Chapter 24 - Prison Break

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

It was all over the news. Every news channel announced the very news that caused an uproar in the whole of country B.

"FORMER CEO OF LE GRANDE'S ENTERPRISE FREDERICK LEGRANDE WHO WAS JAILED FOR EMBEZZLEMENT ESCAPES FROM THE NATIONAL PRISON"

Desi and her mom sat on their couch. Watching the whole news. This was a smear to their family name. Vanessa cried out her heart to her daughter who was the only person she could confide in right now.

"I know my Freddie, who won't ever bring shame to me. Desi he didn't do it. He loved justice so much. He would never escape from prison especially when he knows that we would suffer it the most." She sobbed continuously in Desi's arm. Hair disheveled. Eyes sunken. Face red. She had been crying ever since she heard the news. It was just a matter of time before the police came knocking on their door.

"Oh my God, they framed him. They must have dragged him out of prison to kill him. Desi they want to kill your father. They want to kill my Freddie. He promised me he would come out of prison, and we would spend our later years together. With our grand children in our arms. They took Nick, now they've taken him too." She cried even more.

"Desi you don't have to go out any more. They'll snatch you away from me. We don't have power anymore. We can't fight back."

Desi was merely silent watching her mom gradually loosing her sanity. They broke her. They had finally broken her. She couldn't even cry anymore. To whom would she cry to. She was still in her train of thoughts when she heard a knock on the door.

After wiping away her tears. She opened the door. She guessed correctly. It was the police. But what shocked her was how her mom. Flew from the couch and threw herself in the arms of one of the police men. Scratching and clawing at them.

"You must find him alright? He means everything to me. It's your job to find my husband. Bring him home safely to me. If not I'll kill myself. Do you understand?" She asked the police with a killing glare.

Whatever question the police came to ask. They couldn't ask anymore. There was no point in asking since it was obvious they had no idea where the escapee went. And even if this crazy woman was just acting. She's damn good at it.

One of the police men gave his card to Desi, who was seemingly the only one with a little sanity left. He could see through her. He had seen similar cases in his field of work so many times. This young girl no longer felt pain. Which was a greater form of insanity.

They left immediately before they walk out with their eyes clawed out.

Desi smiled bitterly. It was just a matter of time before this affected her career. Of course her enemies were always awake.

In Le grande's Enterprise.

"Release to the press that the criminal on the loose is none other than the Father of the so called 'National Goddess' this is going to make the headlines." Daphne ordered her secretary as she laughed hysterically. It was better to finish her off while they were still down. She smiled wickedly to herself.

In Kinston's corporation.

"Mother it's not in my place to help her."

"Shut up you unfilial child. You want my daughter in law to suffer this much. Are you even human?"

"Mother it's left for her to decide if she wants my help. She knows what to do."

He ended the call. He watched the news. She would be in so much pain right now. But she's quite stubborn. It was just a matter of days before she contacted him. She knew so.

Just then he heard a frantic knock on the door and it flew open immediately after that.

"Sir, another news has been released." he brought the Tablet closer so that he could read.

"THE CRIMINAL ON THE LOOSE IS THE FATHER TO THE COUNTRY'S A-LISTING MODEL DESIREE LEGRANDE. THE TITLE NATIONAL GODDESS IS JUST A FACADE."

"Hmm interesting."

Michael said and dropped the Tablet on his desk. And relaxed his back on the chair like it was none of his business.

Humphrey picked up his tablet on the desk, made a swift bow. And left.

Meanwhile the Le grande household was on fire.
