Chereads / This Eroge is seriously wrong! / Chapter 20 - Barrier

Chapter 20 - Barrier

On the blackboard, two names were clearly written using chalk. Yes, chalk. In this world, blackboards and chalk are still used.

Of course, it's up to the teacher whether they want to use it or not.

The names, Olivia Von Beaumont and Sylvia Von Beaumont were clearly printed on the blackboard.

It seems like I was right, why did no one tell me though?

It seems my future troubles will increase.

Standing by the podium, side by side, Olivia and Sylvia who were in the Amaterasu academy uniform took a quick glance at me.

"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

"TWO GIRLS!!!!!"

The guy who hoped the new transfer student would be a girl screamed with delight. It seems it exceeded his expectations since there isn't just one, but two beautiful girls joining the class.

After screaming his heart out, the guy passed out in his chair, as a small ghost that resembled him started flowing from his mouth.

Oi, oi, he almost went to the afterlife.

As for the females, some were happy that they could make more friends, while one or two were clearly jealous, without even hiding it. They intentionally made a 'tch' sound pretty loudly, so that the entire class could hear it.

Seems they have a prejudice against people better looking than them huh.

Better not get involved with them then.

"I hope everyone will give our transfer students a warm welcome."

"Hai, sensei!"

Slide.

From the back door of the classroom, the sliding door was open. Two janitors walked in holding a desk and chair each.

They placed them next to each other, before walking out while holding their hats.

"Please use these, for now, your desks will be ready by tomorrow."

The two desks that were placed just now are next to Lumiere's desk. With mine and hers being at the very back of the classroom, by ourselves, it seems we will have more company in the future.

Oh right, I forgot to describe the uniform. Being given the name of Amaterasu Academy, the uniform consists of black school pants with the school logo and a red jacket with the logo on the left side of the chest.

Don't underestimate the uniform, they are expensive for a reason. The two pieces are both embedded with enchantments such as increased defense, increased magic defense, increased comfortability, increased airflow, etc.

Not only that, the logos have a special defensive function that will activate automatically to protect the students. Though that itself is somewhat limited in its capabilities, it's still better than nothing and could potentially save your life.

Other than that, students are able to wear anything they desire under the jacket. Of course, most students would just wear a white collar shirt accompanied by a tie, in order to give them a tidy look.

In fact, students aren't even required to wear the uniform unless it is a compulsory event such as the yearly Magical Academy Duels.

Just like the name implies, the event is where students from each year are chosen from amongst the best, in order to represent their school. The schools will let the chosen students to battle against the other schools.

Being one of the top academies in the entire world, the Amaterasu Academy has always placed in the top three of each competition.

Each competition consists of a majority of academies on the continent, which numbers over one hundred. After that, there is also a nationwide version that has a less number of schools, but each is the strongest of each country, and also an international level stage.

Now getting back to the story, the two sisters sat in their seats as Onee-chan began her lesson. As per usual, I sat in class and paid attention to the entire classroom, but focused on the lesson.

After Onee-chan's class, I went directly to the next class, which is Magical Application class. This class isn't a compulsory class, but most students still tend to choose this class.

Going to class, Lumiere, Saito and the sisters followed me. It seems like we are turning into quite a strange group.

"Ah, so you two already know the transfer students?"

"Yea, they should be willing to be your friend too, right girls?"

I looked at the sisters, they looked at Saito and smiled. It seems Saito is happy that he will have more friends.

In the past, it took him a long time to make friends, now upon entering high school, he had already made two friends, and possibly more within just the first week!

"By the way, what classes did you two choose?"

Sylvia whispered softly into my ear. It seems both of them had chosen the same classes as me. Hmm, I guess that's fine since the classes I chose are relevant to them too.

From behind me, I could hear some of our classmates whispering amongst themselves.

"Tsk, they already knew each other. Damnit!"

"If only I was born handsome!!!"

Heading off to class, I shook my head lightly.

**********

"Okay everyone, please show me the progress you have made since yesterday's class."

A soft voice told the class. Our teacher for the Magical Practical class, Asami Ayaka, well I won't tell you her age since it's rude…

Just know that she's quite pretty and is quite strong since she is able to be a teacher at the academy.

During yesterday's class, Asami-sensei demonstrated an emission type spell called, [Flame Eruption].

It's not a really complex spell, but you shouldn't underestimate it. Being an AOE type spell, it is used by even famous magicians since it can be cast quickly without using too much time, while also not using much magical energy at the same time.

To put it simply, it somewhat resembles a geyser. Multiple flame pillars erupt from the ground in a designated area, causing devastating damage.

In the last class, everyone had a go. Some couldn't use it fully, while others couldn't even get flames to come out the ground.

As for Lumiere and Chisaki…

Let's just say it was a disaster. When Lumiere used the spell, the entire stage almost turned into ashes, the same could be said for Chisaki.

Asami-sensei had to use a restoration spell to turn the ground back to its original state, and also employed a barrier to limit the damage.

As for me.

Well, I pretended to not be able to cast the spell, hoping that sensei would focus on someone else. Contrary to my expectations, she became concerned and encouraged me by saying things like, "You can do it, I believe in you." and such.

"Oh yes, I would also like everyone to give the transfer students a round of applause to welcome them.

Clap. Clap. Clap.

After a lot of clapping…

The lesson finally resumed.

Some students began trying to use the spell, with some making improvements, while others made none at all.

One or two who couldn't do it properly had made it work today.

Then it became Saito's turn.

He focused as he pressed his hands on the ground to cast the spell. [Flame Eruption].

Tok. Tok. Tok. Tok.

Several pillars of flame erupted from the ground. Though it wasn't nearly as powerful as Lumiere and Chisaki's spell, it was still quite good.

It seems, his cheat-like abilities are starting to show now. During the last class, he was one of the students who were able to use the spell, but the power behind it was quite mediocre. It was a big leap compared to the Saito of today.

Olivia was next. Her spell pretty much had the same firepower as Saito's. Considering that she uses White magic, it was quite good.

After Olivia was Sylvia's turn.

Boom! Boom!

The ground exploded in flames, tiny cracks appeared on the surface of the barrier cast by sensei.

It seems her fire magic surpassed even Lumiere and Chisaki's. It was quite surprising considering she's not that strong right now in the story.

"Whoa! Strong!"

The other students applauded her showing of power. She sat down in her seat which was near me without batting an eyelid.

After restoring the ground, as well as the barrier, sensei called out my name. "Hatsume-kun, it's your turn."

Standing up, I walked towards the space below the seats. Looking at the large space in front of me, I wondered how much magic I should use.

Hmm, I've never tried using my magic at its maximum before, I guess I should try it.

Channeling my magic into my right leg, it started glowing dark gold in color. I stepped lightly on the ground, as the entire classroom started shaking as if there were an earthquake.

"What the?! An earthquake?!"

After a few seconds, the earthquake stopped.

"Hmm, nothings happening."

Suddenly, a loud sound could be heard from the ground below.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Large pillars of flames broke free from the ground like raging geysers. Each pillar was over a meter in diameter and reached over thirty meters in height. In fact, I couldn't even see how high they went, since there was no roof.

The entire ground broke apart, slowly forming one giant pillar of flame. The barrier cast by Asami-sensei broke apart in an instant.

Crack!

"Sensei, cast the barrier spell!"

I shouted at her.

"Oh, oh right! Everyone, quickly escape!"

Sensei closed her eyes and started to cast the [Barrier] spell. I started doing the same.

Opening her eyes, sensei used the spell, enveloping the entire room in an instant. I did the same and overlapped it with sensei's barrier to contain all the flames.

I controlled the barrier, compressing it and shrinking it. The flames started shrinking as well. It looks like I didn't need sensei's help to contain it.
