I stopped in shock. 'Why are they laughing? They just tried to kill each other!!' I couldn't gather my thoughts and Sythyon stood up. He smiled and handed his hand out to Ikko. He took it with no hesitation, and Sythyon pulled him to his feet. "You've gotten better, but you still suck." Ikko smirked. "How 'bout you with the wimpy overdone smoke? You could've been harder on me you softie. At least make the fight more fun." I blinked repeatedly. '...What is happening?'
Arine rushed up beside me and read my mind. "Wait a minute, I thought you two hated each other!" Sythyon turned to him and crossed his arms. "We do. He is a good for nothing malfunction, and I hate him." Ikko nodded still smiling. "Same. He's just a cowardly slimeball with daddy issues."
Sythyon read the confusion on our faces and laughed a little. "It's a frenemies kind of relationship. We met in war, and Ikko was the only angel that just wouldn't die. It pissed me off, but our fight was so fun, I wanted to do it again." Ikko put one hand on his hip. "He let me live and I hated him for it. Once I became a fallen angel we saw more of one another, pissing us off more, and making our battles twice as fun. He gets something to do, and I get experience fighting a master."
I was still very confused. "But, what about those things you said about hating all angels before? You didn't seem like you would actually make a frenemy with one." Sythyon hesitated for a second. "Ikko isn't like all angels. He may still smell disgusting, but he's more like a demon than any other fallen angel." My mind started to calm down all the questions. 'I believe that. Ikko certainly isn't how I expected a regular angel to act. Now that I think about it, I'm curious to what a non-fallen angel is like.'
Ikko rolled his eyes. "Oh please, I smell amazing. But you, you're literally from hell." Sythyon glared at him. "Are you asking me to punch that smug look off your face?" He smiled shortly after. "Because I'd be more than happy to do it." Ikko raised an eyebrow. "Bring it on old man."
Cienar then walked up to us and sighed turning to me. "So now that the quest is over, where are you going to go now?" I was caught off guard by the question and I started to panic. "...I, I don't know..." Then Harper came up and hugged me. "Don't worry! You can stay with Arine!" Arine blushed. "Uhh..." She then pushed me to his chest. "I think you two would be adorable together!" My face immediately turned red and Sythyon and Ikko stopped growling at each other to look at us eyes wide.
I took a step back as fast as humanly possible. "Um, we're friends!" Harper clasped her hands together by her face. "How romantic!" I shook my head repeatedly. "You've got the wrong idea!" Arine looked down. "Y-Yeah, she's super hot and all, but, I don't want to mess up what we have now." I was surprised. 'I never thought Arine would say such a thing! I'm so happy he feels the same.'
I smiled a little at him and he did the same. Harper let her hands fall. "How boring." Ikko then turned to Sythyon. "Look what you did to her now you old platypus. She's lost the will to love." Sythyon blinked. "Platypus?" But before he could question further, Ikko was already walking to me.
"I'll show you what a real man is like honey. I still need to pay you back for teasing me." I turned to him and my blush came back. 'Oh no! What is he going to do?! I wasn't worried back on the ship, but that was before I saw him back in his regular form! He's like twice the size of me!' Ikko was about to take my hand when Sythyon grabbed him by the back of his shirt, pulled him back, and punched him in the face so hard he went flying into the sky father than we could see. "Ahhhhhh!!!! Heeyyyy!!!"
I was too surprised to speak. Sythyon sighed turning to me. "Ugh. Why must he want everything I have?" I came back to reality and my blush was replaced by annoyance. "You don't have me!" He crossed his arms and his expression fell into a mild irritation. "Yes I do. You're going to be my queen." I crossed my arms back at him. "No I'm not." In an instant, his irritation transformed into anger, yet his voice was still at a calm volume despite the anger building up in his eyes. "Why not?" I glared at him and waited a moment. "Because it was Liem who had to save me from that black market. That's why!"
His expression faltered and I continued. "Because you weren't there, he died because of me! I am wrong to blame you, but you said that you would never let me suffer again!" I couldn't help but well up with tears. But I didn't care, I've been holding this in since the day Arine found me, and I needed to yell.
"I lost the only friend I had! Now I have to live with the regret for the rest of my life constantly asking myself if I made the right decision, but I know the truth!... I, I couldn't save him because I wasn't strong enough... It's my fault... His life was in my hands, and, I just stood there..." The tears were falling down my face in floods now, but I pretended they weren't there and looked down.
"Love always ends up getting someone hurt... I can't go through that again." Sythyon's anger disappeared and he knelt down to wipe the tears from my cheek. I didn't stop him and closed my eyes, my heart breaking into a million pieces at the thought of how I missed the touch of his hands. He raised an eyebrow. "I guess I can't argue with that, now can I?"
He smiled softly. "But, you can't expect me to let you go that easily. I am a demon after all, we're very unreasonable." He stood up again and I lifted my head. He took my hand and pulled me towards him. I was so curious to what he was going to do, I didn't step back or move.
He tilted his head continuing to smile. "I made a big mistake. But you're mine. I marked you, and being possessive of you is an understatement for someone like me. I lost you once, I'm not going to lose you again. So you are going to come back with me, and be with me for eternity."
I couldn't move. 'What?! He can't do that! ...Well technically he can considering that's what he tried to do when we first met, but things are different now!!' Arine then pulled me away from him. "Not so fast!" Cienar glared at Sythyon and Harper crossed her arms. "Yeah! You can't just take whatever you want! Especially when that what is Silvera!" Sythyon's smile faded. "You obviously don't know what the perks of being a king are."
