Cienar smacked Arine on the back. "Relax. You get too jealous." Arine pushed him away. "What was that now? I do not!" They continued to argue like I wasn't there and I turned to see Ikko sitting on the railing on the other side of the ship, looking to the island. I walked over to him and he turned surprised as soon as he saw me. "Oh. Hey." I leaned against the railing and smiled. "Hi. Is everything okay? You seem lost."
He shook his head and turned back to see the island again. "I'm fine. I just want to get there already so I can get out of this body. Why do ships have to go so slow?" I patted his head. "Don't worry. We'll be there in a little while, and you'll be back to your normal obnoxious self in no time!"
He smiled a little and I pinched his cheek again. He hit my hand away. "Hey! Stop that!" I laughed and rubbed his head, messing up his hair. "But you're so cute!" He then smiled evilly. "Just you wait. Once I'm back in my old body, you're going to get it!" I blinked. "...What are you going to do?" He crossed his arms. "That's for me to know, and you to find out." I rolled my eyes knowing that Ikko was harmless, and before I knew it we were arriving at Devil's island.
We docked on the beach where we got off to say goodbye to the pirates. Arine, Cienar and Ikko were already off the ship and I was the last to leave. The captain was leaning against the railing as I was about to go, and I stopped to turn to him. "Thanks for everything! I hope I see you again!" He looked to me surprised and I continued.
"Make sure you get more medicine on that hand while I'm gone." He raised an eyebrow. "I can take care of myself! I'm not a baby!" I laughed. "You're as greedy as one though!" He glared at me, but blush immediately rushed to his face when I kissed his cheek. He was so shocked he almost fell back. I got off the ship and waved goodbye. He smiled, and turned to tell his men to cast off.
I was happy that we ended up friends, and that they helped us to get here. I rushed to the others and Arine's mouth dropped. "What was that?! You kissed the guy that assaulted you?!" I couldn't help smiling. 'Arine is always so protective of me. It's cute.' Cienar crossed his arms. "Can't argue with him there." I started to walk ahead on the black sand beach. "He was nice in the end and that's all that matters." Ikko rushed up to my side. "Seriously. You could be a children's book."
I blinked. 'I never thought of it that way before...' Cienar and Arine followed, and I started to wonder as I turned my head to see the ship disappearing in the distance. "So... How are we going to get back?" Arine smiled. "I'm sure Felix wouldn't mind giving us a ride." Cienar raised an eyebrow. "Who's Felix?" Arine continued like he didn't hear him ask. "But we're definitely going to have to give him the book first. He may be my old friend, but he's still the sorcerer who stole my sister." We all stopped dead in our tracks.
Cienar looked at him even more confused. "The evil sorcerer, is, your old friend?" I couldn't have said it better myself. Arine nodded. "Yep." Ikko turned around to scold him. "What kind of sorcerer name is Felix?! And If he's your friend, then why the hell did he kidnap you're sister?!" Arine looked down. "Okay, I might've left some details out..." I tilted my head. "What do you mean?"
He sighed and looked up at me. "I might as well tell you how it happened. So, Felix is a human of course, we were close friends when we were kids, and it was really cool when we found out that he had the gift to possess magic. But, his father didn't like that his magic was naturally positive and only good, so he forced him to use black magic because he thought it was more powerful, but it ended up corrupting him." Cienar rested his hand on his chin. "I see. Then if he's evil now, why did you say that he would help us?"
Ikko moved his hands to his hips. "Yeah, and you also didn't tell us how your sister got involved." Arine put one of his hands behind his head. "I'm not finished yet. Um, it is a long story though. Maybe we should go somewhere more comfortable." We agreed and walked deeper into the island's forest and found a good spot to sit down and Arine continued.
"Well, you see, the black magic did corrupt him, but, it only gets out of control when he gets angry. It's like it gave him a whole other level of anger issues. But, as I said, it only happens when he's mad, so otherwise he is his normal charming self most of the time." Cienar rested his head against his staff. "So how did he end up taking your sister?" Arine sighed. "Well, I hadn't seen him in years, but I do remember that I always complained to him that my life needed more adventure. I assume he remembered too and one day, he came back to my village angry as hell. I don't know why he was angry, but he ended up destroying almost everything, and taking my sister. He came to me, his eyes glowing red, and told me in a demonic voice, 'You crave adventure so badly? Then I'll give you some! Retrieve the book of souls, and give it to me by the third quarter moon, or I'll kill her!' He then took off with her and that's how we got here."
Ikko raised an eyebrow. "Wait, if he's his charming self most of the time, then why didn't he let her go when he calmed down?" Arine looked to the floor. "He can't. The magic won't let him take back what he does when he's angry." I got sad realizing what that would mean. "You mean, even if he doesn't want to, by the third quarter moon, the magic will make him...?" He nodded. "He will kill my sister tonight."
We all were shocked and the cold sting of silence filled the air until Arine stood up. "That's why we need to get to his castle today. There's not a minute to lose." I stood up after him. "Right. let's hurry." Later we followed the path to the center of the island. The path was lined by spears sticking out of the ground with skulls skewered through them. The trees were dark and the whole place had a creepy feeling.
We then approached a very tall black building. The architecture was ancient yet flawless. I was starting to get unnerved the closer we got. There was very strong magic here, and it was dark. It reminded me of Sythyon's castle. We approached the door and Arine knocked. The knock echoed through the steel doors, and it opened moments later to a dark room.
