I was confused and worried at the same time. "Are you okay?! What happened?!" Sythyon got up steadily and laughed. "Don't worry. I'm fine, I'm just a little tired." A guard looked at him in disbelief. "A little?! You haven't eaten or slept since you're human went missing!" I was stunned. 'He hasn't?! Was he really that worried about me?'
I felt guilty the more I heard. Sythyon's smile faded. "So I was caught red handed huh?" He stood up and placed a hand on my head. "Well she's back now so there's no more reason to worry. Leave us be. I want time alone with my human." The guards nodded and left.
I stood in silence and avoided his eyes. I didn't want to get swallowed in his icy irises. His smile returned and he moved his hand from my head to my hand. I felt blush rush to my cheeks as he led me down the halls. It kinda felt nice to be somewhere familiar. After all, I did make this my home after Sythyon decided to marry me. We went up the stairs and I realized that he wasn't heading in the direction of my room. 'Where is he taking me?'
I didn't say anything and waited to see where he was going. We approached a room with two large doors and Sythyon didn't hesitate to open them. When we stepped inside I realized where we were. The room was twice the size of my old one yet it was completely furnished. There was a large bed in the middle of the room against the back wall with black and red silk sheets and carvings covering the large black frame. There were carpets in many places of the floor and banners around the walls. There was a desk in one side of the room, and a couch with some chairs in the other. This was Sythyon's room.
I got nervous and he let go of my hand. I turned to finally look at him. "W-Why are we here?" He turned around and closed the doors behind him. "Don't be afraid. I am not in the best of health at the moment so I will not be making love to you tonight." My blush deepened. 'D-Does that mean he will when he feels better?'
He turned around and smiled obviously noticing my embarrassment. He took my hand again and walked to the bed. "I just wanted to speak with you." He sat down and pulled me on his lap. "Whoa!" He wrapped his arms around me and rested his chin on my shoulder. "I missed you. Alathera." I blinked. "Alathera?" He held me tighter. "Yes. That was your name when you were mine before."
His hand went up to graze my shoulder. "I wanted to tell you this alone so I left that part out back on Devil's island. You were a unicorn in your past life. But you were also my unicorn." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I was still processing that I was a unicorn in another life, now he's telling me that I was his unicorn in that life too?
He sighed. "I recognized you're soul when I first met you but I didn't know for sure that you were the same Alathera I knew until the last day I saw you. Alathera was my mare, she was special to me and I was the only one she let see and ride her. I can sense her inside of you and I knew that you came back to me. But this time in a form that I can be closer to." I was surprised hearing this from him but a big part of me believed that what he was saying was true. Alathera had always been inside me, I just never realized it until recently.
I didn't disbelieve him, though this was a lot to take in. "...I felt like I knew you too." There was a small moment of silence before I realized. 'Wait, unicorns are immortal unless killed just like demons and angels. If I was reincarnated, I must've...' I turned to face him. "H-How did I die?" His expression turned grim. "...Lothor." I studied his face and found the sadness in the memory behind his eyes. "What is it?" He looked away from me.
"My younger brother. His name is Lothor. He is the very definition of evil, and lives to make me suffer." He waited a moment to continue. "It was a thousand years ago, the last time you and I were together. Being so long ago, I wasn't as powerful as I am now. But Lothor was. The moment he found out I cared for something, he would destroy it. That's why I did everything in my power to protect you, but, it wasn't enough." His eyes became glossy and it was hard not to follow. I hated seeing him like that.
He closed his eyes. "He found you, and chained me to the wall so I had to watch as he cut off you're horn and, and kill you..." A tear fell down his cheek and I wiped it from him with my thumb. He put his hand over mine and looked into my eyes with sadness. "Once I surpassed him, and became king, I banished him to the human world. But that of course, couldn't bring you back." He moved his face to kiss my palm and a small smile crossed his lips. "I thought I lost you again... But now I have you at last. And I will never let you go."
I could feel my heart breaking for him in my chest. 'How could I have believed such horrible lies after all we've been through together? This is why I fell in love with you. I remember now. It was always you. I came back for you.'
I was silent not knowing what to say until I started to wonder. "...Where? Where is your brother now?" He looked at me again with a hint of curiosity in his expression. "In the human world as I said. I heard he became a lord of human trafficking in the black markets." His explanation had me stunned. "W-What did he look like...?"
He was confused with my questions but answered me anyway. "He um, looks kinda like me but with black hair, orange eyes, and scumbag written all over him." I couldn't believe my ears. "Do you know anyone he works with?" He tilted his head.
"I do actually, but I wouldn't call the guy anything more than an acquaintance. He's just as rotten as my brother. And you can tell by the red hair and dirty look. Dagger, I believe his name was." I froze. I couldn't move I was paralyzed. Sythyon got closer to me and moved his hands to my arms. "Silvera? Why are you asking me this? Are you alright?" I found my breath and looked down with horror. "The men, who took me... They were the same two men that fit your description." He froze as well. I forced myself to continue talking. "Lothor tried to kill me again..."
