Chereads / Astrophilia / Chapter 2 - ⭐2: The Astrophile

Chapter 2 - ⭐2: The Astrophile

Cleiv paced around the airport, not in nervousness, but in excitement. He was finally able to see someone who he had been waiting for the past few years. When he saw the plane land, and the passengers(mostly teens or families with children) rushing out of the gate, he peered over the heads of many, seemingly searching for that someone.

However, it was to no avail that he had found the person he looked for. Bummed, he walked to one of the stores in the airport, it was a mini coffee shop inside the mall. He sat down with his bubble tea in hand, taking a sip then sighed, before taking out his phone and looked in the inbox for any missed messages or phone calls. Yet again, there was none.

"Dammit..." he mumbled as he leaned on his chair. Closing his eyes, trying to hold back the growing tears in them. What took him by shock was a pair of hands covering his eyes tightly. He let out a gasp and screech, though it sounded like a dying animal or a puppy dog being hurt than a horrific one.

"Been looking for you, CA!" The owner's voice said with a giggle. The owner was a female with black hair and ocean blue eyes, in which one eye had a dab of green. Her skin was pale, as if she were pulled out of the cold snow. She wore a winter coat over a blue jersey and her tight black turtle neck. Her pants were on the bottom were tightly sealed by her black combat boots. On the floor she had put down her luggage just to suprise Cleiv.

Cleiv, instead of actually screaming in joy, cried with her hands still over his eyes. The female gave a questioning look and removed her hands to reveal him crying a river. The blond male had opened his eyes to finally see the person he looked for. It looked rather adorable to see him cry, it was like watching a child cry because he missed someone or something. "...K-kara..." He cried as he rubbed the tears away, "... I was looking all over for you!" He yelled as he stood up abruptly and hugging her.

Everyone was looking at the two, all heart throbbed because of how adorable Cleiv had acted. And seeing this situation, it looked more like the young male missing his long distance girl friend than anything else. Although, despite the commotion they were making, the manager of the shop didn't kick them out, after all, it was a common occurance in meeting someone you haven't seen in years.

Kara, the female, smiled a kind smile and patted the male's back, along with hugging him in return. "Hey... Dont Cry..." She mumbled to him. She wanted to laugh at his childish behavior, but she understood that her dear friend was just missing her this much. "You..." She heard him say, hiccuping. When she pulled away from hugging him to looking him in the face, Cleiv continued his sentence.

"You're still short..." He finished, earning a hard slap on his bicep. He winced at the force given as he laughed at the female's expression. Her face was sour, being insulted by a crying man who seemed to be too cute to be mad at. She huffed and picked up her stuff, stomping out the cafe.

Cleiv, taken by shock stood there before grabbing her wrist and apologizing with a nervous laugh. Of course, as quickly as it came, so did it her small anger disappeared. How can someone ever be angry atsuch an adorable face such as Cleiv's? Besides, he's someone she's been waiting to meet for the past 4 years.

Kara Felisea Andromeda Calei(Kara Felisea A. Calei), 17 years of existence, about to enter her first year of Senior Highschool in, well, obviously Polaris Constell University. She was a half spanish half asian girl whom grew in Russia with her one and only Best Friend, and childhood friend, Cleiv Ash Ferruise Neverland(Cleiv Ash F. Neverland), who was apparently a year older than she was. Both of the young teens had grown close as siblings ever since they were infants. Kara's parents were brutally murdered when she was still months old. The Calei family were closely in related with the House of Neverland, thus Cleiv's parents took her in.

The two sat back on the reserved table Cleiv had sat on while waiting for Kara. Awkward silence stepped in between the two. However was broken by the giggling of the female.

"So, how's school like? I heard... well not heard-- that its extraordinary." Kara asked with curiosity as she leaned forwards.

"Well, its fun. That I guarantee. And get this-- Unlike any other schools out there, this place is awesome!" Cleiv overexagerated as his eyes gleamed with joy. It wasn't everyday you can get to talk about the school, well, you can never.

Kara and Cleiv talked about eachother's adventures or lives throughout their seperation. Kara mostly told him about her trips to different countries. "I've went to Paris, illegally climbed the Eiffel tower just to stargaze. Dont worry, I didn't get arrested." Somehow that fiasco made Cleiv laugh hysterically. Its not everyday you get to hear your bestfriend talk about illegal stuff. Unless its a criminal, then thats a difficult situation.

"Oh yeah. Auntie said to call them from time to time."

After the little to hours of conversation they had, it was time to go back home. The moment they stepped out of the Airport it was twilight. It was rather beautiful to watch the sun set down, as the stars slowly emerge into the sky. Kara was mesmerized no matter how many time she had seen such views, the beauty of it is wonderful.

When she looked up, she saw a bright star. She knew the stars like the back of her hand, and she was sure that wasn't the northstar—Polaris— but it looked similar. "Hey, CA... Has that star always been there?" She asked, suspisciously. The green eyed male looked at her and then after to the direction of her view.

"Uh well.... Its only visible here in this remote island." Cleiv answered with smile that Kara felt like she should take a picture of.

Upon going home into Cleiv family property on the island, which was in fact a large manor, Kara left all jer luggages to the room she insisted on sharing with her best friend. Afterwards she grabbed a bag from her suitcase and asked Cleiv to carry the other one. He was wondering why but nonetheless followed her to the rooftop that he knew not how she figured to find her way up to it.

"Uh... Sea, what's all this?"

"For stargazing, dummy." Kara smirked as she pulled out pieces before puzzling all together. It was a telescope, oddly enough.

Kara Felisea was an Astrophile, those who have a sickness for the stars, planets, or space itself. Throughout her years in experience, she's always been on a look out for the constellations, the movement of planets, and always discivering something new that not even the greatest scientists are blind to. At a young age at 15, she was able to invent something of an alternative telescope she has been wanting to see for herself. The Celestron 21037 Powerseeker 70EQ*—one of the best telescopes for viewing planets. Of course, her version was a little too off from the original one, since she is inexperienced. Atleast she has her own.

"Jupiter, Sea, how did you manage to make this?" Cleiv was astonished by the fact his dear friend managed to make a device he didn't know he can. Maybe she had too much time in her hands that she just had to do it.

Kara didn't bother explaining since she knew Cleiv wouldn't take all the information in one go. She asked him if he could set up the foldable seats anď he excused himself to grab something to eat and drink as they stay on the rooftop. It felt nostalgic. It had been long since they last enjoyed to stay up late, looking at stars.

It felt like seconds, despite it being hours as the two had settled and gazed into the endless darkness and twinkling of the night sky. Kara kept adjusting and moving her telescope to places, taking notes in her journal before actually taking a break.

"Hey CA, its weird." Kara mentions as she took a sip from the hot chocolate Cleiv brought along with a few cookies. The male looked at her with questioning eyes, as her eyes was only diverted to the bright star directly above them. "This star... It never leaves?"

"Oh yeah... Polaris II. It never does. The teachers, well scientists say that it never leaves its place, even in the day. Its like following this island. Odd, right?" He explains as he relaxed cozily in the chair. He explained that the star was the reason why their school was made; they said that the school was an excuse to finding out the mysteries of the star, or a hiding place for secrets.

He explained that the star was lightyears away, quite farther than Icarus*, but nonetheless glowed as bright as the north star. Kara was taking down notes as Cleiv explained. Nothing new of her curious Astrophilia.

Minutes after taking in the information, she began to return back to gazing through the telescope. Something had caught her attention and she immidiately turned the telescope to see what it was.

"CA LOOK AT THIS! LOOK AT THIS!" She exclaimed as she pulled Cleiv out of his comfort to look at the telescope. When he had looked, he never knew what he was supposed to look at. He pulled away and stared at Kara, telling her that whatever she wanted to show her wasn't there.

She gave a disappointed look and gazed back into the telescope, only to not see it again, to her dismay. She frowned and whined like a little girl whose candies or toys were taken away. To Cleiv, its something out of odds and was exceptionally adorable.

He comforted her with offering her a cookie, which she never denied. Food was always a way to calm most people down, he knew her too well too. He knew things she likes and doesn't, he knew her secrets as she knew his. Such bonds since the day they were born are almost impossible to sever too.

"Come on, whatever it was, maybe you were the first person to know about it. Thats amazing too." He complimented as he picked up his stuff and all the other, "And it would be amazing if we get some rest. You're going to school tomorrow, and I have to give you a quick tour when nobody id around."
