Once back in the underworld I placed Azraels body in the cell that had been made for him then turned to Reece who looked dead on her feet. It was no surprise that she could use angelfire being the product of two archangels but the power behind it not even Michael could use angelfire like that she really was something.
However the way it took over troubled me I looked at her wings now mostly black again. The fiery tips had completely engulfed them til her whole body became fire. I could still feel the stinging on my hands from her touch.
"What?"
She asked noticing my stare.
"Nothing....you should get some rest you look like your about to fall over."
"I'm fine."
She waved me off Til the action made her waver. I took her shoulders.
"Your not fine your not used to your powers yet you need to rest."
She pushed me away
"Get off me Kail I said I'm fi-"
Before she could even finish she began to fall, quickly I caught her lifting her into my arms her wings hanging loose.
"Put me down."
She tried and failed to fight me
"For once in your life let me help."
She looked away then slowly nodded giving me permission as I carried her towards her room. Still turned away from me I stared at her face while I carried her. She had beauty in the way her hair smelled of honeysuckle. Her eyes drew you in with a mixture of innocence and yet of someone who had been through too much in her short life as an angel. Even the slight hint of freckles on her cheeks was mesmerising she was exquisite in every way.
"Stop looking at me like that."
I hadn't even noticed she was facing me til she spoke.
"Like what?"
"Like you want to devour me."
I chuckled
"What makes you think I don't you do taste Devine from what I remember."
She groaned
"Don't remind me."
"Why is it so different now? before you changed you were quite happy to have me in your bed."
"I was using you for sex plus that was before I knew who you were."
I sighed Stopping in the corridor
"What are you doing?"
"Reece what side I'm on shouldn't matter look around have you not made a deal with my father to join the underworld how is that any different? Soon we will be on the same side. Now that you know who I am and that we will be on the same side does that not say something?"
She stared back at me seeming to find something in my face. For what seemed like hours she stared not saying anything.
I sighed
"It's Dantalis isn't it?"
She looked away
"Why is it that any time I find something that's mine he takes it away from me."
She snapped her head back
"I was never yours to begin with nor am I Dantalis's I belong to no one but myself."
"That's where your wrong Reece soon you will belong to my father. You don't even realise what you have done."
Her wings flared with her emotions
"I did what I had to do."
"Then your a fool all you did was give my father what he wanted and for what for my brother who will turn on you the moment his demon inside him takes control."
She forced herself out of my arms wings flaring in anger.
"He's stronger then you think."
"Oh I know how strong he is but that does not change the fact that he is cursed with one of the strongest demons known even he can't fight it forever."
She clenched her fists
"This is the very reason why you will never have me again Kail your need to belittle others I get it your on the side of evil but that doesn't mean you have to be a dick. Leave me alone Kail I can get myself to my room."
She started to leave quickly I grabbed her hand, she tried to escape but her exhaustion made her weak.
"Look I'm sorry but I'm only trying to make you see Dantalis will only bring you pain he can not escape his fate. It was my father who put the demon inside him I don't know why but he is planning something you mustn't trust Dantalis."
Her eyes widened
"Lucifer cursed him how could he do that to his own son."
"My father is pure evil Reece always Dantalis was the favourite stronger faster everything I was not sure I am strong I'm his son aswell but not like Dantalis. He has power beyond what is in a normal angel much like yourself I can not tell you why he did it only that he did. Please believe me when I say that I only want what's best for you."
"How do I know you won't do the same how do I know you won't turn on me aswell use me for my power just like everyone else. I'm not stupid Kail I know lucifer only agreed to save Dantalis because it gives him what he wants and that's my power. You could just want me to get back at your brother!"
She yelled this last part
I placed my hand on her face
"Because I lo-"
"Don't Kail please."
But she didn't move away from my hand slowly I stepped closer millimeters away from her I paused. Still she didn't move she seemed frozen in time so I did it I pressed my lips to hers. She didn't move at first then her hand lifted to tangle in my hair as she responded to my touch.
I could feel her warring emotions in the kiss she wanted it just as much as me, til something snapped in her.
Suddenly she ripped herself away her hand going to her lips. Shaking her head she whispered
"Don't do that again."
Frustrated at her I gritted my teeth she kissed me back she can not deny that.
"Why because you liked it? You kissed me back I know you feel something for me."
I grabbed both her hands this time and tried to kiss her again she pulled away.
"I said don't."
"I don't understand you Reece why do you keep fighting what you obviously feel."
She shook her head to deny what I was saying
"Just face it Reece we were meant to be together why don't you just give in?"
She stared at me frustration anger sadness all these emotions in her face finally saying the four words that would hit me the hardest.
"Because your not him."
With that she turned and ran away.
My fists clenched at her words Dantalis my dear brother, always him. I had given up long ago to try best him in our fathers eyes but now he has taken the one thing I have wanted for myself my entire life. Well i will not let him win if I have to kill him to have her then that's what I'll do.
"Kailion!"
My fathers voice echoed down the hall
"Come I want to know everything that happened in capturing Azrael."
Putting aside my anger for now I followed my father to the room where the fallen lords had gathered.
I told him everything from start to finish and that it was Reece that had taken down Azrael and what she could do with angelfire.
"My my my she has exceeded our expectations this is a surprise I had wondered if she was the child of prophecy at all. Fate smiles upon us this time. Thank you Kail you may go."
I started towards the door my father spoke my hand on the door knob.
"Oh and by the way stay away from her I'll not warn you again."
My mind went back to his earlier words
"But you said-"
He cut me off laughing
"Oh dear you thought I meant you the idea is humerus. No Kail she is not meant for you it's a wonder you have not noticed then again you were always much slower then Dantalis."
"I don't understand."
"She is his mate."
My eyes widened in shock my fists clenched in anger
"You lie!"
"Why would I lie I could not have hoped for more now do as I say do not touch her again Kail. go we will start with Azrael tomorrow Reece will help."
I thought about her reaction to hurting Azrael now my father wanted her to help get information from him was he insane.
"Don't you think it's too soon for h-"
"No I do not and don't question me she will help she will do anything to get Dantalis back she just doesn't know it yet. I intend to take advantage of that so never let her know that capturing Azrael had nothing to do with getting Dantalis back."
I left him to his scheming closing the door.
Once outside I paused shes his mate! Then I recalled her in my arms but she is unmarked there was still hope. An unmarked female could still be swayed to another. How stupid of you Dantalis to hand her over to me without marking her that will be your biggest mistake, she will be mine.
