I always heard about sword fighting back in Ora, I overheard many conversations about it but I never thought I would ever do it myself, so all of the information I knew just collected dust in the back of my brain. But there was one maneuver that I've always wanted to try. Now that I've been able to hold my own against the captain, I have a lot more confidence to finally bring myself to try it. 'I am so going to die.' I quickly pushed his sword aside as soon as he striked again.
I then moved the hilt of my sword in fast, small enough circles to wrap around his sword, and knock it out of his hand, into the mast behind me. He stepped back in surprise and I pointed my sword to his neck. I was shaking with excitement. 'I can't believe that worked!!!' I thought, smiling at his defeat. Everything fell silent and everyone froze. I wasn't the only one impressed.
The captain's eyes narrowed at me. "I never thought that you would've been so experienced at fencing." I laughed. "I've never touched a sword before in my life!" His surprise came back and he lifted his hands up as I put my sword closer to his neck. "That's impossible." I held my smile even though I knew that if I had fought him any other time, I would've lost one hundred percent. "Nothing's impossible in this world buddy!"
He glared at me then the corner of his mouth lifted into a small smile. "Congratulations. You defeated me. Go ahead. Kill me. Take your deserved treasure and rule the seas." I looked at him blankly. "But, I don't want to do any of that..." His smile disappeared and he looked at me shocked. "You don't? You don't want to be wealthier than any king, and have everyone's respect and fear?"
I shook my head awkwardly. 'Why would I want that? Is that why he thought I fought him?' He raised an eyebrow. "Then... What do you want?" I rested my chin on my other hand hesitating. I looked back at him. "A ride." He blinked. "A ride?" I nodded. "Take me and my friends to Devil's island and I won't tell anyone you lost to a girl." He stared at me confused. "You defeated the master of the seven seas, and refused to take anything more than a ride?!"
I hesitated again. "Okay, then I would also like an apology for destroying our boat and trying to seduce me." Arine, Ikko, and Cienar gasped at the same time. Arine tried to run to the captain angrily, but Cienar held him back. "WHAT?! You said he didn't do anything!! I'm going to tear his head off!!" Ikko cracked his knuckles. "Not before I do." Cienar glared at him. "He's going to look like nothing but a pile of carnage after I'm done with him."
Fear entered the captains face and he swallowed. I smiled again. "Don't worry. Just apologize and all will be forgiven." He looked back to me. "That's... All I have to do...? You don't want to make me suffer or anything? I did do some horrible things..." I shrugged. "No, that's pretty much it." His expression relaxed. "Alright. I am sorry. For everything." I lowered my sword and immediately hugged him. "Yay! We're friends now!" He froze and everyone's mouths dropped. I let him go and he was still stunned. "Alright! Let's get moving!"
Later we were headed to Devil's island again, but this time we were on a pirate ship. I forced Cienar to rest from all the work he's been doing lately, and I told Ikko to zap Arine if he tried to kill the captain again. I knew he wanted to from all the hate in his eyes when he saw him. As for the captain, he hadn't spoken to me since I hugged him, and he blushes every time he sees me now. He was near the helm and the sun had just set, filling the sky in a dark orange.
I went up the stairs and saw that there was a loose piece of material around his hand. I realized that I had cut him earlier and ran up to him. "Oh, I forgot, I am so sorry for cutting you! Here, I'll rewrap it for you." I reached for his hand but he pulled away before I could touch him. I looked up at him and he turned away from me, his face red. "No. It's fine."
I gave him a stern look. "It needs to be taken care of properly. Give me your hand." He turned to me. "Stop it. Stop being so nice, it's annoying." He crossed his arms and I raised an eyebrow. "Alright. Give me your hand now you jerk!" He looked at me surprised then looked down angry.
He then slowly handed out his wounded hand to me, and I took it gently. I started to rewrap it when he mumbled. "...Why do you care about me when I did horrible things to you?" I was unsure how to answer. "I, well you apologized and I knew you meant it, even if you deny it in your head. You may be mean and ruthless, but you're still a person. And no one can be nice if you never give them the opportunity to be."
He looked up surprised, then he blushed again. He whispered to himself. "Just like a unicorn..." I blinked. 'Oh, that reminds me. I've been wanting to ask him.' I looked to the floor. "When you say that I have the soul of a unicorn, what do you mean by that?" He was quiet for a moment. "Exactly what I say. I can see souls through that glass I have. I've seen unicorn souls before. And they resemble yours entirely."
That's what I thought. 'But, how is that possible? If that was true, wouldn't my hair and eyes be white? Or something like that? I don't know. I'm sure that this has never happened before.' He saw my confusion and got my attention. "Don't know how either?" I nodded.
He looked away from me again changing the subject. "I, uh, might have something more comfortable for you to put on if you're tired of wearing that..." I lifted my head up to see him. 'Well, it's not that wearing leaves is uncomfortable... Sarcastically speaking. But I could really go for some real material right about now.' I smiled a little. "That would be nice if you wouldn't mind." He returned my small smile and later the next morning he had given me a beautiful white dress, with a brown leather corset, and some brown flats. They were my first pair of shoes. 'They're so beautiful I think I'm going to cry.'
I smiled, ignoring the burning of tears in my eyes. "Thank you so much!" Even though the clothes were simple, I still loved them. Later I came on deck and saw Cienar and Arine by the railing and looking to the island in sight. I came over to them and they both were speechless to see me. I smiled. "Do you like it?" Cienar smiled back. "Just when I thought you couldn't be any more beautiful." I blushed and Arine crossed his arms. "You're too pretty. I don't want any of these pirates drooling all over you. Go change."
