"I will join you."
Lucifers smile stretched wide
"splendid-"
"on one condition."
He lifted his eyebrow in surprise
"oh and what might that be?"
"You must help me save dantalis."
"Reece just give it up already hes probably dead."
Kail had entered just behind Lucifer I scowled in his direction.
"hes alive I know it."
Kail made to fire back when Lucifer held up his hand to silence him.
Never loosing eye contact he again pulled out his athame and sliced the same wrist
"may I have your word on that?"
I took the athame and did the same as before.
"I will join you Lucifer as an angel of hell only after Dantalis is safe and kept alive."
Joining hands as before the same light flashed as the deal was struck.
"You made the right choice Reece, just leave it to me you will be reunited with my son in no time."
Turning to Kail he ordered
"gather the fallen lords"
I stared at him
"The fallen?"
Lucifer smiled his most charming smile as he answered
"Did you really think it would be as simple as just flying up to heaven and taking Dantalis back. Tsk tsk it will take carful planing we also need to know if you are the one mentioned in the prophecy and what your powers are. The last thing we need is any surprises when we are attempting a rescue."
I sighed he was right plus I had just sold my soul to the devil what did I expect. I too want to know if I have some hidden power and if it could be used to help save Dantalis i would need to know how to use it.
"Come I will show you to your new room"
"New room?"
"Of corse it has already been prepared for you "
"What about Dantalis?"
"Patience Reece all in due time I gave you my word I will do everything in my power to rescue him,
but I will warn you it will not be easy there is a lot to do before we even think about storming the castle as they say. In the meantime you may stay here since it will be your home too, soon enough."
We walked side by side, down corridor after corridor in silence the whole time I felt his eyes on me til finally he spoke.
"I must ask..."
He grabbed my hand to stop us walking
"What is between you and my son?"
My cheeks turned red at the question it was a simple enough question yet when I thought about it I couldn't seem to find an answer.
I hadn't known him for long and yet i couldn't picture my life without him. Sure I was mad at him when I changed but who wouldn't be he was sent to kill me.
Lucifers voice snapped me out of my thoughts
"It's ok you don't have to answer I think I understand."
Understand what? Even I didn't understand, everything was still new to me yet it was so confusing and frustrating. All I knew was that I had to get him back and if I had to fight for Lucifer to do that then that's what I would do.
Finally arriving at what would be my new home lucifer opened the door to reveal a lavish room complete with its own bathroom and sitting area there was even a desk. Looking in you wouldn't even think that we were in the underworld.
"Here we are it's all yours if you need anything one of my demons will be stationed outside."
I looked to him suspiciously.
"Am I a prisoner?"
"Not at all my dear she will be here for your own protection you are still unpledged some of my more how to put it...unpleasant demons might take advantage of your power. Now I will leave you to get aquatinted with your new home."
Here he paused
"Please don't hesitate to see me if you need anything."
I nodded
"All I want is Dantalis back."
"Of corse. I will send for you when the time comes in between fell free to explore. your guard will show you anywhere you want to go."
I stared at the closed door long after he left thinking about everything he had said. my power? I didn't even know what my power was I mean yea sure I was stronger faster I had the skills to fight but my power? I shook my head if I was this child of prophecy wouldn't I know how to use this power? Even more confusing is wouldn't I know what it is?
I recalled when my wings had glowed I had felt so angry at everything and every one the frustration seeped into my very soul til I felt like it would explode. Was that my power and if it was what wouldve happened if Dantalis hadn't calmed me down?
I didn't want to think about it but I couldn't help the thoughts swirling in my head.
My stomach growled eager to stop my confusion I opened the door intending to try find something to eat forgetting that there was a guard on my door.
"Can I help you?"
The demon before me was not what I was expecting, she was beautiful her hair a bright red done up in a Viking style. She had a slim figure but lean like a warrior. She had tattoos down one side of her arm and down the opposite leg, some sort of tribal design that I felt suited her to a tea. Her yellow eyes stared back at me waiting for an answer.
"Hello earth to Unpledged angel."
She waved a hand in front of my face to get my attention.
"Oh sorry I just wondered if you could show me where to get something to eat."
"That depends,"
I stared at her
"On what?"
"On what you wanna eat hunni the dinner tonight is human intrails."
I almost gaged, she started laughing
"Reece I'm kidding come on I'll show you to the dining hall."
My body relaxed a little still unsure of her.
"Thank god you had me worried there,"
She put her arms around my shoulders
"come on although I wouldn't mention him around here if I were you."
It took me awhile to realise what she was talking about til it hit me that she was talking about the word god. My human life was still fresh sometimes it was hard to get out of human sayings and habits.
As we walked she talked non stop about what I have no idea I think she just liked the sound of her own voice it was perfect though cause it accomplished what I wanted and kept me from living inside my head.
"So your the daughter of Gabriel what's he like I hard he's hella strong and can make his wings solid using them as a shield."
"Yes he can but I don't know much about him except what he passed down to me. I've technically never met him and I don't ever want to."
She looked to me waiting for me to explain
"He killed my mum,"
"Wow What a dick no wonder you hate him how anyone can take a life without reason is beyond me."
Her reaction surprised me everything I knew about demons was that they were evil. The things they did was the reason they were sent to hell. Yet here was a demon souly against murder.
"Oh I just realised we havent been introduced yet now I know your name but mines Angelica. now I know what your thinking a demon with Angel in her name let's just say my parents had an ironic sense of humour."
I held out my hand
"Pleased to meet you."
She shook it smiling widely
"I think we're going to get along great."
Entering the dinning hall it was packed with various demons and dark angels alike. Some had horns, some tails even some with scales and every one of them stopped and stared the moment we entered.
Angelica sighed beside me
"Nothing to see here get back to your food dumbarses."
Slowly they started returning to their food
"Sorry about that it's not every day an Unpledged angel is welcomed into hell."
"It's fine."
"Come on they cooked my favourite."
Her confidence and bubbly attitude made me think maybe I had misjudged everyone, Angelica didn't seem evil at all. Maybe joining the underworld wouldn't be so bad after all.
As we ate Angelica talked on and on about herself and how she grew up in hell with loving parents the more she spoke of her childhood the more I realised that maybe those who were in hell were unjustly put here and that they had every right to want to a place in heaven.
Just as I was starting to like being in hell and the fact that I had found a new friend someone sat at the Table beside me.
"Well looks like you and Angelica are having fun."
I groaned Looking at kail.
"We were until you sat down."
Angelica hit kail on the back of the head.
"Buzz off jerk can't you see this is a private conversation."
"What the fuck was that for you she devil."
"For disturbing us and for forcing Reece to kiss you."
I had only just told her of our encounter when I first arrived.
"She was asking for it."
Angelica hit him again
"Ow stop it!"
"Your such a dick Kail no wonder she doesn't want you now be a good little dog and go dig your self a grave and die in it."
I laughed so hard my drink almost came out my nose.
He scowled as he stood up and left, Angelica and I laughing so hard we almost fell off our chairs.
"Thanks for that."
"Any time kails so caught up in trying to be better then his brother he makes it so easy to shut him down."
"So you know Dantalis?"
"Of corse everybody here knows Dantalis imagine the son of lucifer Angel of hell joining heaven it was quite the scandal."
I hadn't realised how big a deal it was that Dantalis choose heaven over hell. I mean he said that he only did it to stop the darkness inside him but still his father is lucifer that can't have been easy knowing your son chose the side that would one day lead to them fighting against each other.
The whole way back to my room I thought about Dantalis and how much I wanted to know everything about him perhaps i could ask Angelica what he was like.
"Angelica... what was Dantalis like before he chose heaven?"
Her face darkened
"Why do you want to know?"
I shrugged
"I'm just curious I mean he was sent on a mission to kill me it would be smart to learn everything I can about him."
Satisfied with my answer she smiled
"Phew for a second there I thought you were gonna say you were into him what a mistake that would've been. can you imagine? it would've been worse if you were mated to him."
Her laughter echoed through the room not noticing my shock and confusion at her words. Is that what this feeling was? Is that the reason why I couldn't stand the thought of him being stuck in heaven being punished for refusing to kill me? Is that the reason why he couldn't kill me?
All these questions left me even more confused about my feelings towards him how can you be mated to someone and not know. I knew that angels all had one soulmate that they were destined to be with some lived their entire life without finding that one true soulmate. Some settled for less when they didn't find them.
I shook my head surely I would know if I was mated to him. Angelica turned to me quickly i hid my feelings.
"Well what do you want to know?"
I shrugged
"I don't know anything you can tell me I guess"
"Well the truth is I cant really tell you much since he kind of kept to himself always in a bad mood it was as if he carried the weight of the world on his shoulders. However no one ever dared mess with him everyone knew he was cursed."
She stopped to look at me as her eyes shadowed
"I guess you know about the demon that's inside him?."
She made quotation marks with hers hands, touching my neck where Dantalis had tried chocking me I nodded
"Well there was this one time when Kail had captured an angel that had been sent to spy on lucifer I think her name was Katianna anyway as a warning to any other spies from heaven he mutilated her cuting of her wings and ripped out her heart it was horrible."
I knew this story but hearing it from Angelica had proven that Dantalis was telling the truth it was Kail that had killed her not Dantalis.
"Well when Dantalis found out what happened to her he was furious the thing that lives inside him erupted and he went crazy. He attacked Kail and nearly killed him it took ten of lucifers strongest demons to stop him from killing him. It took Kail months to recover. I mean Kail has always hated his brother but after that his hatred went deeper."
She shook her head
"Let's just say I wouldn't wanna get on Dantalis's bad side, well that is to say Soneillons bad side anyway."
"Soneillon?"
"The demon inside Dantalis of corse. Soneillon the demon of hatred towards enemies. He's one nasty demon and one of the strongest since he draws power from hatred."
My mind reeled to finally put a name to the darkness inside Dantalis. No wonder the only thing that could keep it at bay was joining heaven.
Seeing Dantalis through someone else's eyes made me realise that his story was far more complicated then I had realised . Yes I had seen his dark side and what it could do but that wasn't Dantalis. I had also seen his good side it wasn't his fault he was cursed with a demon.
It was then that Kail barged into the room.
"What the fuck Kail dont you know how to knock?"
he sneered at Angelica
"bite me bitch."
Angelica growled as her true face showed she had sharp pointed teeth and her face changed into red scale like skin and her ears formed points at thier ends.
Face already back to normal she turned to me
"ill just be outside clearly the mutt wants to talk to you."
Leaving she growled one last time at Kail and closed the door.
"i hate that demon."
"why becuase she doesnt take your shit?"
He chuckled
"no.. because she's to good for the likes of the underworld."
his answer surprised me but i didnt have time to question it before he continued
"Come on we have a mission."
"mission?"
"you want to help get Dantalis back yes?"
I jumped up from the bed eagerly.
"of corse."
"well lets go."
"Where?"
"ill tell you on the way now hurry up."
together we left my room i glanced quickly at angelica on the way out she waved good bye leaving in the opposite direction.
"Whats the plan?"
"We have to capture archangel Azrael."
