Lothor tightened his grip on the knife, pressing it farther into my neck and I inhaled sharply. He then ran his tongue up my neck and I could tell that Sythyon's anger had reached the breaking point. Lothor turned back to Sythyon with a smirk. "It looks like even after all these years, you are still incapable of saving her."
I tried to move but I couldn't. 'No! I can't let this happen again! Move! I have to...' I thought continuing to be frozen as a single tear escaped my eye and slid down the side of my face. Sythyon cenched his jaw and spoke though his teeth. "Not this time."
Suddenly, black smoke started to emitt from off of his skin, and deep red cracks appeared on his body, the sound of breaking glass following it. His pale skin started to turn grey, then to black. He then blinked, but when he opened his eyes his once bright yellow irises had been replaced with a glowing blood red. The restraints on his arms then shattered into pieces as soon as he moved them.
I felt a slight pain as he did that, but I couldn't be happier that he did. He stood up in his new form, and I noticed that he had grown a lot larger than he already was. 'I-Is this what happens when the most powerful being in the world gets angry?! And I thought he was scary before!'
Lothor was just as surprised as I was, and probably didn't believe that Sythyon had become so powerful. It's possible that he did think that, because if he didn't, he wouldn't have provoked him. Sythyon only had to flinch in order for the knife in Lothor's hand to fly out of his grip and hit the wall. I fell to my knees holding my neck and Sythyon hit Lothor with his tail, shooting him into the back wall cracking it.
Lothor didn't seem to be in any pain, but there was more than fear on his face when Sythyon lowered himself onto all fours and walked towards him growling in the back of his throat through his sharp demon teeth. I had never thought of Sythyon as much of a demon more than in this moment. His hand then slammed Lothor's head against the wall by his neck and Sythyon stared into his eyes. "Didn't expect me to be able to surpass unicorn magic did you?"
His voice shook me. It had become more demonic and low, the sound of it echoing in my head. Lothor looked at him in anger. "I didn't even expect you to be able to achieve complete demon form. Not even father could do that. I must've pissed you off quite a big deal."
Sythyon smiled evilly but said nothing. Lothor started to shake from how tight Sythyon's grip around his neck was, and from the pain of having his claws slowly being pushed farther into his skin. Somehow he managed to laugh. "Fine. I won't waste my time here. After all, I still have a siren to mark."
My eyes widened as grey smoke surrounded him. "No!" But before I could stand, Lothor had already disappeared. We both remained frozen in silence for a moment still trying to process what just happened. I stood up impulsively, barley getting out two words before I fell down again from the weakness in my body. "He escaped...! Ah!"
But, to my surprise, I didn't hit the cold floor. I opened my eyes and saw that Sythyon had caught me in his arms. For being in such a powerful form, he was surprisingly warm and soft.
His chest plate and the armor on his torso had fallen off after he transformed, so there was only a cape around his shoulders. I wrapped my arms around his waist and nuzzled myself in his soft cape. I haven't been so close to him in so long, and after what just happened I couldn't stop myself from wanting his embrace so much that I didn't think that I would ever let him go.
He hugged me back tight. "I'm sorry I let him escape." I was still thrown off by his voice, but was getting used to it. I then thought about Cienar and what could possibly be happening to him. I pushed the thought out of my mind in order to stop myself from crying again. "Don't worry. We'll save Cienar no matter what."
I lifted my head to look up at Sythyon and he was looking down at me with his newly glowing red eyes. I blinked. "Complete demon form huh?" He smiled softly and brushed my hair out of my face. I realized that his hand was bigger than my face and I stopped breathing for a second.
He answered me. "Sorry I wasn't able to do this earlier. I wasn't angry enough until the memory of that day started to repeat itself." Slight irritation entered his expression as he continued. "And then that bastard licked you. He sealed his fate the moment he did that."
I sighed sinking farther into his chest. "Why can't you two just get along...? Brothers aren't supposed to kill each other." Sythyon raised an eyebrow. "You do know he literally just tried to kill you five minutes ago right?" I looked away. "I do. But that doesn't change all those happy memories we had together..."
Sythyon's eyes widened and he placed a hand on my cheek turning my face back to look at him. "How did you...? Do you, remember that?" I looked at him in surprise then avoided his gaze. "That's why I screamed before. I remembered...Everything..." Sythyon's shock multiplied and I could see the realization of the reason behind my holding the back of my neck in pain cross his face.
He slid his hand behind the curve of my neck where I held it. I could see pain and anger behind his eyes as he spoke. "He's hurt you so much, but now I'm strong enough to protect you. I just wish that... I was able to when you needed me the first time..." He closed his eyes and pressed his forehead to mine. I placed a hand on his cheek and closed my eyes as well.
"I never expected you to protect me. Even if you still couldn't now, that wouldn't change the fact that I have always and will always love you." Without another word, Sythyon kissed me slowly, pulling away a moment after. He opened his eyes to look into mine and spoke softly only a few inches away from my face. "You have my heart. If I ever give you nothing more than what you desire, or fail to protect you with everything I have, you have my permission to break it."
I stared at him in surprise and he continued as if he didn't expect me to respond to that either. "We should continue this subject after we save your friend. Do you think you can stand?" I snapped back into reality and stood up nodding.
I still felt weird, but I didn't fall again. Sythyon stood up after me, towering me in height. "Lothor has the horn from your previous body. There's no question that it's power would affect your soul now. Which is probably the reason why you remembered what you did. We need to get it back, otherwise you'll become weaker the more Lothor uses it."
