Chapter 22 - Protagonist vs Heroine

Walking up the stage with my opponent on my shoulder, I left him on one of the seats then sat down in my spot. After that match, it seems like no one else wants to challenge me, I wonder why?

Anyway, Saito looked around the classroom at all the students. Suddenly, I heard a voice.

"I challenge him."

Looking at the voice, we saw Chisaki Airi pointing at Saito. Oi, oi, do you really need to point at the person you challenge? That's rude you know?

Sitting beside me, Saito stood up.

"Be careful."

I reminded him since I knew he wouldn't win at this point. As he nodded, he went down the stage to face off against one of the main heroines.

Chisaki Airi, an ability-user who specializes in fire type magic as well as swordsmanship. To put it in simple words, she is a magic swordsman who can only use fire type magic.

Don't underestimate her though, being a heroine, her flames can even vaporize water which is her only disadvantaged element. Though that is only towards the end of the game, by then Saito could easily defeat her.

Saito Ren, an ability-user who can use every magic in existence. With incredible growth and the talent to learn everything in a single try, he later becomes undefeatable and becomes a legend.

Even with his incredible growth, in the game, he had a rival who could match him. Let's talk about that guy later, since he won't appear for a while.

Currently, Saito only knows some basic and intermediate level magic as well as the martial arts he learned from childhood.

The Saito family has been a lineage of warriors since ancient times. The style which had originally been used for war and killing has now developed into a style used to only defeat their opponent, rather than killing them.

Of course, the old style still remains and should only be used in a crisis. Oh but, I did teach him the [Body Strengthening] magic, so maybe he can win?

*********

Enveloping himself with the [Body Strengthening] magic I taught him, Saito didn't stand in any particular stance. The martial arts style focuses on both hard and softness without needing any stances.

To put it simply, he can attack or defend no matter what position he is in. Around his body, a faint gold and blue light which is the color of his magic.

On the other side, Chisaki embedded her magic on her sword. Of course, she is using a wooden one. Yea I'll end my sentence there.

A crimson red and slightly dark-colored magic surrounded her sword. Her left hand which was free was used to cast the [Fireball] spell.

After casting the spell, her body moved along with her magic sword which was heading for Saito.

----------

Saito's POV-

Pew.

Taking a deep breath, I focused on the fight in front of me. Using the [Body Strengthening] magic that Hatsume-kun taught me, I can tell that I've become much stronger.

On the other side, my opponent is charging at me. I stayed in my spot and waited for both my opponent as well as the fireball to come closer.

Once it did, I ducked before lashing out a kick by having my hands on the ground.

Bang!

My leg slammed into my opponents' magic sword.

I didn't stop there.

I turned my body around to gain a firm foothold, before jumping into the air and kicked the magic sword again.

Sending my opponent flying back a few meters, I dropped my body to the ground and ran towards her.

--------------

On the stage, Chisaki spun around in mid-air to break her fall, as a tornado of fire was created.

I could see Saito rushing towards her as he used a wind type spell, [Wind Sickle]. As the name implies, it's a sickle of wind.

The dozens of wind sickles made the tornado even bigger than it was. Hmm, so that's his idea? Pretty clever.

By making the fire tornado even larger, Chisaki would be stuck in the flames for a bit even if she were immune to her own flames.

Saito stopped running. Instead, he cast a lightning type spell, drawing in thunder clouds from above.

The lightning attacked through the center of the fire tornado. Not being able to see what was happening inside, he continued his attack.

As for me, I could clearly see what was happening through the flames.

Chisaki had long landed on the ground, and her sword emitted even more flames. She pointed her sword at the lightning and before it landed, she cut down the lightning as if it were paper.

Eh, she's fast huh? Cutting down lightning.

Once the lightning disappeared, so did the fire tornado. With her limited strength, Chisaki dashed towards Saito. Unfortunately for her, Saito is much faster than her thanks to the magic I taught him.

Hmm, don't tell me he wants to grab her sword? Even with the [Body Strengthening] magic, I don't think that's a good idea.

Down below, Saito's body moved extremely fast, not to the extent of my speed but it is faster than me using three percent of my magic. His body moved closer and closer as if he was trying to grasp her sword.

With his left hand, he grabbed the magic sword. Oh, it seems like I underestimated this cheat-like person.

Even though he had just learned it, he already figured out that he could transfer all or most of the magic to one part of his body, making it stronger and tougher than normal.

With the protection of most of his magic on his left hand, Saito was able to hold the sword and made Chisaki stuck.

Once he grabbed hold of her sword, I knew it was the moment that Saito had won. It seems my influence here has changed the story of the game.

In the game, Saito would be easily beaten by Chisaki. It wasn't until he had defeated her later on, and when she thought of their interactions that she had fallen in love with him.

"Saito Ren wins."

Letting go of her sword, Saito said thanks before heading to the seats. It seems like Chisaki didn't think that she would actually lose. I can tell that she is shocked to the core.

Afterward, some minor characters went on stage to battle, and shortly afterward it was time for the next class.

The next class is Physical Education (PE), the class wasn't separated into male and female and was one large group instead.

Some of the boys were glad since they got to see girls in bloomers. Sigh these guys always thinking about that kinda stuff. Of course, I do think about it sometimes, but to do it all the time is…

During PE, the class was forced to play basketball.

With only twenty students in the class, two teams would go on at once.

In my team is Olivia, while Lumiere, Sylvia, and Saito were on the other team. Of course, since this is a normal class, magic or other abilities aren't allowed.

Standing in the center of the court, I was facing a tall guy for the ball toss. When the ball was thrown into the air after the whistle, I waited until it started falling before jumping.

Whoosh!

I tapped the ball backward to my team, I had actually touched the ball before the other guy even though he was taller than me.

Landing on my feet, I stood on the court where I only had one defender on me.

My teammate passed the ball through the air. I grabbed it with one hand before starting to dribble the ball.

Whoosh!

I dribbled the ball with amazing technique, giving the defenders an ankle break, Saito slipped as I reached for the rim.

Jumping up, I held the ball with one hand and went for a dunk.

Bang!

I slammed the ball through the hoop with all my might as I hung onto the rim. The entire board as well as the rim I held onto shook.

Once I let go, I could hear the basketball bounce off the ground in front of me.

"Whoa! A slam dunk? He jumps high! He's only around one hundred and eighty centimeters but he can easily dunk!"

After my dunk, I passed the ball to Saito who stood outside the court and prepared to pass the ball.

*********

After class, it was time to go home. Rather than going home, my small group of friends joined me on a detour in town.
