Escorted through the grounds felt like he was walking to his execution. The vampires around the area turned to stare at the man like he was a delectable morsel of food getting passed through.
In the entire Academy, only about four hundred vampires were enrolled, mostly just the newborn who had turned into a vampire. It was also only for Regular vampires and above, anything lesser or a scab simply were tossed out onto the street to fend for themselves.
Entering the main room, it was mostly like a colosseum with hundreds of vampires and thousands of enslaved humans watching as several new humans were getting tested at a strange glowing orb at the centre.
"Stan, Rank Three Air Mage, accepted into the Academy… Just."
The voice sitting on the throne at the other end of the Hall was one of the three highest-ranked vampires in the city.
Kari Lessard.
Anyone turned normally discarded the last name they normally had and would switch it to the clan's name. Lessard being the clan name for most Western European vampires as it was a standard.
Scab vampires could sadly not change to the last name, being a failure in most respects. They simply were referred to as nameless.
Kari was sired by a rather powerful Noble vampire, having attracted her Sire through her powerful magic and intelligence. Her old Wind magic sadly had faded though she had gained new powers because of the changeover.
Her blonde hair is a signature with her dull red eyes as she stared at the group.
"Ahh, I see the light mage has arrived. Excellent please step forward and let's confirm the powers."
She spoke gently, waving up the human as she looked rather hungry. Once the powers were confirmed she would take this human male as her thrall, having a low powered Light mage was a prestige item.
Though if this mage was higher than Tier 4, she would have to kill him by the demands of the vampire law. They could not have a powerful light mage killing vampires.
Darien felt every single eye on him as he stepped up. When he had tested himself at the examination hall he had found his powers were Tier one. The lowest and not even capable of doing much except being a light show.
He knew that his regular life was over, he would become some vampire's play thing and trophy to lord around as a rare treasure.
His feet eventually taking him up as he pressed his fingers onto the orb, trying to summon his powers as he felt nothing.
Simply… Nothing.
Opening his eyes to surprise as he felt nothing, his light magic was gone. He started to panic as he tried again and again, though the Orb silently changed to being fully clear.
Some vampires burst out into laughter, others frowned and looked rather disappointed before finally Kari's hand moved, waving and silencing them all.
"What a waste of my time. So weak that your light magic has simply disappeared, or maybe you bribed your way in the assessment area before to get them to change the results… Whatever, get him out of here and let's continue. "
Darien felt two hands on his shoulders, the strength being huge as he was dragged off and eventually tossed back onto the train without much care in the world. Though that was not the end when a Vampire came inside and began to kick, punch and slam him against the walls.
The vampire was going easy on the man though in reality with such strength, speed and power behind each action. Darien felt like his bones were breaking and blood flowed out of him with each blow.
It was not long before the train was moving back along the track, his entire body bruised, bleeding or just plain numb. Hospitals were a luxury he could not afford as he was classified as a second tier citizen and did not gain all the same benefits
Darien was lucky in some aspects as he did not meet anyone else or a vampire. His state was one that made him a rather easy target. Eventually coming back to his home as he simply went inside in a rather depressed state as everything had gotten stripped from him.
Piece by piece he lost it all.
His memories gone,
His strength gone,
Now his magical powers had gone.
Entering into his home, he felt so alone and lost in his life, his life dripping out of him as the blood scattered across the floor with gentle drips.
Maybe it was best he simply died at this point. He really cared little for this world anyways.
"Giving up?"
The voice in his mind caused him to pause, turning around as he noticed the woman from before. His eyes confused but he was not worried. He really cared little at this point so her appearance really did not change anything.
"You gave up once before."
She stated as Darien felt cold sweat pouring down his face as he looked at the woman, her white hair floating in the air like she was simply a ghost. A layer of ice formed over all the objects around the room as she slowly moved forward like a spector.
"I have waited for so long to make this right."
Darien felt his body pressing against the wall, his fear starting to now erupt from him now as something was very wrong, something felt odd with this woman as she came closer to him, pressing him against the wall as Ice began to form around him quickly, turning his lower half and arms into an ice statue.
"Oh god, please stop... "
His words went onto deaf ears as her mouth opened and a pair of fangs appeared. Her eyes soft and gentle like this was nothing more than a simple process.
"I will repay my debts."
Her voice was soft, eventually biting down onto the man who screamed his mind out as he tried to do anything.
He was useless, he could not even fight back against this person as his vision faded to black.
