Darien awoke with a fright, his gasps growing as he slowly grabbed his forehead, rubbing the sweat away from his forehead before starting to breathe quickly, his body felt freezing as he quickly pulled himself from bed before starting breathing deeply.
"I must have had a horrible dream again after everything that went down."
He muttered as he slowly pulled himself from the bed, wobbling over to the kitchen sink as he started to pour water out.
His vision blurry as he looked around for his glasses. He spent almost ten minutes looking before he groaned.
"Where the hell are they?"
Muttering as his hand went up to his face, feeling his glasses on the end of his nose, blinking a few more times as he pushed them up. His vision was still blurry as he felt panic starting to rise from him again before pulling them off.
"Wait, what the…"
His voice quiet as his vision improved, drastically. He looked around as he saw everything in clear detail.
His breathing was growing quicker as he moved to the bathroom, entering as his vision was even better in the dark, he saw everything as if it was in pure light.
Standing in front of the mirror caused his breath to catch hard as he noticed his shaggy hair had turned to a straight but pure snow white, eyes a deep but cold red. It was not as crimson as normal vampires but had a more burgundy look.
"I'm… I'm a vampire?"
His words caught again as he stumbled back, sitting down on the toilet seat as he felt his breath catching more, hands moving through his hair as he felt each smooth strand passing through his hair. Each part made him wince as he even felt small details.
His vision had improved but he could also feel everything else improving.
He heard people outside the door to his house walking past, daily lives as everyone continued to live each day.
He could smell food from next door. The smell of sausage and the strange scent of burnt toast.
He could even taste the dried blood in his mouth even after everything. Every small meal he had for the past week was also still around even after brushing and rinsing his mouth.
Though the taste of food made him feel sick.
He sat simply cursing his own thoughts as he really had no idea what to do. His eyes moved to his front door as he just took another sharp breath.
"I should go see Sharon, she is my only friend that has any ideas about vampires, maybe she can help out."
His voice echoed as he stood up. He stripped out of his worn, destroyed clothing as he looked back at the mirror to find the next sight almost as stunning.
His normal worn, thin and rather poor quality body had been replaced.
Muscles, defined and rather perfect.
It was like he had been sculpted to that of a God.
His already handsome features had been reduced by his poor physical look and the rather ramshackle glasses that had been repaired many times.
Though his mind went back to the woman who had frozen him in place, maybe that was the reason he had turned and maybe it was also the reason he had lost his light powers. If he was turning into a vampire then it was rather simple to see that he no longer could wield such magic.
Though he saw her using some sort of frost or ice-based magic, his hand moving out as he tried to force the magical energy out, though he simply stood with his hand outstretched with nothing happening.
"Well, that sucks. It would have been rather cool to have frost mag… oh fuck me I just punned."
He cringed in the mirror before quickly hopping into the shower and doing his normal routine, cleaning himself up as he wanted to make sure to head to Sharon's house and figure everything out.
After getting ready, taking his items he quickly exited his ramshackle house before locking it.
Though as he turned around he noticed a massive amount of attention on him as a few dozen people stared at him from all around the street.
He noticed a mixed reaction.
Many feared him, quickly moving away and trying to stay away.
A few were rather lustful or needy for his attention, if his eyes landed on them they began to breath heavy and blush. This was a reaction from both women and men.
The last few stared at him with hate and despair in a mixture that was rather painful for him to take note of.
Every step he took seemed to gather attention from both humans and even the few vampires at the checkpoint area. Normally when he walked past the checkpoint areas he was stopped, searched and harassed for every point.
This time as he approached the line, stepping to the back he felt his blood freeze as the line split in half, letting him pass.
Darien felt his mind racing as he began to walk down the centre of the line, eventually reaching to the two vampires standing at the front. His head tilted down to them.
Holy fuck, he had even grown in size. He was just above six foot in height but was closer to six foot four now. (1.8 Meters to 1.95 meters)
"I'm passing."
He simply stated as the vampire nodded his head, Darien quickly moving past as he felt his body shaking as he basically had just told the vampire what he was doing.
Back at the Checkpoint though both the vampires felt the sweat crawling down the back of their necks. Both were simple scab vampires and had felt the dread rushing over them.
Scab vampires were the second-lowest vampire on the totem pole, though the lowest was the ghouls who were simply mindless killing machines who were a pest.
"Fuck me, when did this new vampire appear. He scared the shit out of me."
The other vampire nodded, he had tried to keep his gaze from looking into the man's eyes, though when his eyes did eventually connect he felt such an oppressive force that made him just want to weep.
The vampires quickly cursed their terrible luck as they began to treat the humans even worse today to blow off some steam.
