were both buckled in. I put the truck in gear and got us out of there without a word. I didn't say a word as Carson clenched and unclenched his fists.

"I know you want to know what happened to my face but we have bigger problems. First of all, I never told you that I was also adopted. I was only three when they took me in and tried to make me like them. They are Lovac, and last night I overheard them talk about you. They had a mission to obtain something of importance from you. However, they failed and now some bigshot Lovac is on the way to finish the job. This person scared the crap out of the Fulkturts and in turn scared the crap out of me." Carso explained after a few minutes and fear crept through my system like a virus. I pulled off to the side of the road as I thought of the implications he just brought up. I was a hunted creature that could put so many at-risk and yet even though I knew I should leave, something screamed for me to stay. Though I have only had these instincts for mere hours compared to my new immortal life, I decided to follow them.

"Everything that is of importance to me is in storage and anything else I would need is in the back of this very truck. I made a plan to ask my friend if I could stay with her for the time being but I think that you should come with me. That way if she says no, we can both work together to get an apartment. If she says yes, we both can have a new home. Don't worry about your diet either, it is something we can figure out later." I finally answered as I turned to look at him. He stared out the windshield until the last sentence. His eyes grew big before they shot over to me. I only gave him a reassuring smile as he stared at me. I had learned what he was while I tried to figure out myself.

"You know?" he mumbled as he looked away.

"I do and it has changed nothing, brother," I responded as I placed my hand on his shoulder. I could see the war going on behind his eyes. He looked down at his hands as several unreadable emotions passed over his face.

"You still want me to come, even though you know I am a monster?" Carson asked and my heart broke. I reached out and took his hand in mine as I thought of how to respond. Then I remembered, I am not as human as I thought all these years. I looked out the windshield as I made the decision to tell him.

"Carson, you are no more a monster than I am. No matter what anyone said or did, you are not bad just for being what you are. If that was true then I would be a monster just like you. You are not the only one who is more than they seem." I responded, as I looked back at him. His eyes were wide before they flicked over to my half black/half white hair.

"Then, what are you?" he asked quietly and I expected the question. I nodded as I returned my gaze out the front windshield. I watched the cars pass us by before I pulled back out into traffic. Driving was a good excuse not to look at him.

"That is difficult to answer because I am different than most. I am a soul that was created by the Pengeran inside of me. She split her soul in half to create me and instead of absorbing me, she accepted me as part of her. That is why she is not in control. I also have Shayto and Vardiya, and warlocks in here." I explained the best I could as I turned the last corner to school.

"By the Gods, you are one powerful beast. No wonder the Fulkturts decided to leave it to the newcomer. However, if your friend agrees, I would love the chance to get away from those people." Carson answered as he clasped a hand onto my shoulder. I could see the pain he had been trying to hide for so long.

"Of course, but I do need to ask before I get to the school if we are still going to act as enemies?" I questioned and glanced at him quickly.

"No, there is so much more I need to tell you. The reason I look like this is that I defended you to Lee, who by the way is the Fulturts bio son." He spat and it was my turn for my eyes to grow wide in shock. I finally pulled into the closest parking space as we reached the school's parking lot.

"Well, Holy shit, I did not see that coming," I replied but by the look on his face, there was more. I turned the truck off as we sat there and talked. He explained that Lee was living with his grandparents until high school. The summer before his freshman year he had been bitten by a werewolf and his grandparents rejected him. He moved to be with his parents but they wanted nothing to do with him as well. As it turned out, he had been bullying me to get his parents to accept him. The truth is they never plan to accept him and they want to kill us both.

"They wanted me to be like them and follow them into the world of Lovac's. I have no intention to follow them into that lifestyle." Carson finished and I could only sit there slack-jawed. It was a lot to take in, not only are my adoptive parents an enemy to the supernatural community and terrible people but they are also the parents of my bully. Besides what they did to me behind closed doors, it was almost too much to handle.

"Wow... " is all I managed to say.

"Believe it or not, there is still more. I was never friends with Lee, the Fulturts only used him to spy on me. They thought that I was helping you behind their backs. He also threatens me with the fact that he knows I don't want to be a Lovac. He threatens me daily saying he will tell his parents." Carson added and my eyes shot over to him.

"It is pretty clear that we need to talk but it will have to wait. We still need to go to school but at least we don't have to act like enemies any longer. We will stop by the house later to grab your things." I responded and he nodded before we both climbed out of the truck.

"What are we going to do if your friend says no?" He asked as we walked toward the school building.

"I should have enough for a down payment to an apartment plus a month's rent. You will need to get a job to help out though." I answered as I opened the front door to the school.

"If that is the cost of getting away from those monsters, I will pay it willingly," Carson replied as he laughed. For the first time since we met, we entered school together and the other students seemed to take notice. The glares were now aimed at both of us but this time I glared back. They can hate me but not Carson, he has been nothing but good to me.

We reached my locker in no time and he bid his farewell so he could get to his on time. I waved him off as I opened my locker. I ignored the people around me as I found yet another blue bundle of small flowers in my locker. I scooped them up and placed them with the others before I changed out my books.
