Before the prison doctor discharged Jax rather distastefully, he actually had the heart to feed the latter some bland cereal.
Either he did it on his own accord, since he finally found his lost humanity or he simply kept the words of sub jailer in his mind, either way Jax wasn't kicked out with an empty stomach like the last time.
During these two days, Jax could say that he had enjoyed VIP services, as he got to have the small bathroom in the infirmary as well as the whole infirmary itself, all to himself, as there were no other in- patients for the past few days. Ignoring the heartless doctor of course.
However, it was past morning routine and breakfast time when he finally walked out of the infirmary. Meaning, all inmates would be wandering around in the ground currently.
And he didn't know whether the sub jailer had actually took the bait and punished Hank and his minions or not. So, in order to avoid any unforseen confrontations, Jax chose to retrace his steps back to his match box of a prison cell.
He indeed slept most of the time during these past two days and was not in the mood to sleep again, but it was the same case as 'Situation demands'.
However, he was not sure he could surely avoid the rougish man and his henchmen even if he hid in his cell, as they even managed to get him into trouble just after he stepped into his prison cell last time.
But he couldn't risk wandering outside either, so he chose to be vigilant and slowly walked toward the confinement block. And when he didn't see any familiar faces in the corridor, Jax was so relieved that he didn't even notice the grey clothed ball who was approaching him speedily, as he hastily walked toward his room.
But, it seemed that Jax was not as lucky as he was the last time, as he was stopped even before he could step into his match box by the very round figure whom he didn't even bother to acknowledge earlier.
Jax felt like getting into his own cell was no different than playing a round of hurdling now. Why not? Jax had to overcome so many obstacles in the form of these humans who wouldn't let him have some peaceful time to himself.
From his grey uniform, and the absence of the rectangular slab on his right pocket, Jax concluded that the fat man is one of the guards in this prison.
The young man thought that the guard was here on the orders of the sub jailer. Maybe, the officer still haven't finished with his interrogation, that he sent someone to fetch him for further cross- questioning.
But, the fat guard just grinned at him, his yellowish teeth on full display, which successfully crept out the youth.
Jax couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, prompting the man to state his purpose in preventing himself from doing his own thing.
"Hi Jax, I'm Marco." The man said as if he was some well- known celebrity in this Nation. But, Jax clearly knew that he had never met the person in front of him. Contrarily, he felt the name was somewhat familiar, but couldn't recall where he heard it before.
If Nexus were a human being, it would have shot this ignorant host to death by now, for actually forgetting his own mission. But it did realize that this youth had never taken all of this very seriously. Its efforts were all in vain.
However, before it could scream at the young man to make him remember who Marco was, the very target of theirs spoke again, rendering both the host and the system speechless at the same time.
"I know about the system." The man stated in his scratchy disturbing voice. And this time, Jax finally understood what people meant by saying 'Realization hitting hard in one's face'
How could he actually forget that name? Hadn't he been hearing the system grumbling about killing a person named 'Marco' for the past two days? He even mentioned the system...
Wait...
He actually knew about the system?
What the Hell!
Did he also know that the system actually asked Jax to kill this Marco guy, who might very well be himself, to complete some first task?
[He is your target, but I don't know whether he knew his head had been pinned for a death mission.]
Nexus supplied, with whatever information it had and concluded that could help the young man.
But Jax wasn't very interested in responding to it, as he completely chose to ignore everything that was echoed in his ears. He need some peace of mind after all.
Jax then stepped aside a little, so that the fatty guard could walk into his cell and they could have a proper conversation. After all, they couldn't talk in the middle of the corridor in a prison about some system and killing people, right?
"What do you know about the system?" Jax questioned Marco as soon as they both were out of ear shot for the people outside, of course in a hushed voice.
"All of it." Marco also remarked in a lowered tone, but his voice started sounding squeaky instead of scratchy, much to Jax's discomfort. He mumbled a minute of silent prayer for his poor ears.
"And you should not let it latch unto you for a long time, else you would become a killing machine with the sole purpose of taking people's lives." The man named Marco added swiftly before Jax could ask another question.
The young man stared at him for a second before opening his mouth again. "What should I do?"
Right after these few words left his lips, he heard two entirely different answers from two separate entities, one from the person before him and the second from the voice in his head.
"YOU SHOULD GET RID OF IT BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!"
[NO JAX, YOUR FIRST TARGET DELIVERED HIMSELF TO YOUR DOORSTEP, GRAB THE OPPORTUNITY AND KILL HIM NOW.]
