"Cats of ThunderClan," Firestar yowled, "Please come to the Highrock." Strapaw and Graypaw walked to the entrance. "Are you coming, Bluepaw?" asked Graypaw as he looked at Bluepaw with her head stuffed in his fur. "Leave her. I'm sure Firestar will excuse her." meowed Starpaw as she and Graypaw went outside by the Highrock. "It is almost moonhigh and it is once more my duty, much, much too soon to choose the next ThunderClan deputy" Firestar meowed. "Is she going to choose Ravenclaw?" asked Smallear. "Do you think so?" added Mousefur. "Who else could it be? He's our strongest warrior!" hissed Longtail who was tired of all these questions that everyone already knew the answer to. "If you asked me, Ravenclaw should of been chosen long ago. He's the obvious choice." added Darkstripe. "Shush! Show some respect to Yellowfang and Rednose. And keep your jaw shut, too. Firestar is about to continue speaking!" hissed Speckletail who was mad of how lowly they were specking of the last two deputies. "I would say these words by the body of Rednose, so his spirit may hear and approve of my choice. I have not forgotten the cat who avenged the death of Yellowfang and had brought her body back to us." Firestar went on, "ThunderClan needs his that cat more than ever now. I, Firestar, leader of ThunderClan, will announce that Ravenclaw will be the new deputy of ThunderClan. And hopes that StarClan may approve of my choice." As Ravenclaw stepped up to the Highrock the cats started meowing his name. "ThunderClan! I am honored to accept the position of Clan deputy. I never expected to gain such a high rank. By the spirit of Rednose and Yellowfang, I vow to serve you as the bes I can." Ravenclaw meowed to his Clan cats. "Oh, no. He shouldn't have done that, he should of never chosen him!" whispered Graypaw to Starpaw's ear. "What are you talking about, Ravenclaw? Why shouldn't he-" asked Starpaw. "He wanted to be deputy ever since he killed Yellowfang." interupted Graypaw. "So it was Ravenclaw who killed Yellowfang?" meowed Starpaw. "Mhm." agreed Graypaw. Then, Ravenclaw came up behind them without them knowing and hissed, "Are you telling Starpaw about how I protected Yellowfang?" The two apprentices turned around and Starpaw replied, "He was just saying how he wished you have been here to save Rednose as well. That was all he was saying!" Ravenclaw must on an angry face as he growled, "Very well." Ravenclaw walked away towards the warriors' den while Starpaw turned around to see Graypaw no where to be seen. "Graypaw?" Starpaw called. Starpaw spotted Graypaw on the floor below the Highrock curled up mumbling to himself. "-sighs- What are we going to do, StarClam?" asked Starpaw as she knew they had almost or maybe been caught by Ravenclaw. Starpaw looked up to Silverpelt for a sign, just a small sign as they were watching her. Starpaw looked down at her paws then to Bluepaw who was still there with her mentor in the state of grief. Starpaw dragged Graypaw over by the medicine den and slept outside while looking at Silverpelt. 'What will I do to help my friends, StarClan?' asked Starpaw in her head. At dawn, the elders had took Rednose's body to the burial place and Bluepaw helped dig the hole where the great warrior would now rest. "Starpaw, Starpaw! Come on, wake up! I had to carry both you and Graypaw to the apprentices' den at dawn. Firestar called another meeting!" meowed Bluepaw. Starpaw noticed that she had become more cheerful than yesterday. Starpaw followed her friends out of the apprentices' den and went to sit by Highrock. "It's freezing!" meowed Graypaw. Starpaw's tummy growled as she walked. "I can't even remeber the last time we ate. I wonder if we'll have the chance to hunt today." mumbled Starpaw as took her seat. "Just before the battle, our leader had lost one of his lives. Now he only has four of his nine lives left. I'm going to assign a bodyguard to constantly be with her. No cat will be allowed to approach her unless the guards are present. Darkstripe, Longtail you will act as Firestar's guards." ordered Ravenclaw. "Yes, Ravenclaw!" Longtail and Darkstipe mewed at the same time. "We can't talk to our own leader unless a bodyguard is present? That's aburb!" hissed Mousefur. "Of course, Ravenclaw has to choose his two closest friends to guard the leader." growled One-eye. "I-I-I don't like this. It doesn't feel right, it has never been like this before." protested Frostfur with a light and gentle tone in her voice. "Thank you, Ravenclaw for your loyalty, but the clan must understand that I am still here for them. No cat should hesitate to approach me and I am happy to speak to anyone with or without my bodyguard. As the warrior code states, the safety of the clan is more important than the security of any single member. Although, I think that I do not need a bodyguard since I am neither a kit, a queen giving birth, nor a defenseless cat. I am the leader of ThunderClan, but I will accept my deputy's wishes, I will allow this to happen. Now I wish to invite Goldendust to join ThunderClan." announced Firestar. "Goldendust is joing ThunderClan, but she was a ShadowClan cat!" protest Dustpaw. "She was awfully brave at the battle with ShadowClan. She saved all of our kits!" meowed Runningwind. "I think Goldendust would be a lovely addition to our clan." agreed Frostfur. "Her actions last night proved that she is brave and loyal. I she wishes it, we would welcome her as a full memeber of this clan." meowed Firestar with a soft gaze on Goldendust. "I am honored, Firestar. I will accept your offer." replied Goldendust with a smile on her face. "Wow, I can't believe Firestar actually did that. I'm so happy!" meowed Starpaw to Graypaw and Bluepaw. Firestar flicked his tail in silence as he continued, "We successfully defended ourselves against ShadowClan. The Clan is still a great threat. They're a pair up we are in strength and territory. We'll continue having our boundaries patrolled constantly and it is not assumed that the war is over." Firestar stepped back as Ravenclaw stepped forward to speck. "ShadowClan attacked us while we were away from camp. They chose their moment well. How did they know that the camp was so poorly defended? Do they have eyes inside of our camp?" Ravenclaw growled while looking straight at Graypaw. Ravenclaw and Graypaw looked at each other. Ravenclaw's eyes showed disappointment and anger, while Graypaw's eyes showed fear and fear.
