Chapter 27 - THIS HOUSE IS TOO SIMPLE

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

In no distant time they arrived at Heaven Gate residence. Desi stepped out of the car with a straight face. Not bothering to wait for Michael.

The surrounding alone was a sight to behold. The trees were well trimmed. Not too tall and not too small. All shaped into circles. Her eyes went to the garden which was filled with a variety of flowers. Desi loved them instantly.

Michael waited for the young girl to admire the environment as much as she wanted. But when he saw that she was so engrossed in watching the flowers. He signaled for the Butler to take Desi's belongings in. He went in too.

When Desi noticed that Michael had gone in, she dropped the act. She went inside and saw the magnificent living room.

The servants scurried to their duty post while stealing glances at Desi.

Who was she? Master had never brought home any young girl. This had never happened. Some fell in love with her immediately. Some out rightly hated her. Most of them had been preparing themselves for Young Master. They had hoped he would fancy them. So who the hell was this vixen?

Desi noticed the attitude displayed by the servants but she didn't read much meaning into it. Afterall they were just lowly servants.

She wondered where Michael went to. That was so rude of him to abandon her outside. She was just in her thoughts when the butler entered.

"Madam, let me show you to your room." She gave a quick nod and followed.

They got to the entrance and the butler handed the keys to her. She went into the room and was baffled.

This room was totally naked! No decorations, paintings or designs! What was wrong with Michael?

It was just a room with a bed, no bed spread. She walked to the bed and sat down. Totally exhausted. No she wasn't going to unpack. At least not until a month coming. Oh yes, she was that lazy!

Soon she slept off.

She awoke with a slight headache. She wasn't sure if it was the hunger or the noise that was coming from outside. She had to meet Michael. They had a lot to discuss.

She opened the door and the sweet aroma of coconut rice wafted across her nose. Suddenly her stomach growled. She felt embarrassed and quickly peeked around. Making sure no one saw her. She decided to keep her cool and walk down without making her hunger obvious. She was halfway down the stairs when it happened.

What was that smell? Stewed pepper chicken? The last straw just got broken! She revealed her super powers and flew down the stairs. She hadn't been to the kitchen before but her powerful nose led her straight to it.

She saw that the door was opened. And no one was in. On the cooker the pot laid. Well.... Several pots. Her eyes shone with greed. She wasn't going to have just one. She was going to taste all of them!

She opened up the first pot. Inside it the sauté vegetables glistened. She smiled and opened the next. Sliced tomatoes. She smiled and the next the rice. And finally the last. The stewed pepper chicken sat there in its full glory. Desi basked in happiness.

She searched for the plates but she couldn't find them. She searched again but she didn't find it. She cried out in frustration. Then she saw it. Her saviour. On the cabinet laid a porcelain bowl that was probably used for hand washing.

She picked it up and poured the whole of the stewed pepper chicken in it, made herself comfortable on the floor, and fed like a wolf.

"What are you doing?"

She raised her head up from the bowl when she heard the voice. Standing outside the kitchen door was Michael and some other people she could recognize as the chefs. All were staring intently at her. Some had a look of pity. Some a look of disgust and lastly, the one with the unreadable expression.

"Oh boy, this is really bad" Desi thought.
