"It's so small and so dark. -pants- Are you show you know the way, Firestar?" complained Ravenclaw. "Yes, Ravenclaw. Have faith in your leader." replied Firestar as he walked slowly deeper in the cave. "I don't like the feeling of this place. I'm getting out of here!" hissed Ravenclaw has he trotted back. He knocked down Starpaw as he trotted. "Uh, Ravenclaw? Ravenclaw?" meowed Starpaw wondering if he was left alone. "Starpaw?" called Firestar. "I'm still here." stummered Starpaw as she was a bit scared of how dark it was. "Do you be afraid young warrior. Ravenclaw was just afraid of the power of the Moonstone. Above at the surface, he is a fearless and strong warrior, but down here he is like another warrior." meowed Firestar. "O-okay." replied Starpaw. "Here." Firestar sank his teeth in her scuff and pulled her close to him. "Just follow my scent and stay here and you won't be afraid. Unlike Ravenclaw." joked Firestar. Starpaw kept close and followed his scent, most of the time she would touch his flank to make sure he was there and wasn't taken by some shadow monster. The cave got lighter as Firestar and Starpaw got to the Moonstone. "What do you feel, Starpaw?" asked Firestar. "Only my own curiosity." replied Starpaw. "Good, I must speak with StarClan now. Wait here, I can't be woken prematurely." said Firestar. Firestar layed down and touched his nose with the moonstone. "Wow! It's so pretty! How the moon lights up the stone. I hope everything is okay with Firestar. He looks like he's having a bad dream." Starpaw meowed aloud knowing only she could hear herself. "No, no. This can't happen! Not now." yowled Firestar. Starpaw knew that she couldn't wake her leader up, but he looked like he was having a heart attack. She trotted up to Firestar and sat next to him. "Looks alive to me." mumbled Starpaw to herself. She took a paw and brushed his fur as he shook in his dream. "This looks painful." Starpaw meowed. "AHHH!" yowled Firestar as he jumped to his paws. Starpaw jumped back as well. "Starpaw?" called Firestar. "I know, Firestar. I wasn't mean to move, but you were shaking so I thought you were going to die." replied Starpaw. "No, thank you for that. You woke me up, we must return back to camp at once!" hissed Firestar with fear in his tone. As Firestar and Starpaw exited Mothermouth, Ravenclaw asked, "What did you learn?" Firestar replied with, "We must return to camp at once! I just pray we aren't too late." The 6 cats made half way through their journey. "Hurry up, Graypaw! You're holding us back!" growled Ravenclaw. "Sorry, Ravenclaw. I'm coming!" replied the apprentice. "What did Ravenclaw say when he got out of the cave?" asked Starpaw as she knew he ran like a kit. "He said he wanted to make sure we were still guarding the cave. Why?" answered Bluepaw. "Did you sense anything strange about him?" Starpaw asked again. "The only thing strange was that damp old cave." replied Bluepaw. "He was a little edgy." added Graypaw. "Yet, he isn't the only one." meowed Bluepaw. "What do you mean?" asked Graypaw. "You fur on your neck stands up whenever you're near Ravenclaw these days. You nearly had your soul leave your body when he came out of the cave." hissed Bluepaw as she wondered if Graypaw was hiding something important. "No, it just surprised me. You have to admit it was abit creepy at Mothermouth." meowed Graypaw. "I suppose so." mumbled Bluepaw. The three apprentices quickened their pace to catch up with Ravenclaw and Firestar. "So what's it like inside, Starpaw? Did you see the Moonstone?" asked Bluepaw. "Yeah, I did! It was amazing, it was better than I imagined what it would be. Although, I was hanging by Firestar's flank like a kit." The friends giggled and quickened up a bit. "A loner?" growled Ravenclaw. "There is Barney. He lives near this Twoleg nest." informed Firestar. "I haven't see you in some moons Firestar. How have you been?" wondered the loner. "I'm well, and you? How's the prey been running since the last time we met?" replied Firestar. "Great! The one good thing about living by Twolegs is that you'll always find plenty of rats nearby. And you? You seem to be in a hurry." meowed Barney. "Ah, yes. I just don't like being away from my clan for so long." replied Firestar which was obvious to Starpaw that he was hiding from Barney. "As always, Firestar. You're attached to your clan like a warrior to his mate. I just want to warn about the dogs that live near here. They are normaly free at this time of night. You'd be safer crossing the field of corn over there." replied Barney flicking his tail to the field of corn. "Yes, yes. We already know abou the dogs." Ravenclaw hissed rolling his eyes. "Yes, thank you for telling me. Until next time our paths cross." Firestar meowed. "Bye!" meowed Barney. "Come on, we must get home." said Firestar walking toward the field of corn. "You are actually trusting the words of that loner!" hissed Ravenclaw. "Ravenclaw, Barney is a friend. I would trust him with all my life. You can cut through the yard of Twolegs' if you rather face the dogs, but I'm taking Barney's advice and going this way." growled Firestar as he entered the field of corn. "Ugh, fine." growled Ravenclaw as he followed his leader. "Ravenclaw is sure in a mood." meowed Bluepaw to her friends as they both nodded in agreement and followed Ravenclaw and Firestar. As the cats got deeper in the forest, Starpaw noticed something and meowed, "It seems like prey!" Sweak. Sweak. "What was that!" yowled Bluepaw. "Oh, no." hissed Graypaw when a tons of rats came out. "RATS!" yowled Ravenclaw. "Wow, these rats fight like fury!" hissed Starpaw. "Graypaw! Starpaw! Help!" screamed Bluepaw as she was convered in rat. "Ha! Take that you crow-food eater!" growled Graypaw as he knocked the rats off of Bluepaw. A huge rat was coming up behind Graypaw, but luckly Starpaw yowledas she attacked the huge rat, but she got overtaken as many more came. Growl! Graypaw swiped his paw as the rats overtaking Starpaw and went to fight the ones behind them. Bluepaw bit off many rat heads and turned oto yank that last few off of Starpaw. "There is no use of fighting the rats. There are too many, we have to get out of here. "Ugh, get off!" Bluepaw growled as she threw the rat off and ran to get out. Starpaw was following Bluepaw, but was stopped when Graypaw yowled, "Starpaw! Help!" Starpaw helped Graypaw with hisses of anger. "You two go. I'll hold them off!" ordered Firestar. "But, Firesta-" protested Starpaw. "Go! Don't worry about me." Firestar ordered again with a gaze telling her to run. The two apprentices left while Firestar was left with the rats. With Firestar left on his own, more and more rats came and overtook him. With the little hole to see Ravenclaw he called, "Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw! Help!" However, Ravenclaw went straight past him. He either couldn't hear Firestar or didn't want to. Firestar could barely see now that the rats were all over him. "UGH! Firestar, don't worry! I got ya!" meowed a cat, but Firestar's eyes went black.
