Chapter 3 - Differences

The dreadful sounds of hustle around the area broke through the dreadfully designed shack.

The small room having only two rooms, one being a bathroom with the main room being a small Japanese sized room. It had a bed, a small kitchen and that was about it. Some hotel rooms were larger than this.

Darien felt his head ringing as the after-effects of the Alcohol making him feel weary as it was a rather stupid idea to drink so much on his first day of testing at the new Acadamy.

As he began to rise, he quickly felt the dread smashing into him as she rushed into the bathroom, checking his neck quickly. He found nothing, his body fine if not only a bit malnourished which seemed to be one of the secondary signs of his awakening.

"Fuck me, I must have drunk something spiked…"

Muttering under his breath as he relaxed. His eyes closing as he stumbled back out, his head like a drum with a master artist having a solo performance with his brain.

He quickly turned on the TV as he got dressed, the news playing a rather beautiful woman began speaking, her vampiric nature easy to see as her red eyes shone and her fangs poked out.

"In a repeat of the previous news. The current Werewolf Wars have concluded for the seventh time at a stalemate. A Giovanni spokesperson has said that the horrid but wild creatures have been pushed back into the Syberian wastes."

Darien switched the TV off, really not caring about the news at this point, what did it really matter in his little small world here. Humans were not permitted to move around anyways, it was a luxury to even have a TV.

"Well shit, I'm totally going to be late on my first day."

As Darien left the shack, his body taking him through the crowded streets as humans moved around like sardines packed in a can.

The sun behind a thick cloud cover that was suspected to be vampiric in nature though most vampires would deny that with ease.

Eventually passing through the slums, heading to the gateway to the Noble area. Several vampires approaching Darien as they stopped him and began to search his belongings.

Books getting opened, belongings searched and his own body searched. Treated more like an animal than someone with feelings as he was pushed around.

"Oh look at this lad, Light mage?"

One of the vampires spoke dressed in a rather simple black dress shirt, looking proper as he began to smirk looking at Darien's ID.

This had changed a rather routine search into all three vampires staring at the man with clear desire.

Magic changed a person's blood, it was a different taste depending on the magical source.

The only female of the group approached Darien, wrapping an arm around his side and dragged him closer.

"Well, hey cutie. Maybe you should skip school and come with me."

She bared her fangs lightly as she began to smell his skin, the scent of his blood driving her slightly insane as she really wanted to drink.

"Kerri, off him. He's in the Greater Shields Academy. Do you want to have your head chopped off and then onto a spike."

The woman sighed, pulling off Darien as she moved back to the group as she began to bitch.

"Being a scab vampire really fucking sucks, really who would have thought that being turned would only get guard duty!"

"Better than being human!"

They began to laugh, the last guard forcing the bag into Darien's arms before he motioned to continue.

"Hurry up."

Those words spoke from the last guard, Darien quickly moving inside as he walked down the steps onto the metro platform.

The Journey taking some time as the train moved along the tracks. Crammed inside with many other humans as people got on and off the train. Eventually, Jon getting onto the train and sitting next to Darien, his hand patting his back as they sat in silence.

"Sharon is hanging out with her 'Boyfriend"

Jon spoke lightly as he gave air quotes to the boyfriend part. Vampires never took humans as anything equal. It was just a nice term to use when the vampires in the next carriage could easily over her you.

Darien just nodded, Eventually the announcement ringing out.

"Lesser Shields Academy Stop."

The train evacuating completely now as Darien stood up with Jon.

"Good luck mate. Keep in touch, right?"

His words growing fonder as he patted the man on the back, slipping off the train with the other students.

The doors shut eventually, the train began to move as Darien felt eyes on him. The vampires in the carriage staring at the one lone human in the train as a few began to whisper.

Humans rarely came to the Greater Academy.

Any human claimed by a vampire would sit with them in the Vampire Carriage which could only mean one thing.

He was fresh meat.

The remaining five minutes on the train felt like an eternity. The eyes staring at him as he began to feel his courage waning as he simply wanted to remain on the train forever. If it was by his own choice he would have stayed here and then go back home.

Though that was not a possibility. The only reason he was not getting dragged along at this moment was due to the Lessard clan's way of dealing with things. They simply liked to have people think they had a choice.

"Greater Shields Academy. Final Stop!"

As the doors opened, two female vampires stepped inside with disgust clearly visible on their eyes though desire and greed also visible as they looked at the man sitting alone.

"Mr Westervelt, please follow us and hurry. Otherwise, punishment will be given."

They really wanted him to misbehave so they could apply 'Appropriate punishment.'

His Academy life had begun… and he already hated it.
